Chillin' in the MMP

I got out of bed and turned on the TV (KING5, not KIRO7) and saw this very local news.

Morning all. Stayed in the sack until 8:30am, so nicely rested. Not much on the agenda outside of a trip to the gym a bit later. Did a little house cleaning yesterday and may be motivated to do a little more today…we shall see. 50-50 chance for rain today.and only getting to 75F so the AC should have a break.

Rebo, glad Lola is back safe and sound.

JtC (I like that abbreviation), George is lucky to have such understanding humans around.

{{nellie}}

OK, time to break my fast. All y’all take care.

Woke up having to pee at 45 minutes before my work alarm, which is always highly annoying. But then I remembered what day it was (Thursday, which is my Saturday), and went back to sleep for another blissful hour and a half. Felt good.

According to my FitBit, I’ve been getting great sleep lately. It gives me a nightly score, and I’m usually in the low to mid 80s, which is considered “good.” For the past six nights I’ve gotten 90-plus, “excellent.” I don’t know what’s changed.

The house saga rundown:

  • 2011: Move to Missouri with Hubby’s lab; we kept house in Oregon and rented it out
  • 2013: Hubby got job offer in Bay Area; we moved
  • 2016: I went on disability; decided to move back to Oregon, more affordable, nicer place to live, etc
  • 2018: We moved back to Bay Area. Elderly parents, better school for Beamer. There weren’t any good options for him without moving somewhere else. We still have the house in Oregon. It is rented out.
  • We moved again almost immediately. The first house we moved into was a 2 story. Beamette and I both have balance problems, and after a few falls we decided it wasn’t working out.
  • 2022: We’re moving to a larger house that is still in the same neighborhood with my folks. We’ll rent this one out.

Assuming this works out, this puts us at 3 houses, with 2 rented out. We’re hoping to supplement our retirements between the value of the houses and the rental incomes. We will almost certainly move one more time to somewhere cooler and wetter, like back to the Pacific Northwest. After that, I want to stay put for a long time. I am so done with moving.

That is so scary! I’m so glad you found her! They make tracking tags you can add to her collar, just in case she’s an escape artist.

Not much to report here.

Take care everyone. Happy Thursday!

Dammit. Our VISA has been compromised - someone just bought a gift card for $205.95 and thank goodness it immediately showed up on my text alert. I called VISA to cancel the card and arranged for expedited replacement (for $25!!!) since we use the card for every freekin’ thing! Then I went thru my list of what gets paid on VISA and only Sirius had to be changed (it’s due tomorrow) till I get the new card, then they all get changed.

I’m pretty sure the number was stolen when driving the inlaws all over the place. Dammit. At least it didn’t happen before I had to pay for my car. THAT would have sucked!

On the more entertaining side (for certain values of entertainment) Tobias seems to think it’s hilarious to blow raspberries when he has a mouthful of green beans and cereal. What a MESS!!

I ran the dishwasher, but nothing else domestic has been accomplished today. The kid has been more cranky than happy. Another 90 minutes and I can return him to his mother!!

I need a drink.

You deserve a drink, after the Visa card aggravation! Here yah go :tumbler_glass::wine_glass::tropical_drink::cocktail_glass::mate:. Pick your favorite.

Can Visa tell where the card was used to attempt to purchase the gift card? At least you might have an idea of where in all your travels your number was stolen. Of course I’m sure the stolen numbers get sold all over hell and gone within minutes of being stolen.

Noon here hanging out in the doctor’s waiting room for my turn to be seen. Have avoided all symptom-masking meds today and body is not happy. But want doc to see the unvarnished reality.

Took car in for service this morning, now driving a loaner. Post the doc I should meet a pal for “executive lunch”. IOW a couple martinis and a nice meal. Martinis may not improve your cold, but it sure improves your attitude towards your cold. Good to be not working again.

An Unexpected Package
I get home, and there’s a box on my doorstep. As I get closer, I see it’s a Sam’s Club package. “Oh bother”, I think, “I got to drop this off at the right apartment before I walk Gordie.” I look at the label, and it’s addressed to me. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: It’s not ticking, smoking, or sounding like it’s full of LIVE BEES, so I take it inside.and open it. it’s the jumbo sized jug of Gatorade powder I ordered. From Da Jungle. So now we know :open_mouth: Wally Word :open_mouth: has an Amazon store front.

: mixes up a pitcher of martinis :

I didn’t know you could make martinis using gatorade powder. Wow!

It was an online gift card purchase from a website that sells all sorts of gift cards. Hard to know if it was stolen between here and Indiana or here and Florida. But every time it’s happened, it was right after we went to Florida. I’m going to get a low-balance card just for road trips, since we use our VISA to pay a bunch of bills as well as for local purchases.

Toasted Almond is my beverage of preference, thanks… I was going to make one the other day, but the inlaws used up all the half-n-half. Methinks I’ll stop at Food Lion after dropping off the little drool machine.

