Celebrity Apprentice (spring 2012) [edited title]

I think that firing Paul was the right move since as PM, it was ultimately his decision on who did what. While Aubrey apparently did a pretty good job with hosting, she would have been a much better puppeteer than Theresa. In the end, it’s all about the puppets, not the host.

Lisa really needs to get her Valium refilled.

Really? If Aubrey had just said straight out “Theresa is dumb as a box of rocks” that would have been better? The Trumps are always trying to tease out drama in the Board Room. ISTM, Aubrey was trying to be honest with a bit of soft spin. I thought she was great this week.

Not for the first time, Dalton Ross’s recap is way more entertaining than the show.

She didn’t need to say anything about it at all – I don’t think anyone is under the misapprehension that she isn’t as dumb as a box of rocks. Calling her “delightfully unfettered” or “refreshingly unfiltered” or whatever – just nasty. But she’s a nasty piece of work, has been since day one.

Dayana’s response to this was pitch perfect.

I don’t know if she’s “the next great business mogul” (or whatever “The Apprentice” is supposed to be pretending to find) but she should be getting offers left and right to be in charge of someone’s public relations/press. She knows both what to say and when to be silent.

I think Paul might have literally been sedated. If he actually did have some back issues, I don’t see how on earth he wouldn’t be on the best (maybe over-the-counter, maybe not) pain relief available.

I think Paul’s best defense, though I didn’t see it used, may have been the fact that nobody else would be the project manager. He pretty much offered himself up to the headsman’s axe before the task even began. He admitted he knew absolutely nothing about what the task might entail, that he would be relying completely on his team to get the job done. I don’t think it’s overly fair to fire him, when he was the only person with enough balls to be the PM.

Paul has already won money for his charity. Arsenio has won money for his charity. Therefore, it should have been either Aubrey or Theresa who stepped up to the plate.

God, Lisa is a nasty piece of work. With absolutely no filter.

She had a go at Clay when he simply pointed out that getting rid of Lou was not exactly something to brag about. She’s a straight up bully, despicable to the core. If she’s trying to establish herself as the Queen of Mean, mission accomplished. We all know Don Rickles, but he’s known as a nice guy in the industry. His meanness is schtick. With Lisa, it’s to the bone.

Thing is, you figure that she’s smarter than she lets on. Joan Rivers was a bitch, but she’s old, she’s a legend, and given all she’s dealt with in life, you had some sympathy and understanding why she is the way she is. Lisa is a hater, she has a ridiculous hate-on for Dayana (who honestly I had no time for previously, but now I see that she is a pretty amazing young lady. And beautiful, inside and out. (Her imitation of Lisa’s water works was hilarious.)

I sort of wish Penn or Clay had stepped in when she had her meltdown… and the nerve to turn it around like she was the victim. Dayana once again wins the battle for class!

Other than that, pretty lackluster ep. I will give Lisa points for mentioning Debbie Gibson’s mega-dump on air.

Yeah, Trump loses a lot of points in my book for this one. It’s not like the choice of who switched teams was random. Trump made the choice and he made it knowing full well that the upcoming task involved entertaining, comedy, and improv. To pick Clay to join Penn and Lisa was just downright unfair. He should have chosen Paul to move over, that would have been at least a little bit less unbalanced.

Yeah, it became clear early on that Trump was going to fire Paul, and that whole thing about not bringing back Arsenio was a wild attempt at justification.

That being said, I do think that Paul should have been fired. But it should have been solely because he was the project manager and didn’t do a very good job at that. But then I think that the PM should be the default to fire, unless there is some very overwhelming reason why some other team member was largely responsible for the loss.

Seriously, I have come to believe that Lisa is mentally unbalanced and needs major psychiatric treatment. It’s not just that she’s mean, vicious, spiteful, hateful, and filled with unbelievable vitriol. But it was painfully evident from her latest rant that she’s way out of touch with reality. She has this odd belief that all responsibility always falls onto her, both good and bad. In her mind, she does all the work that leads to victory, and she always has the job of “handling” other team members, in the broadest possible meaning of “handling”. In her mind, no other team member ever does anything significant, and – as she spewed at Penn and Clay – no other team member ever “helps” her when (only in her mind) some other team member gets out of line.

I think it’s obvious to see why Lisa and Aubry get along so well.

Oh, and earlier when I called Aubry two-timing, I meant two-faced :o.

Paul really surprised me during his time on the show. Granted, the only time I’ve seen him on TV before was on clips on “The Soup”, but even when he wasn’t sedated he was so different than I expected. And his response to being fired was pretty classy.

