How you doin’?
Oh, the shame.
There will be pie. However, the crust refused to come together, so it’s a (gasp) bought crust. I don’t know how well it turned out, and I’m not about to try it.
I will be making a pareve Apple Cake tomorrow night or Saturday morning. So you may have your dessert soon after lunch! Huzzah!
The brownies have morphed into Atkins-friendly Splenda brownies, for those who care.
And we’ll be two very large men in a little blue Cutlass Ciera.
I looked up the area on Mapquest, and I saw a Long Lane in the western part of Gettysburg (west of PA 134), not easily accesible from US 30 without going through about three other streets before that. On the map, it looks like the end of the road parallels a bunch of parkland or something similar. That right?
If anyone cares, I’m driving the aforementioned burgundy Subaru Impreza wagon with New Mexico plates. Trust me, you do not see a lot of those driving around anywhere, but especially not in this part of the country. I might have my ugly magnetic school bumpersticker on the back as well. I’m planning to leave about 9, so, if Mapquest is right for a change, I should be there about 11:15.
Forgot to mention: Dave has a work meeting on Saturday morning. We likely will not leave here until around 11 or noon, and it’s about an hour or so from here.
Well, my little cutie already has a boyfriend (he won’t be 4 until September; already she likes younger men), but she won’t kiss him, because he’s a boy, and boys have cooties. Except for her father, because she’s decided he’s so old all of his cooties are dead.
tsk tsk tsk Ginger, you should be ashamed of yourself. What kind of a woman makes pie crust that won’t come together? Really!.
Robin
I intend to take about a jillion digital pictures, and upload about 80 megs to a single directory on my new cheapo, but not ad supported web site. That, unfortunately won’t happen until I get back home, probably on Monday. I will be using the smallest settings, for the pictures because the big ones are just too darned big to download. After a month or so, I will probably delete at least some of them, but you all have my permission to download and save the “good ones.”
Here is one of me, and my niece. She won’t be there, but she is cute enough to put in the picture.

One who tries to make pie in this godforsaken state, where it was 97F and 80% humidity.
Bleah.
We’ll also be bringing our digicam, the pics from which will be posted to my photo site and linked to after we get back.
Dwalin, check your email, now!

My cookies are made. I fear there won’t be enough… but I’m out of chips and have no time to bake more. I think I’ve got about 6 or 7 dozen, but other people are bringing desserts too, so we’ll be okay.
I will be wearing a brightly-colored cabbie hat – depending on the rest of my outfit it will be either orange or hot pink. I’m leaning towards pink. So I should be easy to spot, assuming I find the place in the first place. So if you see a short redhead in a hot pink hat carrying a guitar and a tupperware container full of cookies, wave me over.
Oh, and my ghetto duct-taped digicam will also be along for the ride. Yay!
Somebody already mentioned sunscreen, I shall be bringing that as well as bug repellent (I have no idea how many people the bottles will cover)
I also remembered the two folding camping stools in my closet.
I shall be the handsome man wearing a hooded brown cloak, and carrying a black and brass walking stick.
With rivers of sweat running down, and flowing out of his shoes!!

Nahh. I wore it in 80 degree weather to a RenFaire a few years ago. It was surprisingly cool. The sides are open. It’s not too long.
Besides, the ladies seem to love it.
For thems keeping count, I just heard from Cleophus; he’ll be riding with Doc Cathode in the twicksmobile.
I will be wearing shorts and a T-shirt. It’s summer, people!
I’m planning to arrive around noonish. I’ll be looking for danceswithcats’s van, and I’ll rely on him for the talk-in. If you’re looking for my car as a guide, it’s a silver Toyota Solara with ham radio plates and a diver bumper sticker.
I’ll be wearing shorts and a tee shirt, under my karate team warm-up outfit.
I’ll charge up the digital camera batteries tonight. I’m still trying to find the right resolution that will make web-friendly small photos, and I can cram a LOT of photos onto my camera’s card.
A few pages back, it was noted that there are two Long Lanes, and they do not intersect. If you’re looking at the one off Steinwehr Avenue, that is the one you do not want. The correct Long Lane is just east of Gettysburg Hospital, and runs roughly perpendicular to US 30, to the south thereof.

Central PA Dopefest directions
From Phila:
PA turnpike westbound to Gettysburg Pike US-15 exit (was I-17, now I-236), take US-15 south. Take ramp right onto York Street US-30. Follow US-30 into the center of town to a circle. Go halfway around the circle, continuing to follow US-30, street name now Chambersburg Street. At the traffic light where US-30 bears right, turn left onto West Street, and proceed south. West Street dead ends at Long Lane, and the park is to your right.
From Pittsburgh:
PA turnpike eastbound to Gettysburg Pike US-15 exit. After that, follow above.
From Washington:
I-495 inner loop to I-270 towards Frederick, MD. Follow US-15 north, into PA. Take exit for PA-134/Taneytown Road towards Gettysburg. At the traffic light where PA-134 crosses US-15 Business/Steinwehr Avenue, the name changes to Washington Street. Proceed north several blocks and turn left on Gettys Street, which will dead end at Long Lane. You will be facing the park.
There you go-I’m off to cook some chili! Beans, too!
Revision-that should have read west of Gettysburg Hospital. :smack: Gad, I wish they’d enable quickedit on this board.
Thanks for the heads up. I’ve got navigation duties tomorrow, and I think I was looking at the wrong Long Lane.
I suppose I should add that I’ll be accompanied by one rather large, bearded gentleman, HJay, and one medium-sized, non-bearded one. I am a small lady, non-bearded, of course. I also haven’t ruled out wearing my Hell’s Mensan t-shirt!
