Central PA Dopefest?

Thanks for sharing, 'punha.

Another vote for onions meant to be eaten raw – Spanish or Vidalia.

I think, but am not sure, that the watermelon we bring will be kosher. Ice cream, too (fizzy won’t let me get Raw Hot Dog ice cream). As long as there isn’t anything meaty that touches the cookies, they’re ok, right?

Hmmm… apparently I’ve got less than a week to come up with a jade monkey as well. And vacuum tubes? We stopped using those a few decades ago. The jade monkey might be easier.

Seriously though, hot dogs and buns ok? (beef dogs and I’ll look to make sure they are non-dairy buns) or was I missing something from your other post? Do we still need burgers?

I’ll put a vote in for red onions.

I can’t believe it, but I am definately going to need to bring more sodas. Problem is, the two coolers I have are not going to hold any more. I guess I will just rotate some sodas through the Ice after I get there.

And more Kimchi. Who’d a thunk it?

Tris

So after seeing all the food being brought…

Who’s going to bring the small African nation?

I was going to bring the medium-sized cooler for the dawgs and sodas for the road, but I do have a large cooler, also – should I bring that?

e_c_g – dawgs and buns are great, perfect. Thanks!

Looks like we’ll need a small grove simply to hold all the food and beverage.

add me in for bbq (boneless) chicken breasts…in addition to the cornbread (and whatever else I think of between now and then).

T-shirts were mentioned earlier in the thread. Is this still going to happen? I wasn’t planning on bringing any cash, but I will if shirts are available for purchase.

And I will have a large styrofoam cooler that can be put to use for soda, food, unruly children if necessary…

I certainly hope that’s one large, sturdy cooler! My 17-year-old can get pretty feisty when she’s in an enclosed space  .

I’m still going to pick up a few cases of soda, both diet and regular (read: somewhere between 48 and 96 cans total.) I’ve also got one full case of 28 bottles of 24 oz bottled water and another almost-full case (24 or 25 bottles) of 24 oz bottled water. Boy, my car is gonna start handling like a pig with all that weight in the back.

Any specific requests on the soda? As I said, I don’t have a cooler, so none of it will be cold at first, although I could probably buy and toss some of those styrofoam ones that are currently on sale.

Also, would anyone mind if I possibly brought a friend from school? I haven’t asked her yet, but I don’t know if she’s ever made it to the area (she’s a foreign student from Hong Kong).

Just tell her to say “Hi, Opal!” and “Gotcha ya” as much as possible – we’ll never know she’s not “one of us.”

I’m can’t believe I’m actually going to post this…
Need a 1920’s style tranquilizer gun?
I feel so filthy…

In an attempt to help anyone else that is bringing drinks, weighing down the back of my car are:

Approximately 50 24 oz bottles of water
2 12-packs of Pepsi
2 12-packs of Diet Pepsi
1 12-pack of Pepsi Vanilla
1 12-pack of Diet Pepsi Vanilla
1 12-pack of Sierra Mist
1 12-pack of Diet Sierra Mist
1 8-pack of Coke C2 (Hey, the store was having a great intro price on the stuff)

My poor car now handles like a pig and runs sluggishly thanks to all that. I guess having 19 gallons (153 pounds) of water plus packaging in the back will do that. The store I bought this from is having a no-limit buy-one-get-one sale on Pepsi products, as well as Dr. Pepper (not sure about 7-Up products), so if there are any other requests, I can go pick up another couple of 12-packs.

I could single-handedly go through a 12-pack of Diet Dr Pepper (the quaff of the gods). I’ll be happy to throw a few bucks your way for this…

Does anyone else coming to this thing knit? Enough people to make the possibility of a little bit of a Stitch & Bitch sometime during the day worthwhile?

I hand-sew. Can I join in?

DocCathode, my homemade bean dips are fine for you as well- just beans and flavorings (no meat or diary whatsoever). I just got a two thumbs up approval on the jalapeno flavor, and my sorta sweet lemon pepper is to die for (at least my roommate thinks so!)

Additonal note…

Anyone drink unsweetened iced tea? I have a container of loose leaves I don’t use for hot that I can brew and ice…

I crochet. I’ll bring my current project but I don’t know how much I’ll get done on it.

DocCathode, scuba_ben: I thought you needed to have a rabbi present, and food prepared in a kosher kitchen, in order for it to be a-ok for you to eat? I have a friend who is Orthodox, and it would be simpler and easier for me to kill and eat him and his wife than it would be for me to feed them.

At any rate. I am not bringing homemade pie as it’s a million damned degrees here and I’m working all this week. I’ll still bring something dessert-like, unless anyone has another suggestion. Whatever it is, will be kosher.
