Well, I’m a pretty strong believer in “if it was meant to be, it will be”. If dwalin can’t come, I will assume that, if he had, my daughter would have fallen in love with him, he would have broken her heart, hubby would have to kill him, then 'punha would never speak to me again, and then where would I be?
Let me know if you need a ride.
Cumberland, MD ?
Twickster Thanks. My guess is that I’ll need to ride with you.
You know why they don’t send donkeys to college, don’t you? Because nobody likes a smart ass!
Then explain a couple of my professors, please?
Robin
Less than a week to go and I just found out about this thing (thanks to danceswithcats mentioning it in another post). I really need to wander out of GQ more often, especially since this thing is right in my back yard  I happen to live in Hanover, the tiny little next town over that is now doubling in size with everyone coming to stay next weekend.
Anyway, what do I need to bring? Is there a shortage of anything? More soda? munchies?
I’ll be bringing Mrs Geek along too if anyone is keeping a head count.
That’s a hoot! I’m just outside of town in the Pigeon Hills. We’ve got out of town Dopers coming to stay in our fair burb.
Head count is ~ 50. The last ‘who is bringing what posting’ is a page or so back, along with location specifics.
Ask any other questions you may have. Glad to have you along!
A soldering gun, 50 feet of fine, threaded copper wire, a roll of plumber’s strap, a roll of aluminum (not foil, the heavy gauge stuff you get at Home Depot), electrical tape, duct tape, and 3 octal vacuum tubes. Also, you must find the jade monkey before the next full moon.
No goat?
Tris
Without booze there isn’t much point. I suppose we’ll have to make do with the jade monkey.
I just wanted to give you folks a heads up that I’ll be bringing one more gentleman with me. He’s not a Doper, but he’s heard about you folks and since he and HJay are both history buffs, I think they’re going to take a tour of the battlefields. Part of the deal was that we’d be back home for something going on later that evening, so we’ll be leaving mid-to-late afternoon, I think.
Catsix, I’m sorry to hear about your cat dying.
See you Saturday,
CJ
You didn’t read what I said very carefully, now did you, missy? I said they don’t send donkeys to college. I never said a few don’t wander in on their own now and then.
Not to totally change the subject or anything – I’m concerned about what non-chili eaters are gonna eat – I’m going to bring a couple of dozen hot dogs and rolls (plus ketchup and mustard). Those who are so inclined can have chili dogs. (Someone’s bringing lots and lots of napkins, right?)
Depending on what I end up doing Friday night, this will either be in addition to or instead of the carrot cake, but the dawgs are a definite.
Chili dawgs!
Robin
This calls for good hot mustard. And onions. Anyone up for bringing these items?
The mustard I had in mind was Nance’s Sharp and Creamy, not just French’s in a squeeze bottle. Harrumph.
I have a bottle of Kosciusko in the fridge I can bring, but Boarshead and Mister Mustard also have good hot mustard. Guldens will do in a pinch, but French’s Yellow just doesn’t belong on a chili dog, especially one made with the quality chili representing on Saturday.
Inasmuch as Thursday evening is shopping night for fresh peppers, garlic, and other chili ingredients, another onion or two can’t hurt. Feed them to the food processor and tupperize for Saturday.
Which kind is preferred? White, yellow, red, Spanish, Vidalia, or some of each?
Nance’s isn’t a name I recognize, Twickster. Is that perhaps a Philly specialty? Then again, my local Giant started carrying Kelchner’s-the Holy Grail of horseradish, so I’ll look.
With chili dawgs, and some of the other stuff spoken of in this thread, we may need wet wipes in addition to napkins!
Nance’s may be pretty local – dunno. I’m good for a jar of it, though you may want to check for availability – once you taste it, you’re going to want a jar of your very own, and I could arrange to bring one out for you. (The first one’s free, little boy…)
I’m good for at least a bottle or two of mustard. One Gulden’s and one, spicier variety.
Is anyone bringing burgers? Is there even a call for burgers?
Robin
