Chillin' in the MMP

#6 (“Fiboratti”) was particularly well done.

It is a fun word, and describes our happy idiot so well

Animal shelters like to have folks come in and pet their kitties. It helps their socialization skills and the cats like it too. Is that a possibility for you?

I’ve always wondered why dogs don’t have issues with elevators. Is that why so many apartment dogs try to rush the door? Because they have learned that the same door can open to many different places, not just the boring ol’ hallway.

That totally sucks. Damned scammers, I’d slap them all with an old fish if I could.

I picked up our surplus produce box today and got a watermelon. I love watermelon, but I can’t eat a whole one before it goes bad, so I cut half of it up and our housekeeper is going to come by and get the other half.

While I was having lunch with my BFF she told me that there is another lady where she works who also has the 86333 zip code so is eligible for a surplus box as well. Despite us never having met, the other lady told my BFF to tell me to pick up a box for her as well.

Too bad, so sad, they won’t let folks pick up more than two boxes. My BFF suggested that the lady’s stay-at-home hubby pick up their own box, but loading the kids up in the car and then waiting for maybe half an hour in the car was too much bother for him.

NEXT the lady tried guilt tripping my BFF into giving her BFF’s boxes because BFF wasn’t feeding a family of five on a single income. My BFF is a good government employee, and highly skilled on being oblivious as needed.

Sometimes the entitlement of some people is just really staggering.

After lunch I went to get my booster and the poor young lady had to tell me that they hadn’t gotten their shipment of Moderna and they weren’t sure if they would get it next week. She looked like people had been being mean about it so I have some grumbles for them as well. I didn’t want to have to wear a short sleeved shirt twice in the same month (allergic to the sun, long sleeves are the way to go) so I got Pfizer. They didn’t give me a lollipop so I came home and opened a bottle of mead.

I think I’m going to spend the rest of the day stitching and then when the sun goes down I’ll haul out the iron and deal with our wrinkled up bed-skirt. I won’t be able to put it on the bed tonight but it will be ready for the morning.

Yay on getting your car back Moooooom. Whenever I’ve had a rental for more than a couple of days, it was always weird to get back in my own, mainly because, up until this one, I drove a manual for many years and one just doesn’t rent those in the US.

What?!?!?! swampy, no gold lame thong? :open_mouth:

flyboy, the last time I kayaked was 20 some odd years ago on the Ocoee river. The raft was a much better fit.

{{{nellie}}} Sis, who taught school in Texas for 30 years has some of the same feelings as you do right now.

That was quite the scare with Lola rebo. Glad you got her back.

shoe, your trash can punch sounds suspiciously like the purple Jesus punch of my youth. :stuck_out_tongue:

Irked, came home, walked the dog, et, took a nap and popped a pan of popcorn (pupcorn for Nelson). I made a sweet, hot and salty seasoning for it that’s like apple pie spice with a kick of cayenne.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! It has been a rainy day (even as I post) so much sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness has ensued.

Rebo :astonished: I am so glad Lola was found safe and is back home.

MOOOOOOM sorry about the Visa. The Tobester’s got talent!

Trash can punch, hunch punch, and it’s thousand other names makes MD 20/20 look like fine champagne in comparison. Yet we drank it because we were misspending our youth.

Trash can punch, Jim Jones punch. We also made strip and go naked. A case of bad beer, a handle of vodka, 2 liters of water, and a tub o’ country time lemonade mix. Ahh college.

Glad Lola made it back safe!

I’ve been looking at the local dog rescues for a pup, so I’m working on it. I want to find one who is good with other dogs, as my last 2 were total sweethearts with people, but hated other dogs, and that’s a pain in the rear. Gotta do some visits.

Arby’s actually now has a burger on the menu, and it’s pretty decent for a fast food burger. The orange cream shake is great!

Both DH and I are still feeling pretty cruddy. Buddy’s latest owie (top of the head) is healing well, it seems, and he’s really very tolerant of peroxide and Neosporin on wounds. I think he understands that these things help him get better faster. Allie and Misty remain their usual selves.

While I would enjoy watching that, “Jane the Fish” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Scarlet Lady: A raft would be nice on a river, but for the bay or an ocean I like da 'yak.

Oh, my sweet gods. Oh, my Mumpers.
I’ve showered, washed my hair, and put clean sheets on the bed.
Because [ reasons ] I could not accomplish any of those lovely things, nor keep up with MMPs or my zombie game (my favorite decompression) for over a month. Close to two months, if I’m being honest.

Might feel up to slappin’ those fluttery eyelashes again, tomorrow morning, after a long time of being … well, not feelin’ up to it.

Hoping to get Gentleman Caller to come over & help me celebrate feeling human again, whenever he might be able.

Good point. I’m going to need a bigger cane!

Did you guys get your flu shots? Cause I’ve been reading that AZ is having a weird late flu season and that folks should get a flu shot even though it’s so late in the year.

