Celebrity Apprentice 2011

Yup. Actually I think it’s been worse in the past. One of the finales was three hours.

No surprise that John Rich won, though either of them would have been fine.

I don’t think anyone wanted to see more of the Star/NeNe train wreck.

I was in and out of the broadcast, was there any explanation on the Dionne and Jose absences? (and No I didn’t miss them although Jose did provide some of the season’s funnier moments) They explained Hatch’s absence.

Did Hope speak? Or was she completely silent, as she was all season?

just checked twitter feeds, the reason why Dionne was not at the finale is because it was “past her bedtime.” LOL

too bad she wasn’t there, she could have told everyone who won by use of her psychic hotline. and we could have saved 2 hours of BS.

Wow, that was horrendous. I have been watching previous shows on tape delay, but sat down for this one real time. I did pause for a bit, but ended up fast forwarding through commercials early - I should have saved it for the end of the show.

When John Rich messed up the timing on the show, that was so dramatic I didn’t see how that wasn’t a killer moment. Sure, he filled time okay, but that kind of screw up is amateur hour. Also, not having anyone meet the 7-Up execs? However, the commercial was great, and the visuals at the show were great. Marlee’s show seemed flawless. Even the commercial got edited to remove some of the worst bits. It still was pretty cheesy. I personally liked Marlee’s can better. The disco ball beat out the zebra stripes in my mind.

So they liked both products and are going to roll both out. I’ll look for them. Hell, may even try one, though I’ve never really liked 7-Up - it has a aftertaste.

I’m a bit annoyed by the responses to “Why should you be the Celebrity Apprentice?” “Because my charity is so important.” Well, your charity might be superb, but how did you do? The show isn’t The Charity Apprentice. “Because I worked my butt off to win for my charity” = acceptable. “Because my charity saves lives” = not. You’re trying to guilt Trump into picking your charity, not you. Shameful.

I, like everyone else, thought Gary was going off on his kite story again, but it’s amusing that he had a real purpose this time, that the Omaha Steaks people are actually selling their packages with a kite kit included. Okay, Gary, you win. Your story still sucked.

Star once again proved her own lack of class in trying to outclass NeNe by playing the race card. Another screaming match on national TV - yea for black women everywhere!

And Trump’s bullshit about “but you two will be great friends later” is as ridiculous as his hair and Don Jr’s purple suit. Does he really believe his bullshit, or does he care if anyone believes him?

Anyway, we called it, John Rich won overall, but it was a close match and Marlee didn’t fail, she just didn’t win.

And stop with that tension building pause, you jackass.

Of course Marlee didn’t win, Trump is a sexist buffoon.

Of course Marlee didn’t win, Trump is a sexist buffoon.

Yeah, but with *Celebrity Apprentice *it’s never really about the last task anyway. No one’s actually getting hired, it’s just to raise money for charity, so it’s just down to who performed better overall throughout the whole season.

Trump is a sexist buffoon, but that has nothing to do with why she didn’t win. Many people on this board thought John would be the winner way back at the beginning of the season. They were both strong, he just seemed better overall.

Ho hum, JR won. That was totally unexpected (not) :p! What a revolting dragged-out finale. Trump asking everyone “Who do you like?” was the final insult. For crying out loud, just pick one and end the tedium.

I really thought Marlee would win, so it was a surprise to me. I was flipping back and forth - I couldn’t watch the cringe inducing nightmare of all of the losers on stage talking about each other and pretending to have a thimble-full of class.

I didn’t see John Rich’s pleading speech about why he should win. I did see Marlee’s and thought I wouldn’t want to go against her. He must have actually pulled a kid with cancer on stage and said “Can you say no to this little girl?” to Trump.

Yes, but Marlee’s 7-Up cures them with her sweetness and light.

As much as I liked John, I thought Marlee deserved to win. Yeah, John’s commercial was better. But, screwing up the timing with the band? That’s a pretty egregious oversight, especially for a career musician like him who should know better. And as a couple of people have already said on here, this wasn’t a battle over had the better charity. It was a battle over who put on the best presentation, and IMHO Marlee should have hands down, if no other reason than simply by virtue of John not coordinating when the band would come out.

