And to kind of hijack this thread a little, cuz I can, what about kicking around some dates for a quiet ChiDope. I was thinking maybe mid September. I know my original thought was mid August, but that is just not gonna happen.
A September Saturday, everyone brings something to munch on, the yard is still usable, so we have indoor and outdoor options. Apples to Apples, maybe some Twister, and of course, the pateneted Casa J&J choclatini - and this years addition, the S’more-tini mmmmmmm
So, any dates work better than others??
Jane, I would love a quite ChiDope. Chili Crack? September is looking pretty open for me, and I know UncleBeer will be in town the weekend of September 6th and 13th, but not the 20th.
As far as the next Lunch Bunch goes, I just found I out have a lunch time meeting on August 28th, and since no one chimed in either way on that date, can I suggest another day - Friday, September 5th. If not, y’all have fun w/out me on the 28th.

And since silence implies consent, especially with UncleBeer, this means he’d like to go to “The Quiet ChiDope” if it falls on either of those weekends (or any other when he’s in town, since I’d drag him along anyway). The quieter, the better. 
Yeah, well. It’s really quiet here in Sylvania, OH.

Would a newbie be welcome? I’ve been a SD fan since the first book, and a SDMB lurker for a couple of years, but only recently took the plunge. I make a mean caipirinha and one helluva batch of mango salsa.
I’m in the southwest burbs…sorta…
Newbies are always welcome TheInterruptingCow. I think that part of the appeal of a “quiet” Chi-dope is that some people are more comfortable in the informal, at home setting than a bar, loud music, tons of people setting.

I really didn’t want to start a new thread for a quiet chi-dope just yet, because I fifgure this way it’s easier to keep it quiet until maybe a week or two out. So, any other date suggestions?

Only kidding. When I had folks over it was almost no problem. And I bet you’re far better equipped to entertain than I.
Two dates don’t work for me in September – the 20th and the 28th. Other than that I’m all for it, and of course, I fully expect to help you out with preparations.
Plan on me bringing some mexi-stuff, and maybe a tiramisu.
