Celebrities whose names give you a warm, tingly feeling?

Who do you like soley because of his/her name? I got the idea from the freak thread…do you have a celebrity (or, I guess, any person) who just gives you a tingly feeling when you hear their name?

For me it’s definitely River Phoenix. I haven’t seen one of his movies, unless seeing parts of “Stand By Me” counts. I just like hearing his name. It sounds so good.

Your opinions?

No, but I get tears in my eyes whenever I see Jimmy Carter or Mr. Rogers - for real.

Maya Angelou.

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio

And pretty much anyone who has an ethnic train wreck of a name but obviously decided to eschew hollywood tradition and keep their own name.

Yasmine Bleeth. But it’s not so much about her name.

I always liked Mario Puzo’s name. Poooozo! Heh.

Sir Alec Guinness. Sounds so… regal.

I have said it before and will say it again
(cause it’s just so fun to say)
Lolita Davidovitch

Wink Martindale.

Johann Sebastian Bach
Nadia Comanechi
Duke Ellington
Marilu Henner (especially strange, since I usually don’t enjoy those portmanteau first names)
Cole Porter
Dawn Wells

Vivian Vance
Olivia DeHaviland
Omar Sharif

Kyra Sedgwick
I have never seen any of her movies/tv shows/whatever she does, but that’s a great name. I also like the last name McLeod, which I saw in TV guide once, but can’t remember the actor’s first name.

Wink Martindale? Ha, I didn’t know anybody else remembered Mr. Plastic Face.

Frank Zappa (plus Dweezil & Moon Unit)
Henauder Titzoff (celebrity cuz of his name)
Boutros Boutros Gali (sp?)
Dusty Rhodes

Seeing as how someone put in Boutros Boutros Gali, I’m going to add another political figure.

And apologies if I’ve gotten this wrong.

Megawati Sukarnaputri (mostly for the first name, given the power crisis we’ve been in, it’s easy to remember)

More politicians with really cool names: Tansu Çiller, Vigdis Finbogadottir, and Canada’s own Svend Robinson and Judy Wascylycia-Leis. (I can’t believe I can spell that!)

Vin Diesel gets my vote for Ultimate Toughguy Name. I mean, would you mess around with a guy named Vin Diesel? I thought not.

My favorite name of a real person of all time, though, is Zelda Lagrange. She’s a spokeswoman for Nelson Mandela. Doesn’t that just sound like a character from a pulp novel?

Quarterback for the texas Longhorns Major Applewhite is simply destined for greatness due to his name alone.

I also think Leelee Sobieski is a cool name as well. I just love saying it.

What, Ahmet is boring?

Christy Canyons.

When my best friend and I were middle-schoolers and eagerly awaiting the day when we would be old enough to boink Keanu Reeves, we used to sit around and think of different ways to say his first name:

*Keeeeeee-anu!

KeAHnu!

Kee! Ah! Noo!

Keanooooooooooooooo… *

Still love that name.

** Barry White ** makes me feel tingly as well, but only because of all the wonders his music has wrought for my sex life. sigh

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

Leon Trotsky

et al

I grew up believing Lenin was basically the pinnacle of all that was right and proper. I’ve since learned, of course, that he was as human as anyone else, and probably as misguided… to me, though, his name still represents true vision, crushed by hideous reality. And that NAME… just the right series of syllables. Eastern European names are great. Kafka. Karrrl Marrrx. Michail Gorrrbachev… Borrris Yellltsinnn. I swear the names are responsible for at LEAST 1.5% of their support! I think I mainly like Trotsky because of the Stranglers’ song No More Heroes.

Most of mine have been named already (Keanu Reeves, Boutros-Boutros Gali, River Phoenix). I also like:

Jack Klugman
Sir John Gielgud
Milla Jovovitch
