Celebrity Apprentice (spring 2012) [edited title]

Agreed.

While Dayana has been responding with surprising equanimity to Lisa’s crap, I don’t think she’s been able to do quit enough to “win” this thing. I believe Penn is still working out how to act in response to the “overbearing” comments from a few episodes ago and has not quite regained his footing. He should be a front-runner, but he’s holding himself back in the team interactions.

Yeah, no. I understand editing has a great impact on these things, but unless that tirade was actually pieced together from several different occasions over the space of those two days, it makes no difference that it took two days for her to spew it. She’s unbalanced, and has an inexplicable hate-on for Dayana.

Agreed, that tirade was inexcusable, that is NOT how you handle issues you are having with other people, whether the issues are valid or not. It was a bullying pure and simple.

I can explain it.

Finally got to catch up last night. Real life is a bitch.

Aubrey got compliments on her hosting, better than Penn. She pegged the instincts on when to end the skits, where Penn fell down on that at one point (“he became part of the audience”). That said, overall Penn was a great host, whereas Aubrey didn’t do as well picking the topics. Penn knew improv and new how to pick the topics broad enough to allow creative room. Aubrey’s selects from audience cues were a little too specific in points (selling “panty hose”, as opposed to “medical products”). Aubrey probably would have done okay with the puppetry and improv, certainly better than Teresa. Teresa might or might not have been a good host, but she might have been able to understand it better.

On the one hand, I agree that Dayana probably wasn’t right for any of the stage roles. Any limited experience she has is overwhelmed by her three teammates’ experience. If she were on the team with Paul, Teresa, and Aubrey, then it would have been very sensible to give her one of the improv slots, or even the host job. Let her show off her boobs and play the audience. But given the teams they had, it makes sense. I just see that she has been continually marginalized and disregarded throughout, so she is a bit aggressively trying to emphasize her abilities that they may not be aware of otherwise.

Because what Dayana wants is to play a role, to contribute, and to be respected for what she can do. If she cannot contribute for whatever reason, then treat her with dignity and respect, and tell her, “Dayana, I appreciate that you want to be involved and contribute. In this task, there are only three performance roles, and we have three professional performers.”

But also, there were other ways to contribute - like making the goddamn puppets. Which, you will notice, Dayana did very well. She was complimented on her puppet-making skills by the improv pros. Penn pointed this out “Dayana got a job offer to come work with them. I didn’t get any job offers.” Neither did Teresa or Arsenio. Dayana was creative, and she was … I don’t know what word I want, she just seemed to be smooth and comfortable with the puppetmaking. Watching her cut foam to make rounded surfaces with straight scissors was impressive.

So yeah, Eric totally noticed her vibe in that room - it wasn’t subtle. But she was trying not to crap on her team, trying to be involved and concentrate on the one task she had.

But Lisa, holy shit! She just jumped all over Dayana, when it was Clay that brought up the topic in that moment with trying to suggest a way for Dayana to play a role in the performance. And then Lisa exploded all over Dayana. “It was make work, anyone can stitch up foam.” Um, no. Dayana is the only one who got compliments from the professionals.

Then Lisa turns and explodes all over Penn and Clay.

My one complaint against Penn and Clay is that neither of them stood up to Lisa either there or in the board room to tell her she was totally out of line. But then, it’s rough situation to be in. Penn was trying to disappear, and he had some good tact to go check on Dayana, let her vent a bit, and then be a bit supportive.

I think maybe the only reason they didn’t say anything at the time was the attempt to allow Lisa to calm down so they could get into the correct frame of mind for the performance. As for the boardroom, I guess they didn’t get to the point it mattered. If they had somehow lost that task, and Lisa hadn’t ponied up just herself, then I think it would have been appropriate for Clay and Penn to comment on Lisa’s behavior. Certainly if she brought either of them back, it would have been to her detriment.

It really did feel like Trump had picked who he wanted to fire, and was looking for the justification. Not that I disagree. Paul stepped up to be the PM when no one wanted it, but he didn’t do anything. Sure, he said he didn’t know improv or puppets and would rely on his team, and sure he had a back injury. But he didn’t decide anything, he didn’t direct anything, he didn’t provide any guidelines or oversight or evaluation. He had to be prompted by Audrey through Arsenio about schedule issues. He was completely worthless on this task.