Oh, that sounds bad. I get whiny when the water is out for a couple of hours, I can’t imagine how bad it would be taking sink baths for almost two months. Much sympathy! I hope you get laid soon, you deserve it!!!

DH did, I have a history of problems with them so I typically don’t.

Could you tell me more about mead please? I’m curious, but have never tried it.

I hear you about that. It’s no fun at all and downright scary at times.

Mead is a honey based wine, distilled mead is brandy. Hubs makes mine with citrus and some mulling spices because I like sweet fruity drinks. He also makes a very dry mead that my red wine drinking mother really enjoys. Many liquor stores have mead nowadays but the clerks don’t usually know much about it. If you can’t find any locally, I could send you a bottle. (It won’t be legal, but no reward comes with out risk.) I’m not a big wine drinker but I do enjoy mead enough that my Brewmaster husband has it in the fermentation rotation. (I’m pretty proud, three glass in me and I’m speeling better than I do sober.)

Good mead isn’t honey sweet, but you do get a hint of the honey flavor. Dry mead doesn’t have the tannin burn that I find unpleasant.

And he brought the crud home to you. So much for that theory, LOL! I hope you both start feeling better soonist.

Mead sounds interesting… I may drop you a PM

Saw the ENT Dr. Today. I was reading the allergy results wrong and according to him I am only allergic to peas. I do have severe sinus disease and he wants to do surgery…I don’t know how I feel about that. I’ve had sinus surgery twice and here we are. He will not sign off on the dental implants though so who knows.

** Nellie** I am also horrible sad about the shooting of little kids. I sat and cried watching the nightly news tonight. The reporter was crying too.

Glad you found Lola Rebo. My cat went missing the other day even though I knew she was inside. I looked everywhere including stupid places (behind the couch). No cat. I assumed she ran out when I went out. I called her and looked everywhere. She was sleeping in my closet the whole time. I had looked in there before…

I used a hoe and made me a plot of raw dirt and planted some sunflower seeds today. I also sowed some mint and chives. My other herbs are peeking out. I have spinach that hasn’t done anything yet. I found a great nursery and bought a lot of different ornamental grasses. My front yard flower beds are nearly full. We found some hornworms eating on the tomatoes. I bought a spray bottle of Neem oil to get rid of them. So far they haven’t come back. The ones we found are dead but others have not come back yet.

I hope everyone is safe and well.

Evening all. Did manage to get to the gym and pedaled for an hour (and about 450 calories) and moved a few weights around, of course then came home and ate a Cheeseburger, so we’ll call it a draw…

Rain seems to have gone away but still a lot cooler (currently 65F heading for a low of 50) so sleepage should be good.

Butters, sounds like it’s going to be a nice flowering lawn–pictures when they come into bloom.

JtC, interesting info on Mead. Have heard about it, never drank it to the best of my knowledge. Enjoy.

shoe, glad you have water and can spend a little time with us. Maybe spending some time with Gentleman Caller will improve things too. (wink wink, nudge nudge…)

OK, need to watch the end of the basketball game and then think about bedtime. All y’all take care.

That’s for 0300 Saturdays at the Waffle House.

Hateradetini:
2 ounces bottom shelf vodka from a plastic gallon jug
1 ounce bad dry vermouth
1 spoonfull Lemon Lime Gatorade powder.
Mix, drink, and ponder why you hate life.

So he’ll come over, and feel a human.

Glad Lola came back, Rebo.

I think it’s odd that mead isn’t more commonly known because mead making predated beer or wine. It isn’t a complicated process, doesn’t involve heat to prepare and doesn’t need much climate control during the fermentation process.

Beer, wine and cheese are much MUCH more demanding. Maybe that’s why, hipsters have always lived amongst us…perhaps our great grandfolks thought mead was low class and demanded beer.

The problem for me, mead is too easy to drink, it goes down so easily that I forget that it’s got a serious kick. Thankfully, it’s pure enough that I’ve not gotten a hangover even after four glasses. As long as I’m willing to risk breaking a few laws shipping the stuff, might as well be hung for a sheep as for a lamb. PM your address too!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Sounds like my type of mead.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 87 and partly N.O.S. for the day. I have a “wellness checkup” appointment at eight-thirty this mornin’. Apparently, this a thing one must do when one reaches geezerhood, at least accordin’ to my PCP, so do it I shall. I did this last year and thought it was kinda a waste of time, but it didn’t kill me, so there’s that. Other than that sloth and general uselessness shall rule the day. We have decided to do the geezer special thing at the hog trough Golden Corral this afternoon.

I like mead. I like to pretend I am a medieval Lord out amongst the peasantry whilst drinkin’.

shoe I gather things are settlin’ down a bit. Good to know. Slap on those eyelashes and flutter 'em at Gentleman Caller.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, since I must needs be out and about amongst the great unwashed, I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate attire. Woe!

Happy Firday Y’all!
