I will not answer questions on who I may or may not have been 26 years ago.
[sub]Chalk it up to a “youthful indiscretion”.[/sub]
The poster formerly known as Wandering Agnostic informs me via AIM that he may or may not come. He has work at 3 in Tyson’s Corner, about an hour and a half away, so if he comes he’ll be there until maybe 1, latest. I told him that as long as he didn’t inhale all the veggie and/or kosher dishes, it would not be a problem.
fizzy and I figure that 4 'melons ought to be enough for a crowd of 50. Anyone have a different guess?
If anyone bringing a boombox has one with a line-in, I can bring the home adaptor for my radio. As long as I can point the antenna with a clear view to the south, it’ll work and we’ll have 200 channels to choose from.
Actually, I’m going to have to bow out. I’m helping Medeaschild move, this weekend, and afterwards will be operating out of Michigan until I head to China.
Sorry. It sounds like you guys’ll have quite a fun time

I’ve gone over the list danceswithcats provided, and I can bring a few extras if thay’re needed. We have a plastic container with supplies for the annual family reunion, and if it would help I’ll bring it along (since the backseat will be open, I have room in the car.) What’s packed includes:
[ul]
[li]3 or 4 plastic tablecloths[/li][li]several aluminum serving trays[/li][li]plastic utensils, assorted[/li][li]a 10’ by 10’ tarp[/li][li]plastic cups collected from conveninece stores (Big Gulp, etc…)[/li][li]napkins[/li][li]paper towels[/li][li]a bingo set, including cards[/li][/ul]
Is it needed?
Sounds ideal! Thanks!
(though I’ve got an uneasy suspicion we’re all forgetting something obvious, and will have to take up a collection and send someone to the store…)
So what time is everyone arriving? I am thinking of about noon-ish? Am I way off base? Is this too early? Too late?
Sorry if this has been discussed before but I don’t want to go back through 7 pages!
Doc Cathode and I will be getting there noonish.
Speaking of not wanting to wade through the whole thread – DancesWithCats, any chance you could cut and paste the directions again?
How about a simple first aid kit? You know, bandages, ice packs, antibiotic cream, bee sting stick, asprin, advil, sterilizing burbon, etc.?
I should be showing up around noon-12:30-ish, simply because it’s about a 2 and a half hour drive and I can’t make myself get up and about beofre 9:30 or so.
So, can anyone give me a ride there or back? Preferably both, but even one would be nice. The way it stands now, I don’t think I have a ride there or a ride back to northern Virginia, and so I probably won’t be able to go.
But the next time there is a Dopefest, I CAN DRIVE MYSELF! Of course, that doesn’t make any difference now…
Got one in my car, with sunscreen, Betadine, etc. (no epinephrine, though)
Got a big plastic tarp, with plenty of rope.
Also have a small fire extinguisher, and two shock blankets.
Jumper cables, wheel chocks, spare water, (no, no tools.)
I took the snow shovel out, today.

Ballsy move, my friend.
Uhmm, Triskademus, I’m familiar with kim chee. I’ve smelled some made by a Korean mother for her daughter. That first aid kit of yours wouldn’t include a biohazard suit, would it? As it happens, HJay is also an ex-Navy medical corpsman and still reasonable on first aid.
It looks like the three of us will also be arriving around noon. I’m also throwing a pan of brownies into my two-night pre-Dopefest baking orgy. I’ll be bringing various and sundry games, and I’m willing to teach you how to play double- or triple deck Hearts if enough people are interested.
One thing that’s been worrying me – how do we recognize each other? Is there only one pavilion on Long Lane, or will one of the early arrivals bring some sort of a sign? I know what some of you people look like, but not all of you, and I’ve no idea what you drive. As for me, I’ll be wearing jeans and an appropriate t-shirt, and travelling in an SUV with Maine license plates.
See you soon!

Me, my wife, 4 year old boy with buzz-cut. I have a green Jetta with a couple racing stickers on the rear windshield. As far as specific wardrobe, I have no clue. Bank on it including my beloved Red Sox cap, though. We’ll aiming for around noon-ish as well.
Potato salad starts tonight, chili tomorrow.
I think either MsRobyn or DancesWithCats said she or he would put up an “SDMB” sign on the pavilion.
Or, we could play Marco Polo, Doper-style:
“Cecil!” “Adams!”
There are three pavilions on Long Lane, and you want to head towards the south. Kiwanis is where we are/will be located. One of the more visible keys is my truck-a blue van with a firemans lightbar on the roof. You ought to be able to spot that from Long Lane.
I will be driving a tan 2000 Toyota Corolla. (Yeah, like there won’t be four of those in the parking lot!)
I will be with Polycarp, and Skulldigger.
I look like Santa Claus.
I will have a gallon jug of Kimchi.
Just sniff, you’ll find me.
Tris
There will be an SDMB sign, graciously provided by the borough parks department.
I will be driving a white Toyota RAV4 that smells vaguely of skunk.
Robin
We will be driving a '97 Grand Caravan, dark green over silver. It will be me, hubby (who looks suspiciously like Gabe Kaplan from Welcome Back Kotter), my 13 year old daughter, and my 4 year old daughter, who is cuter than is allowed by law. I think we should be arriving 11:30ish.