Well, figured out the mystery USPS package. It was an Amazon purchase (Terry Pratchett’s The Unadulterated Cat. Should be entertaining. Haven’t gotten into Discworld (yet), but enjoyed Good Omens (and thought the miniseries did a good job of adapting the book).

Sinus infections aren’t contagious that I know of, so HOW did I get DH’s? His sup was having similar symptoms about a week ago too.

I have resolved my power/internet/hot water issues, and am looking forward to a long shower and a lengthy session of scrolling da intertubez. So I will catch up more with y’all later.

… possibly after a nap.

Oh, boy, then you don’t wanna know about “trash can punch” popular among the college crowd. Gatorade powder woulda been a fancy addition!

My DH once undertook to make Gatorade gelatin. He said it worked, I didn’t sample it.

I’ve drunk at least a trashcan’s-worth of trash can punch in my day thankyouverymuch. You’re right, Gatorade probably would have improved the average experience. On the way down and also on the (occasional) way back up

Happy Thorsday!

It was a bit chilly, 59 degrees, at the park this morning. It wasn’t too awful for me as I had worn a jacket. Barky came late, so I got to sit with Lucy’s dad for a while. He left when Barky got there.
Echo got into it with Sadie, but that’s because Lucy’s dad had treats and Echo is a greedy bitch.
Chuckie the pittie came in with us today. He usually goes on the small dog side, but tried out being with other dogs and he did pretty well. He’s not neutered though, so Barky had some issues with him. She was a breeder dog at a puppy mill before being rescued and she doesn’t like when males come up behind her.
Then a new dog, just passing through I think, came in. Pretty nice German Shorthaired Pointer. I had to ask what it was because he looked so much like a lab. He was almost solid chocolate, just some white on his chest. He had a great time after Nelson showed up.

So, how Nelson got his name, Nelson is part Shar Pei, you can see it in his face. When he was a pup, his face was very wrinkled. His owners let their little boy name him, and their son said that the wrinkles made him look like an old man, and Nelson is an old man’s name.

I don’t know what is up with Ripple lately.
He has been very clingy, which is not like him at all. Even at the park this morning he spent a good bit of time sitting between my legs, and when he wasn’t clinging to me, he was clinging to Barky mom. He’s been sleeping by the front door, which is not his normal spot.
He’s gotten very picky with treats. He turned up his nose at pizza. He will come to me and I know he wants a treat, but when I pull one out, he will turn his head and say, no, I don’t want that one. So, I’ll put it back and pull out another until I find the kind he wants. I guess that is not so much weird as it is spoiled.
I almost left him home yesterday when I took my son to irk. He didn’t want to go, which is very weird for him. My two live to go bye-byes.
He’ll be 5 soon, so maybe just growing up a little bit more.

Doggio, I get pissed when I order from da jungle and get a delivery from wally world. I detest wally world and have been boycotting it for years.

My Halo tells me my sleep score is in the 40s. I fall asleep quickly, but it seems I don’t sleep too well.
I know my knee causes a lot of problems, it hurts and wakes me up, and also makes it hard for me to roll over.

I’m glad you got Lola back safe and sound Rebo. Having a dog get loose is scary.

If I had a magic wand that irks, I would wave it and make every credit card scammer and thief, hmmm, not drop dead, but maybe feel like a hot poker was going up their butt.

I have to finish laundry today. I have to get my son to empty the lint trap to the dryer first. I can get it out to clean it, but I can never get it back in right. My arm is not quite long enough. I think it may finally be safe enough to wash my hats, coat, and gloves. Last time I did that, it got cold again.
It’s supposed to be getting back up into the 90s. Mother Nature needs to put down the crack pipe.

Back when I was a dumb kid (now I’m a dumb old guy), I’d sometimes open a big bottle o’ Gatorade, take a giant swig, and then top it back off with vodka.
Ah, the non-discerning days of youth.

The poor man’s martini!

For some value of “martini”, you can make them out of anything. I don’t miss college.

shoe! Glad to see you. Sleep, eat, come back and tell us what’s been happening! We miss youuuuuuuu.

Hubby is fine with the house again. This is good, since we’ve written a fair number of checks at this point. I didn’t even have to go rescue another dog. Although I want to.

Got dressed to go to the gym and do a little shopping, and the rains decided to start and look to stick around until 3pm or so (it’s 1:15pm as I type this). So gym may be post-dinner and I guess I’ll be hanging around home for awhile. (Fairly serious rain out there, not just dripping).

FCM, you got me to check my Credit cards today, they are ok, one of them still has a $75 deposit from a hotel I stay at, if it’s still there in a couple days I will call and ask about it.

Sari the Impaler… :astonished:

Sunny, hope this house works out best for you. Haven’t moved since 2003 and have owned this house since 1997 (spent 4 years working overseas and renting the house out).

OK, need to find something to do…like cleaning the range…maybe. Take care all.

I’m pretty sure @purplehorseshoe isn’t the only one in here who’ll enjoy this collection of adorable ratties.
