Chillin' in the MMP

At the risk of jinxing myself, I had another good sleep - this time, without Mel. Huzzah!!

Today’s big event is the cleanage of the pellet stove and chimney at 9 this morning. The guy’s shop is only a couple of miles away, so I expect he’ll be on time. While he’s doing the dirty work, I’ll tidy the kitchen and push around the vacuum cleaner, and toss a couple of loads into the washer - look at me, planning to be all domestical and stuff!!

I looked yesterday - I’ve got a couple of cuke plants and at least one zuke showing leaves, but no 'maters or peppers yet. And I desperately need to mow, but there’s a good chance of rain this morning and t-boomers later today. If the morning rain doesn’t happen, I’ll saddle up John Deere and at least do the back yard. We’ll see.

We’ll definitely be heading to the boat at some point this weekend. There’s stuff to be done, including figuring out a boarding ladder. Main problem is that the finger pier is really narrow, so it’s got to be mounted on the boat but it has to be removable. I’m guessing a couple of engineers can figger it out, right? I hope…

shoe - glad you’ve popped in! I was afraid when you became a big-shot manager, you’d forget all us peons!

I’m sure there was more, but my brain isn’t fully caffeinated yet. So Happy Firday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s allegedly 15c/60f out there and partly cloudy. Which is also partly sunny. The weather app says “The weather is a complete fucking bag of suck today” which appears not to be true.

shoe glad you are feeling human again and got so many things done! Go, you! Hopefully Gentleman Caller will call and be suitably appreciative

Nothing exciting in my day, irk is being irksome and I made the mistake of getting into a farcebook argument with a Brexit-supporting doilem.

Glad you have hot water and things are beginning to settle down shoe. May you enjoy some downtime with Gentleman Caller.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of sheets and towels ready for the dryer and a load of clothes (sans lipstick in a pocket) on deck. After the usual Friday chores and grocery shopping, it shall be a day of chillage that will likely include a trip to the dog park.

I like mead, but like other wine, it messes with my BG. I imbibe occasionally, but it has to be a planned thing (it sucks when you have to plan drinking).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Can see clearly now, the rain is gone, supposed to be a bright, bright sunny day with temperatures in the 70’s and nothing but blue sky.

Swimmin’ is on the agenda for this afternoon but not much else planned. Will see how it goes. Probably run the dishwasher sometime today.

Jane, thanks for the offer, but my alcohol consumption is about 2 light beers per month if that, so it would probably go to waste. Enjoy.

swampy, trust your Wellness checkup goes…well, well (I love the English language).

OK, pills taken and newspaper rescued, so onward into the day. All y’all have a good Firday.

I’m so glad you’re feeling more human, shoe - enjoy the fluttering!

I have really very little to say, but that doesn’t generally stop me. I am just so darned glad it’s Friday. My brain can’t make sense of the Texas shooting, either. Between that and what seems to be the inevitable fall of Roe, I just want to run and hide even though I know that’s not the right reaction. Texas feels like a punch to the gut, and the more news I read on it, the more it hurts. I can’t imagine what those families are going through right now.

Gotta work - hopefully I’ll get to take a short day since everyone is out.

Afternoon all, figured I’d pop in before the weekend.

Been busily doing not much here; trying to get on with project work, writin’ up the last few borin’ essays and general living things.

Coincidentially, I’ve just managed to get a bunch of the international students here into mead, but it’s really not that easy to find locally. I used to make it when I still had some bees, 'cos you can basically make it from the honey you can’t extract and would otherwise go to waste- I didn’t really get in to it though, and mine never tasted that great. It still had booze in though.

Anyway, a friend’s girlfriend is coming over to visit (from South America) today, so we’re taking her out to get fish and chips and going to the pub shortly, to see how many British cliches we can fit into one evening.

I am imbibing coffee and pondering life.

Hugs to all. Happy Friday!

Does anyone know of a lookup site to find an older Corelle pattern to make it maybe just a touch easier to replace lost/broken items in my set? Mine was purchased in the late 1990s at Walmart and is blue and white.

I probably need socialization skills myself, as I have never had a cat or dog because of allergies. Visiting a friend, who has a cat or two, for a few hours, is about my contact limit, and that’s with meds. If I stay overnight, I‘d be suffering for a while.

After cleaning cat crap out of my garden this afternoon, I am reminded of one of the other reasons for not having a cat.

So I will continue enjoying the pictures and stories of the gormless one and other mumper pets.

Sounds yummy! Is it a permanent addition to the menu?

Hope you get to put those clean sheets to good use. Catching up on sleep is also good, but maybe not as much fun.

Might be traditional, but maybe some of the blue stuff instead. Just to make it really disturbing.

Today is day 2 of a four-day weekend. Got a long to-do list and very little motivation, so I’ll try turning on the boob tube.

Drinking a slightly warmed Bee’s Kiss, because I don’t want to wait for the honey simple syrup to cool down.

(re: Arby’s orange cream shake) It’s in the “limited time” portion of the menu and from what I could find through Google, it’s a seasonal item for summer.

I’ve only been irking for four hours, and I’m out of data. End of the month, and all.

My two other accomplishments today (so far) are:

  • Verifying Lake Padden Park is not a state park, so we don’t need to pay to get in;
  • Putting my never-used Celestron C8-N on Craigslist.

