Hmmm, had a lovely dinner with two gorgeous wimmen, crashed a comedy club, got thrown out of said comedy club, walked a big huge cicle around Charlotte, 'cos my wife is a nut, and almost got to witness/participate in a bar fight with a couple drunken red-necks.
I’d say it was a success myself. 
It was nice to finally meet you,Slainte, hopefully next time, the rest of y’all will be able to make it. We really could have used some adult supervision…
Just to clear up a mis-conception. I may live in Columbia SC, but I am just as sociable as the next person. So there.
I’ve only just discovered this thread as as I’ve been working too hard and not reading the boards lately. I’m sorry I missed it. I don’t know whether I would have gone as I’m such an uber-newbie still that I don’t know anyone and nobody knows me. Additionally, I had plans on the 1st. That said, however, I would have liked to go - and would try to attend another Charlotte Dope if one ever gets planned. Which doesn’t seem likely right now!

In the (almost) year that I’ve been on this board, the Columbia area Dopers have not held a Dopefest. Charleston has had three mini-dopes and that’s it. Thus, I don’t take y’all SC Dopers as a very social bunch.

I’m a native of Columbia, so I feel qualified to respond to that.
It’s not that we don’t want to socialize. We just, by and large, don’t want to be responsible for putting all the socializing together. Frankly, I pushed my comfort zone very nearly to the breaking point just starting this thread in the first place, and then some folks seemed to be under the impression that I was hosting this thing. :eek:
I remain sorry that things didn’t work out this time, and I do hope things will work out so that more of us can get together next time, but I don’t mind telling you, and please understand that I’m saying this with no ill-will intended or felt, but I’m out of the Dopefest planning business, to whatever extent I was ever in that business to begin with. I’m not made for it: I see this now.
Well, there have been two previous mentions of a Columbia get-together and an earlier one in Charleston.
None of them came about, and did you notice the thread-killer in each one. Coincidence??? I think not.
Poor Mjollnir. Now I see why you didn’t post to the EveFest thread - for fear of killing it!
All those threads were before I joined - I guess Columbia has given up on organizing.
