Central PA Dopefest?

I have a 6-quart crock pot, if we need it for reheating chili (but if someone’s chili eats a hole through the ceramic crock, then someone owes me $50.00  ). Just post here if you think I should bring it.

We have electric service available at the pavilion, and I’m bringing cords, so you can plug in whatever you’d like, excepting the posts by DocCathode on the previous page.

A propane grille will also be available-it has a side burner in addition to the main cooking surface.

Nah. If you’ve been reading the Pit, you’ll see that I don’t want to have anything to do with any forms ever again.

Robin

Now who really puts absinthe in chili these days since Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec died?

Dude, ix-nay on the ecret-say ecipe-ray!

Having met you, I have only one thing to say:

PFFFFT!

If’n you weren’t attached and if’n you were attracted to very, very large men, I’d be looking for a secluded copse of trees to drag you into.

I am still planning to bring Polycarp and Skulldigger with me, for the fest.

I am mostly posting this so that those of you wondering will know that he has not been online for a bit, and expects not to have the Internet available until perhaps July, or later. (More of the same reasons as the last time he was not with us for a while.)

Prayers can’t hurt.

Tris

I am perhaps dense, stupid or forgetful (take your pick), but why was he away before? I got no problem with praying, but I do like to know what I’m praying about.

Norine, check your e-mail.

Someone in a position of power (Cecil, I’m lookin’ yer way) should really have a talk with The Main Upstairs*. Maybe with some brass knuckles or something. It is striking that a man of his education and overall skill is struggling.

[sub]Hey, Man Upstairs? If you’re reading this? Don’t help my “believin’” cause none what you’re doing to this guy. Straighten up and fly right, damnit!;)[/sub]

So maybe this dopefest will turn into something like ChiDope, with people flashing their body parts and public make-out sessions?!?

Heh, cool!

And then we can all get called nasty names and accused of criminal dealings anonymously on that nameless anonymous journal thingy which shall not be named lest the Spirit of Don’t-Bring-It-On-The-Board get vengeful…

OK so TTO and I* have made hotel reservations. Gettysburg was all booked up, so we got a room in neighboring Hanover, which is only 14 miles away.

It has two queen-sized beds, which I am hoping to save for Anita Vacation and OpalCat. So you guys better make it!!

  • Personal note to Ginger: no we’re not

Which one? We’ve got a room in a Hanover hotel as well – cheapest hotel we could find that wasn’t infested and wasn’t 45 minutes away. I’ll be sending them a pound of flesh in the mail…

I’m currently neither willing nor able (my HMO suddenly took Concerta off their formulary. The transition back to methylphenidate thrice a day has been a bumpy one. Fortunately, my doctor has written the apropriate letters and I can pick up my Concerta tomorrow.) to read 7 pages of this.

How long is this thing planned for?

Roughly 11 AM until the park closes, I assume at dusk. Which, on June 19, will be somewhere around 9:30 PM, probably.

Ah, danke. With talk of motels and such, I had wondered if it was meant to last more than one day.

Some people are talking about staying over either because of long driving distances home, or they want to do some sightseeing the following day. I don’t think there’s anything formal planned.

And yes, we have the pavilion from 11 am until dusk. The Weather Channel doesn’t go up to the 19th yet, but sunset on the 18th is 8:41 pm.

Robin

I suspect that there will be plenty of attendees who stay until the very end, and normally, I might be one of them. But with a little one with us, and a 2 hour drive home, probably not. When my little girl doesn’t get enough sleep, she doesn’t make up for it by sleeping later the next morning; she’s just crabby the next day.

I need to make a slight change. In addition to sausage rolls and cheese bread, I’m bringing a gentleman. Former Doper HJay will be joining me. He writes military and science fiction and wouldn’t mind the excuse to get out to Gettysburg. He’s also Polycarp’s brother in spirit, so something tells me we’re going to have some good theology discussions! He’s in a short story collection called Civil War Fantastic, if anyone’s interested. This means I’ll be travelling with him, rather than one of the other Pittsburgh Dopers, I’m afraid.

This is going to be one heck of a party!