Since SWMBO doesn’t want to go to the cinema tonight, I’m thinking about baking salmon for dinner. Salmon fillets, kosher salt, fresh rosemary sprigs, and lemon slices. Asparagus for the veg.

A mostly Captain Queeg free heaving. Mostly. But I get a 2 day weekend. And I have 4 cases of beer.

This seems ambitious. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

At noon we got a solid hour of rain, thunder, wind, lightning, etc. It’s now almost 2pm and things are still quiet – though it’s still drizzling – but there could be more storms later. This morning there was even briefly a tornado warning in my area (luckily, the rotation weakened almost immediately). It’s unfortunate timing, because Bailey has been having significant GI issues for the past 15-16 hours and during the storm I couldn’t let her outside. :frowning: Whatever’s going on with her is a little worse than her usual “post-boarding” episodes…I’m slightly concerned, but I won’t call the vet unless she’s still like this tomorrow.

I seem to be having some positional lightheadedness today. Very unusual for me. I notice it whenever I bend over to clean up after the doggy. I checked my BP after the last time and it was 101/76, which is low for me but not scary. I’m making a deliberate attempt to get more fluids, in the hopes that will help, and I’ll check my BP again later. I have two followups with my bariatric program (nutritionist and nurse practitioner) in the next 10 days, but if this doesn’t go away by tomorrow I’ll reach out to someone.

No pressure, Saturday, but the dog and I both need to feel better by the time we get to you! :crossed_fingers:

Yep, everyone at Wednesday’s off-site was vaccinated. It was a good day. Dinner wound up being just the three most senior managers and me – we’re also the managers who have been on the program the longest – which was nice because we have similar styles and are comfortable speaking freely in front of each other.

I like a little old mixed with my new: my Kindle Oasis has a touch screen, but it also has physical buttons for page turns (which I vastly prefer).

When I order Fairlife protein shakes from Amazon, they come from Sam’s Club. One of these days I’m going to order directly from the Sam’s Club website (no membership needed).

Yay!

I had to get smaller undies a few months ago: I have three styles from two manufacturers, and each style’s fit is completely different even though they’re all the same size. Maddening.

Dream big, I always say! :slightly_smiling_face:

Spent ~3 hours yesterday fabricating a plywood backing structure to hang our 55" flat screen in the living room only to discover we (I) forgot to put the remote into the box we packed the TV in. :scream: Spent another hour going through boxes looking for it to no avail. So Wifey ordered a pair of replacements offen the innerwebz for $20 that will be here Toosday, so it’ll magically appear Wednesday.

The ‘kids’ who are buying our old house have secured funds and want to close in 10 days. Wifey: :star_struck: And then :scream: “That means we hafta clean out the studio in 10 days”!
The studio is a separate building in the back yard, so I suspect we will be able to work something out.

Anyway, we’re heading back over there in the truck in about an hour to move more stuff out to the Daughter-unit’s house or the storage locker, which is pretty full already. Wish us luck.

Welp, it’s my turn in the shower. Then I have to put actual clothes on. Woe is me.

I put the 'yaks on top of the Jeep. They’re just held on with bungee cords, enough to get them to the beach. Unfortunately, the tides will be uncooperative even if the weather is slightly moreso. The earliest daytime high tide is 18:30 Sunday, and SWMBO says she’s not going out at 18:30. There’s always Lake Padden. It’s a bit of a drive – 25 miles for at least 30 minutes. Since whenever we go out will be the Spousal Unit’s first time paddling, and since I’m not in paddling shape yet, we’ll probably be out on the water for less than half an hour. I really don’t want to make paddling too much of a hardship on The Missus!

Found a telehealth service with a website that actually works, and a new lisinopril prescription is supposedly in the hands of my nearby CVS. Now waiting for them to process it. They need to get on that soon, since tomorrow’s dose is the last of my current supply. Pricier than the one an MMPer suggested, but since their website is actually usable and they’re still within what I can handle, it’s OK.

Also ordered myself a new wallet, which I’ve been meaning to do anyway (finding a black wallet in a black purse is NOT easy). New one, due Sunday via the Jungle, is blue and claims to block RFID. Still trying to figure out how a certain bird managed to download into my purse.

Worth knowing since yours were made before 2005.

It is very easy to fill in missing plates, bowls, cups etc. with new pieces that are the same shape and size but are plain white, still made by Corelle, so they stack together well. The lack of pattern is inconspicuous because they are still the same shape and materiel. I have done that to flesh out the older Corelle I have (wedding gifts from 1973). Here’s where I order from.

We were in Annapolis a bit later when it came thru, including a tornado watch/warning/something. Quite a toad-soaker. We’d gone to Bacon’s in search if a boarding ladder, and we found one for $40 that will work well as soon as FCD designs a mount for it. We were going to have lunch at Famous Dave’s BBQ, but it had become Uncle Julio’s, so we went to Red Lobster and had fish-n-chips. (Not completely authentic, but pretty good anyway.)

Our pellet stove and chimney have been serviced/cleaned/prepped for another heating season. We went to Annapolis after, then came home. FCD napped and I read/fell asleep/read some more. It’s been a mostly lazy afternoon. Oh, and I did a load of unders with a few babby items tossed in. So there was some productivity.

Chillage shall continue for the evening.