Now I’m also suspicious that he might have been sedated, and that also contributed to both is calmness and his lack of input. But he didn’t lead this task.

As for picking Arsenio, he was trying to say that he has more work experience with Arsenio and is more comfortable knowing what Arsenio is capable of, so a minor error in puppet design by being too specific did not offset his overall abilities. Now Aubrey really didn’t belong being brought back - she did well on this task. And he effed up by not bringing Arsenio, who would have supported him in the boardroom. Aubrey was trying to support keeping Teresa. So that was poor strategy, but Paul playing by “who shouldn’t be fired”, not “how do I keep from getting fired”.

You know, I try to take people at face value, give them the benefit of the doubt. Aubrey has shown herself to be a two-faced backstabbing bastard, so we all don’t trust her. This finally pushed me over the edge on Lisa. I don’t trust her boardroom antics. Her breaking down in the boardroom and crying again? Her “I don’t want to make girls cry”? Hey Lisa, you don’t want to be a flaming nasty bitch, don’t act like a flaming nasty bitch! First rule of priority, show a little respect to your teammates. So you think Dayana is a talentless mannequin that Trump just hired to look at, don’t say that to her. Find some way to make her useful. Tell her that the task this time is better suited to the three professional performers. But don’t dismiss her efforts on the puppet as makework.

Lisa is clearly messed up. She rants on Dayana, saying she doesn’t have any respect for the backstage and support people, then turns around and dumps on Dayana’s work making the puppet, and won’t even let Dayana help hand props to them. Fuck that.

Didn’t Aubrey even call her on it? Hey Lisa, when your buddy Aubrey calls you on your crying, you know you’re not selling it.

That’s Trump being his usual clueless self. He’s always saying shit in the boardroom like he has no clue, trying to talk up people who suck, and then make sexist comments without realizing how belittling he makes it. He’s been saying that about Lisa all season, that she’s really a nice person and her reputation is just an act.

It’s like he didn’t watch the show.

Potential spoiler for Sunday nights Firing.

Aubrey O’Day is on Leno’s guest list on Monday night, Adam Carolla was on Leno the day after he was fired.

One other comment on Lisa as the PM. If they had somehow managed to lose that task, and if Lisa had brought Dayana only back, so it was a one on one fight, I would think Dayana would have a strong argument once again that Lisa deliberately dismissed and omitted her in any way from contributing, despite that she offered to try the improv, despite that she asked if there was any way she could contribute. If the task didn’t work, the don’t fire the person who was prevented from contributing, fire the person who was responsible for the task and who completely disregarded one of her teammates. “Your team failed, and you had someone you didn’t utelize at all - not she didn’t try to contribute, but you didn’t let her contribute. Creative control was yours, the choice of how blue to go was yours, the role assignments were yours. You’re fired.”

God, Aubrey just gets more and more loathsome.

“I wrote the slogan down on my secret piece of paper before Arsenio could make a contribution!”

Arsenio and Aubrey’s piggyback ride was a surprise. From his happy reaction maybe she was going commando? I haven’t seen Arsenio smile that big the whole season.

I thought this episode we did see just how intelligent Aubrey is. It’s a shame she’s also so self-centered and manipulative. I was on her Twitter page eariler and didn’t see any tweets from the other celebs. Lots of fan tweets, but nada from the celebs on CA.

I’m amazed Clay didn’t get sent home. He really should have been held responsible for that project. But, I guess Penn’s slogan “you earned it” did earn him a trip home.

Its incredible on how dysfunctional the women were to begin the show, that they have 4 of the final six. Arsenio and Clay are the only two guys and Lisa, Aubrey, Theresa, and Dayana are left for the women.

Love Dayana saying that Lisa is going to “Bust her Peanuts”.

Anyone find it humorous that “You Earned It” as a slogan was judged to be too “pompous” for the Trump Brand? Ironically, Trump didn’t mind the slogan.

No, I saw her Spanx.

From the previews it looks like Lisa is her old self next week, and even Clay is acting up.

Color me confused. I thought Aubrey’s display sucked. It looked like amateur hour. The smell sticks, though, were genius.

