Jim Lange, radio host, and better known as the first host of the 1960s The Dating Game has died. He was 81.
Stand-up comedian and country singer Tim Wilson, who infused original songs into his comedy, died in Columbus, Ga., on Wednesday night of a massive heart attack, his manager Chris Dipetta told TODAY.

Bummer. I used to listen to him all the time on The Bob and Tom Show (which I don’t even get in this area anymore).
Aaron Allston, SF author and gamer, has died at age 53. I liked his two Doc Sidhe novels and always hoped he’d be able to publish another one.
Jim Lange died in Mill Valley, CA which is just north across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. I was just reading the other day that Mill Valley is the town where Mariel Hemingway was born, in 1961.
And, Jim Lange was a former Marine.

As for its short length, timing may have been an issue. The idea occurred to me on December 30 so we only had one day to collect picks. In subsequent years, we had a month for people to post their picks.