Lisa’s waterworks were merely an imitation of waterworks.

I think she was totally faking it. She really tried to get some actual tears to come out, but her eyes stayed dry as cold bones.

I am really beginning to have a strong dislike for her. She has some serious mental issues, IMO. What would any charity say, having seen her performance? Would they really want Lisa Lampanelli championing their cause?

I’d think twice about associating myself with a poison human being such as her, after this show; not good for public image.

I forgot this in my previous post:

Can anyone explain to me what Trump said to Lisa after she cried? It sounded like he was saying that after her stint on Celebrity Apprentice, she would not be perceived as being as mean/nasty as people used to think. WTF? No one could watch this and think anything but that she’s a mean, nasty, vicious person through and through. So what was Trump saying?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Brian Henson’s assistant/co-worker/whatever-he-was, was “the wigmaster” on an episode of Seinfeld.

Just Googled him, he’s Patrick Bristow.

He was saying that people wouldn’t perceive her as mean or nasty.

Yeah, it was an all-time top-ten “WTF” Trumpism, fer sher.

For real? I thought I recognized him. I wish I hadn’t erased this week’s ep from my DVR now so I could go back and check.

Yup. The end result was right, even if the road there was winding and tortured. Paul did the right thing for bringing back Ronald McDonald and Jersey Shore, and he should have been cut because he was the PM and was dead throughout the entire project. New Jersey was just plain terrible, I should add, but he was lousy as a PM, and it looks like Arsenio and Red ran the whole thing, and for once not because Red was being bossy.

I also agree that it was a good call to have Lisa, Penn and Clay be the performers. Before the task began I thought, “If Lisa and Penn lose this one, they should never show their faces in Hollywood again,” but that doesn’t mean Lisa had to lose her shit like the sociopath she is because Dayana asked for some way to be incorporated into the performance. Another WTF here for her asking Clay and Penn to back her up. “You should have helped me bark at and tear down this kind woman who was politely asking me a question!” Yeah, no, you crazy bitch.

If anything, I lost some respect for Penn and Clay for not going back at Lisa. When Penn offered to go talk to Dayana, he was obviously doing so to get the hell out of that room, but he and Clay should have taken Lisa to task for her over-the-top, bullying, completely unjustified ranting. She has shown herself to be a truly despicable, prejudicial, mean-spirited bitch throughout, and her protestations to the contrary (regarding her “waterworks” at not wanting to make people cry) ring hollow. She’s a real piece of work, and the sooner she is off this show the better.

What he said was just that, what he meant was “Please don’t turn the mean, nasty, vicious personality on me!”

I really wanted to see Clay yell at Lisa to “Shut up you fucking cunt!” That would have been the all-time best CA moment.

Well, Lisa Lampanelli has really got a screw loose if you ask me. As Roadfood mentioned it isn’t just her temper, it is her persecution complex and the idea that everyone is against her and she has to do everything. I also find her to be very hypocritical. She is railing on Dayana for not caring about the behind-the-scenes people, she loves the unsung heroes of the entertainment biz, and then she turns right around and basically says making a puppet is make work for monkeys. Also she called Dayana a bitch, which of course she chided Arsenio for using that language a couple of weeks ago. She is just ugly inside and out.

While I dislike Aubrey generally, note that she is lacking certain business etiquette and can be somewhat conniving I do think she actually has pretty good sensibilities about what is and isn’t needed for a project to succeed. I also don’t blame her for trying to be diplomatic toward Theresa, despite the fact that Theresa could not get the one cardinal rule of Improv right. And names are important, seriously? Theresa normally should have gone but the truth was Paul did too little and it’s unfortunate that this was probably the perfect task for him NOT to be PM on.

I am a big fan of Dayana’s class, calm , and work ethic. I like Penn, but he seems to be mailing it in at this point. Arsenio is ok. In my mind Clay Aiken is the front runner and it isn’t even close at this point.

According to Clays Blog, Lisa really isn’t as crazy as the edits would have us think. That three minutes was taken from two days of everyone getting along fine.
While I understand Dayana’s desire to have some more to do, I think Lisa probably just got annoying over her asking over and over when there was nothing and Lisa finally blew her top from the stress of it. As Clay said, there really isn’t always something for everyone to do. Dayana was afraid of getting to the board room and being slammed for doing nothing. It was a no win situation for her that ended up working out because Lisa lost her sh*t.
