Challenge to match poll percentages Part 3: Blind but can communicate to each other.

I went to a random number generator.

I figured I’d follow these results:

1-5 = 5%
6-15 = 10%
16-30 = 15%
31-50 = 20%
51-00 = 50%

I got a 5 so I voted for 5%.

I voted 50%-need more 50 and 15

Okay, these threads are getting a little out of hand. I mean, it’s good fun and interesting and all, but really, they’re more suited for the Game Room than IMHO, since they’re not really looking for any kind of opinion on any sort of topic.

So I’ve moved this one, along with the other two, to the Game Room.

Based on this, I voted 50%. Current numbers:

50%: 16 (48%)
20%: 5 (15%)
15%: 3 (9%)
10%: 5 (15%)
05%: 4 (12%)

Voted 20%

50% - 47.06%
20% - 17.65%
15% - 8.82%
10% - 14.71%
5% - 11.76%

I rolled dice, and the dice told me to pick 50%. If everyone used this method, we would hit the target (or at least, get quite close to it).

As it is, 10 and 5 are way over-represented, 15 is way under-represented, and 20 and 50 are both under, but close.

With 40 votes cast:

50% - 50 (20)
20% - 17.50 (7)
15% - 10 (4)
10% - 12.5 (5)
5% - 10 (4)

Still need a couple of 15% votes.

With 42 votes cast:

50% - 20 votes - Need 20 more to make 40
20% - 7 votes - Need 9 more to make 16
15% - 6 votes - Need 6 more to make 12
10% -5 votes - Need 3 more to make 8
5% - 4 votes

I voted for 15%. I did not look at the results prior to voting. The poll results show 15% to be checking in at 18.18%. I’m certainly rooting for all of the other percentages, at this point. (As long as they’re not currently over represented.)
C’mon, OTHER percentages!! Wooo-Hoooo!

Stop voting for 5%, morons

20 is over

I’m going for 50.

Current status (after my vote)
50% 22 44.00%
20% 11 22.00%
15% 8 16.00%
10% 5 10.00%
5% 4 8.00%

So we again failed and pretty miserably. No one else deigned to guess a final outcome so my guess of how we’d fail is, by default, the best guess. And indeed 5% was again over 7%. Some of the others though were off a bit more than I had predicted.

Now please offer hypotheses as to why this seemingly simple goal (and the several other versions that have been floated) is apparently unachievable for this group of allegedly fairly intelligent posters?

Were the directions too unclear?

Did a few individuals intentionally spoil the game because they thought it was silly?

Or what?

I suspect it informs something about the nature of cooperation and being part of a team.
