I recall a thread about six months ago or so where Dio posted some ridiculous proclamation of some over-the-top action he would take if somebody tried to do something with his daughter. Posters challenged him, and, for some reason, he asked his wife about the hypothetical situation. She set him straight, and he came back on and changed his answer. He explained that his wife keeps him in line when he goes overboard.
Maybe the rule should be that Dio can only post when his wife is helping him.

If you think of him like the drunk uncle who everyone rolls their eyes at, but puts up with, and you occasionally have fun listening to him getting worked up, he’s kind of fun to have around.

I’ll just go have a nice, interesting discussion in my thread about an eight-year old who got pepper-sprayed - oh, wait, I can’t, because it got closed because of Dio. We all know it’s the fucking internet; that doesn’t make what he does okay. It’s just tv; is it okay if someone comes over and stands in front of it while you’re trying to watch something you’re interested in? How about if I kick the back of your seat while you’re trying to watch a movie? It’s just a movie, after all.

I am so fucking goddamned tired of people whining that “it’s just the Internet, why should anyone care,” with this nuance of tee-heeing behind the backs of their hands at all the slob-like losers who are posting to this message board from their mom’s basement.
Yes, it’s the Internet. You know who’s on the Internet? My mom is on the Internet. Probably so is yours. My GRANDPA is on the Internet. EVERY FUCKING PERSON is on the Internet. The Internet is where we go to do our banking, shop, post pictures of our kids, and, yes, DISCUSS. The fact that the venue of discussion on this message board happens to be the Internet does not give anyone a pass on being a complete fucking douchebag when they post, which Diogenes frequently does, often while being totally unapologetic and smugly arrogant about it.
After the second or third time I noticed him flat-out lying in threads (i.e. “I never said X” only to have people point out exactly where he said X up-thread, then followed by “oh, well, I didn’t mean X”) I stopped engaging him in discussions, but it’s complete bullshit that we’re all supposed to tiptoe around this guy who proudly and smugly drops dozens of shit-bombs into any thread he feels like derailing. And no, that’s not a debate tactic or a legitimate method of discussion, and I’m sick as shit of people defending this behavior because he “has a right to his opinion.” Yes, he does, and we would all appreciate it if he could express that opinion like most of the other people do around here, which is reasonably and rationally and without resorting to incessant toddler-like “No I didn’t” “I don’t do that” “You’re wrong” “I don’t care” posts. I expect a higher level of discourse from my fucking 9-year-old. (My usage of “fucking” and “9-year-old” in the same sentence does not imply my endorsement of 9-year-olds fucking, just in case there was any confusion, because fuck knows I’d hate to start another shitstorm on that topic.)

What worse, is when you tell him that he said X, he says “I never said X” then you quote him saying X and he responds by saying “I never said that”. Then 60 posts later he’ll grab your post where you told him he never said X, ignoring the part where you quoted him and the whole thing starts over again. On top of that, he’s juggling 4 or 5 of these arguments at a time. As soon as one person gives up, he starts in on someone else. That’s when I was talking about when I said he lies.
So, apparently the best we can hope for is we outlast Dio’s liver?
There is an incredibly recent example of one person (the OP of, and one of the loudest bitchers* in, the ATMB thread) bring Diogenes up in a conversation that he had not been a participant of and that had absolutely nothing at all to do with him just to be a dick.
I haven’t read every single thread that Diogenes has derailed and I don’t deny that his style can be grating at times, but I am disinclined to engage in screeching and “BURN THE WITCH!!!” and whatever else is going on here like it’s solely Diogenes’ fault that this happens when I just saw somebody else goad him in another thread for absolutely no reason. It’s kind of hard to take the complaints seriously now.
*Yes, it absolutely is a word, I don’t care what spell check says.

I’ve certainly found Dio’s thread derailments annoying in the past, as I said in the recent ATMB thread. But stuff like this borders on stalking.
Despite his faults Diogenes has contributed far more of worth to this board than many of his critics (including me). We had our say in ATMB. Now let’s have the good grace to leave the guy alone. If he derails more threads he can be reported but this shit looks like provocation and leads me to suspect that some posters want to keep the ‘Dio show’ running because they enjoy riling the guy. In plain English they’re trolling.
If he was banned I sure would miss his slow but sure descent into madness over the course of a football season.
