I hadn’t seen your last post when i hit Submit. I am sorry for the mean tone of my reply.
My original post was more to share with dopers a section of the website that I found particularly funny, I meant no offense.
No offense taken, but hopefully the point was illustrated-unless someone spends a pretty large amount of time there, poring over the intimate details of the site, it’s hard to tell whether it’s satirical or not. I didn’t look at the URL, didn’t click too far into “Kidz”, and I didn’t realize it was mad satire-mostly because I believe there are groups out there who would openly espouse such ideas on the web.

Maybe the SDMB should have a service where, the day (week?) before April 1st, there’s a big blinking neon sign at the top of the forums that says “APRIL FOOLS IS COMING! Don’t trust the internet on 4/1!”

I think they should have that sign up 365 days a year, April Fool’s or not.
Reminds me of the story of the internet vacuum cleaner that used to go around every April 1st.

I get redirected to PAYSFORSURVEYS.COM whenever I try to go to these sites.
IIRC, someone told me there’s a comment on the page explaining why that is. Is that still there?
I’m fairly sure it’s not my PC.
As I noted in this post in the jesussaves: satire or very creepy. I can’t decide. thread, the objective.jesussaves web site (which, I’m pretty sure, is run by the landover.org crowd), has succeeded in getting past the BS detectors of quite a few Dopers. (Maybe we need a sticky thread warning folks about it at the top of the Pit.)

It’s not abuse, it’s over-care! Besides, I’m poor and new to orchids, I’d just kill expensive ones! These trashy orchids just love all of the attention I give them.

Well, Adaware and Spybot found some minor stuff, which I let them take care of, but it still redirects. I’m in the USA, FWIW.
And, it redirects even under Mandrake Linux. I think that pretty much rules out any problem on my side. Maybe I’ll start GQ question about this.
Um… Probably not. As long as you’re a guest, see, no one can see your post count. Just your join date. So no one here really has any way of knowing how many times you’ve posted or in what forums or why.
I don’t know. I mean, yeah, gobear and Homebrew were maybe a little bit snarky. It’s hard for me to see how that warrants this kind of a “You people are the reason I’m leaving the Dope!” response. Snarky’s just one of those things - you shouldn’t let it get to you so much. There’s too much of it in the world to do otherwise.
I have to say, it is April 1st. You gotta expect two things: people are going to try and put one over on you, and people are going to give you a little shit for falling for it. It’s all in the spirit of April Fools. Not worth flipping out over it.
