That last cite was just put up in that thread about half an hour ago and I hadn’t seen it yet. Fine, I accept it. It still wan’t unreasonable to point out that school district had denied it or to ask for corroboration.
No, it’s not unreasonable. What IS unreasonable is to come saying that the story is bogus, with no cite, and with a faint air of contemptuous surprise that people don’t realize that the story is bogus. That’s exactly the sort of ridiculous shit that people get annoyed at you for doing. If instead you’d said:
then it would’ve been something interesting to add to the discussion, especially if you’d left it there. But when you drop the absolute and uncited statement in, and then when challenged on it start with these ridiculous fucking philosophical questions of who has the burden of proof, it’s an asshole move.
If you’re serious about changing, you won’t do things like this any more. If you don’t have a slam-dunk point, you won’t pretend like you do; instead, you’ll qualify it. Go overboard, even, on hedging your bets.
You shouldn’t lead off with “Everybody knows this is bogus, right?” and follow up with, “This appears to be fiction.”
Incidentally, you’re wrong once again. The cite from half an hour ago was also the cite in post 8.
And in post 19, 23, 24, 44, 45, and 57, before you came in to say it was bogus. Admittedly some of those it’s just appearing when someone’s post is being quoted, but if you were convinced the last time it appeared, it indicates you’re not following the thread very carefully.

Let the record show that I apologized to him in that thread for my inappropriate response. When I started feeling that angry again, I just left. I think I’m justified in feeling how I did, but not in how I responded, and also posting the thread was a dumb idea in the first place. Some people seem to understand my feelings and others don’t. I really don’t know what else to say.
