Tonight is the big opening of Celine Dion’s three year run at Caesars Palace. They built a new, 4000 seat theater just for her, and she will be having Cirque du Soleil in the background. While the verdict is not in about this show, tickets are already sold out until May.
Assuming Celine can pull off this 3 year gig ($100 million), who else could follow in her footsteps?
It would have to be someone with a big fan base.
Someone who is still in their prime - or at least able to pull off doing the old songs.
I’ll give you my recommendations DMark as long as you can swear on behalf of ALL of Las Vegas (love you crazy people)
that once you have Celine, you’ll keep her.
I mean Las Vegas is like a giant entertainment wildlife preserve in which you sequester those too dangerous to let run amok.
Actually, Wayne (at the Stardust) was just voted “Most In Need Of A New Act” by the local newspaper. That said, the dude still sells out night after night, and those who see him, love him.
There are some wags on the Strip who claim she will never last the entire three year run…but then again, they said that years ago about two odd Germans with a white tiger.
Sorry gorillacus, once Celine’s three year stint is over, her heart will go on - far from here!
In their prime? Since CD has never been anywhere close to a “prime” aren’t you excluding her from consideration???
(A review of her new album in the paper tonight. The critic had a really hard time trying to find anything remotely positive to say about anything she has ever done, let alone her new work.)
Let Vegas have her. As long as I never have to hear her sing, I’m happy.