Clay’s display looked fantastic, like something they could simply tweak and make the actual campaign. Their presentation wasn’t as good as Aubrey’s. I do think that both of the designs had flaws, though. But neither ran away with the win.

Penn was probably the right pick. He’s been sort of low energy and low involvement, kind of like Paul last week. I expected really great things from him, and he sort of under-delivered. He wasn’t terrible, but nowhere near the level of smarts I expected from him. So no great loss there.

Aubrey is possibly the most poisonous CA contestant ever. She’s out-Omarosa-ing Omarosa.

Can someone clarify who should get the most credit for the quote? I wasn’t paying that much attention at the beginning, but I suspect they both contributed - pretty amazing how zealously Aubrey moved to claim full credit for the idea.

The edit showed Aubrey coming up with the quote and then Arsenio got on the Internet and found a video of Trump saying the same thing.

I’d say Aubrey gets credit in this one case. But, seeing Trump use the quote really validated the decision for the team. You can’t go wrong using Trumps own words.

Penn deserved to go, just for specifically NOT wanting to be PM.

What a jerk! “Oh Clay, I don’t know anything about this stuff, YOU be PM…” Then Mr. Know-nothing pretty much is the fountain of ideas and runs the whole task?! Way to step up there, Penn. I was glad to hear Clay mention this very crucial point, although the edit didn’t belabour it, when he said something to the effect of having bigger balls than Penn lol

It was absolutely not a coincidence that Arsenio got sent on the shopping trip with Teresa, nor was it coincidence that the timing perfectly coincided with Eric Trump arriving at the workspace. Aubrey is extremely devious. She knew Eric was on the way over, so she set up some one-on-one alone time with the boss so he wouldn’t be able to get any feedback from the other team members.

Lisa’s funniest moments were in the boardroom, showing her facial expressions when Dayana was being lauded. It looked like she vomited into her own mouth a little. Man, I can’t stand that fake bitch.

The moment Trump said “I want to fire you Dayana, I really do!” if I was Dayana, I would’ve got up and said to him: “You know what? I dont need to take this kind of abuse to support my charity, I will donate $20.000 (or whatever) to my charity and to you Mr Trump I give you my middle finger”… figuratively speaking…

I have never seem anyone take the kind of abuse that Dayana has taken in any kind of reality show and to handle it the way Dayana has and from all the episodes that I have seen she did not deserve to be on the boardroom so many times but there has to be a point that enough is enough.
If language barriers is an issue then she shouldn’t be there in the first place.
Imo from what I’ve seen she is the big winner this season.
I hope this looks bad on Trump and sticks out like a sore thumb.

The thing about Dayana though is… well, this time she got high praise for ‘contributing.’ So far as I saw, her contribution amounted to posing for a picture.

Unless the final task is going to be ‘create the most beautiful picture of yourself’ I can’t see her having any chance of winning it.

OTOH, Aubrey is an utter snake, but dammit, she DOES come up with ideas. And she’s not at all shy about ordering the rest of the team around to get them accomplished.

I think a Clay v. Aubrey final is now inevitable. Trump will LOVE that he can bill it as a grudge match: It will be their third matchup. Clay won the first, Aubrey the second. Who will be the final winner?

I think they may have given the win to Aubrey this week just in order to set up the drama for the finale in exactly this way.

But thats just it. Dayana has been constantly been shut down for anything creative related by the other women (Lisa) so I dont know if she could win this or not.
We are now talking of a Clay/Aubrey finale. Does anyone believe that if any of them were bullied the way Dayana was we would be talking about it?

I dont understand how Aubrey is still in the game after the tantrum with Arsenio?
Lisa? Please.
This show is not about competent people, its about who makes the most noise.
I feel that some of the people that were fired like Penn, Paul, and others wanted out.
This season the show has dropped to a level that makes me uneasy. Bullying seems to be rewarded in the show and I have a problem with that.

Clay what has he shown to be worthy being in the finale?

Anyone see the hypocrisy or irony that Aubrey’s Charity is anti-bullying, considering her best friend on the show is Lisa who has been bullying Dayana all season?

Aubrey does some pretty decent bullying herself.

Another great recap from Dalton Ross, on the fact that the rules of the show are, well, nonexistent.