It certainly weighs heavily - but it’s not just about the final challenge. There is no reason to not view each contestants’ body of work so far on the show.

Anyone else notice Nene was Star’s talking stain on her shirt?

Or start singing “Save The Orphans” during John Rich’s song?

Measured purely on the final challenge, I think Marlee had the edge. Rich’s commercial was better, but screwing the timing of the show up was a big flaw. Sure, he covered okay, and owned up to it, and when Def Leppard appeared it worked out great. But Marlee’s presentation went off without a hitch.

But if evaluated on the “body of work” through the whole program, I think Rich was stronger overall. Mark McGrath pegged it when he said “Marlee had a great day, John had a great season”.

Totally agree with this. I think for Marley to win, John had to pull down his jeans and moon the 7up guys and even that…

Clearly he had the best season. Marley came off disorganized and confused at times and allowed Star and Meatloaf to run with ideas she didn’t seem excited about.

I still don’t understand what Trump did different at the end? Was it that he always said “You’re fired” and didn’t this time? This was my first season so I thought it may have been that the person that didn’t raise the most money overall won. Not sure if that was even the case here after the last 275K. Oh and who was the corporation that donated the 250K? I didn’t hear it and rewound it twice. Felt bad that they didn’t get their advertising dollars worth.

Not sure what this means, but the Star-Nene exchange was painful to witness. I didn’t think it was possible to come off worse than Star this season, but Nene approached Omarosa-like levels of jackassery.

Last night’s show established one thing: Ivanka is a gorgeous woman. Wow.

That was a whole lot of filler. I know it’s Sunday night, but NBC really thought that was worth 2 hours? It was great hearing about the colors Donald Jr. and his wife chose for their living room, etc. but the show could have 1/4th the length it was.

Both commercials looked amateurish to me, though I admit that Marlee’s came off better than I thought it would. I have no idea why they had Richard and Latoya in it though. They would have been better off calling David Cassidy in for a cameo. Speaking of Cassidy, boy, he came off like a major dick gloating over Richard Hatch’s jailing. It’s not like he went to jail for something he did to Cassidy. He really did seem to come across as a “little man” there.

Lisa Rinna is a wonderful example of why you shouldn’t do elective plastic surgery. Gah! I think she was going for sexy but ended up with scary.

John did make a major error in not greeting Trump - he should have delegated that task to Star, and the premature start for DL was pretty poor on his end. Like aceplace57 said, the band should have been in sight before he started out there. In fairness, though I favor Rich over Marlee I think she had a better event as far as structure and organization… but as others have said, John was a stronger competitor without question the entire season. This might have been his weakest task but he still did a great job, and deserves to be the CA IMO.

I think that was it. Having co-Apprenti is pretty predictable, but he is able to say that he never fired Marlee, so I suspect we might see more Marlee-Trump connections in the future.

In fairness, though, she actually looks better now than she did 15 or so years when she was on “Melrose Place.” You think her lips look weird now, back then she was a full-on catfish. And, more mind-boggling, she was actually considered something of a sex symbol.

Was that due to plastic surgery 15 years ago? If that’s her natural lips, my bad.

Can anybody explain how anybody who has any regard for Star allowed her to go onstage in that… costume? Nene as well, but I did recognize it as a dress.

That’s okay, I saw it and still don’t recall who it was.

Yes, Nene finally won something over Star - biggist jackass.

Richard was supposed to be the big disco scene. I’m not sure, was LaToya supposed to be Wonder Woman?

I missed their episode, so I don’t know what the drama between them was all about. I wasn’t sure if there was a basis for the gloating over Richard Hatch going back to jail being vindication for Cassidy, or just gloating.

There are rumors that Nene might get her own talk show. I can’t imagine a worse waste of air time, and if I knew who to send it to, I’d be starting a petition to keep her off TV entirely.

After the first season of Apprentice, there was talk that Clairol or some cosmetic company was going to hire Omarosa as a spokesperson. They obviously didn’t know anything about her except that she was becoming famous, for something. They got so much flak, they changed their mind.

I really, really, hate that woman. She’s much worse than Omarosa.

Anyone know why the shows were two-three hours this season? NBC had time to fill?
