Chillin' in the MMP

Mowage achieved, I even broke out the weed wacker and did the fence line. It’s soooo much easier now that I’ve got a battery operated one. Hated the gas-powered one.

You talkin’ to me? Don’t worry about it, I’m just glad to hear Bailey is doing better. And please keep us updated.

On a related note, it seems the next door neighbors have gotten a new puppy who really doesn’t like to be left alone.

Same here. We quit early since being bent over in the boat was killing FCD. He drove John Deere around and I did the push mowing and the weed whacking - just the back yard, but that was enough, so sayeth I!!

Time to chill and read, because why not? We’ll go back to the boat tomorrow and finish pulling the last 2 small sections of hose, and we’re taking the shop vac for general cleaning. But that’s tomorrow. Today is chillage.

Good morning, everyone! I’m taking it easy today. I’ve been walking 6-7 miles a day, and my feet and hands have been killing me. I think it’s the lupus arthritis, but it could be the circulation issues (also lupus) or both or neither, so I’m going to try sheer sloth and seeing if that helps any.

It occurs to me that when I miss posting, there’s so much to catch up on, I miss replying to some posts I really wanted to respond to, like Jane the Cane’s waterbed saga (so funny and brought back memories) and Oopsie’s Bailey reports (fingers still crossed).

swampy, glad you get to sit next to your honey in church for a change. And you make your baked beans from scratch? I’m impressed!

MetalMouse, I believe “the wives” are another couple.

FCM, oh, the Lego days! So much fun! My son and his buddies used to spend entire afternoons building with those. And he married a Lego gal. I I tried to get my daughter interested, but she preferred to torture our bare feet with Barbie shoes. I see engineer potential in the Roxstar.

Taters, it took me a sec to parse out that your SIL wasn’t smoking something herbaceous while barbecuing chicken. It sounds yummy, and how nice that your kids also do the clean-up.

WetOne, I still dream I’m teaching. Usually I’m late for class and can’t find my way through the building’s suddenly Byzantine corridors. Isn’t it a nice feeling to wake up and realize you’re free?

This really resonates with me. Thanks.

So I replaced the tire on the wheelbarrow yesterday. It’s silver and has five spokes. The wheelbarrow looks quite sporty now. Maybe I should give it a flame job?

One wheel on the hand truck needs filling every time I want to use it. I’ve taken the wheel off. It’s a split-hub/rim so it was easy to get the inner tube out. I’ve patched the hole, and I can put it back together in an hour or so.

When I called the animal hospital at a little after 1pm, the tech didn’t know anything. He wasn’t even sure when/whether Bailey could be discharged; he said he had to ask the doctor whether she could be switched from IV meds to oral meds, and would call me. Almost 3 hours later, I got impatient and called again: I can pick her up at 5pm! They apologized for getting busy and not calling. I’ll leave here in about 30 minutes. I’m gettin’ my doggy back!

Give her an extra cuddle from me :hugs:

Of course! You should also make “Vroom, vrooooom” sounds while pushing it.

YAAAYY! I’m imagining the mutual joy, and it’s got me smiling. Happy scritching!

@Misnomer I agree with @Drsunflower1, please give Bailey an extra hug from me.

My new wallet is here and loaded up. Bigger than its predecessor, which IMO is good. I could even fit the checkbook in there (not that I use it much these days, but still good to know its whereabouts) and a pen. I loaded up more cards than the previous wallet could have thought about and still have extra slots! (This is the first one I’ve had with adequate card slots for my needs.) Some reviewers report putting their phones in this model, but I think my case is too bulky, and stuffing my phone in my wallet strikes me as less than convenient. Very nice shade of blue, very easy to find in a black purse.

Hurray! I hope she is much improved.

It has been horrible windy out this way. So much so that I don’t want to be outside which is a shame because it’s also under a hundred and I have stuffs that needs doing.

Back to the bed, our current bed is really the easiest bed I’ve ever owned. Draining the water wouldn’t have been nearly as much of a saga if hubs had just killed monsters and left me to just do it and call him to check the result (it was his side of the bed after all) before buttoning things up again.

As a general rule we have “our” chores and responsibilities and we let each other do things their own way. This usually works very nicely for us except for sometimes when the Venn Diagram of my chores and his gadgets intersect.

One of the rules that has long worked for us is that if we are going somewhere and I am giving directions and get us lost, it’s HIS fault because he KNOWS better. (I go by landmarks and muscle memory, hubs uses silly things like street names and cardinal directions.)

Nellie, I hope you are feeling better today. I don’t have lupus but I do have some arthritis in my hands and my thumbs have really been giving me grief lately. I’m trying to ignore it as well, but I’m having problems holding needles which is ticking me off something fierce.

I feed the birds and several sunflowers have started growing in one of my flower beds. I’m thinking I’ll be getting flowers in a couple of days, too bad they can’t be seen from the street.

Our wheelbarrow has both pinstripes and flames. If you know someone in the auto repair business, ask them for some left over tape and go to town!

Afternoon all. Combine a lot of food at Red Robin (yum!) with a 22oz beer and a 2-hour nap will result–at least for me. Appears I’m missing a nice day (84F), but will manage.

Seanette, nice to have a wallet with enough space in it.

Oopsie, glad Bailey is coming home to your loving arms,

Taters, hope you spent the day recovering from the kids/grandkids visit; take a lesson from Polar…

OK, need to get some caffeine in my bloodstream so I’m not tempted to lay down again. All ya;ll take care.

I’ve decided to make aspara nikumaki for dinner tonight, with sesame dressing for the dipping sauce and salad. I can’t get the proper meat, so I get the thinnest slices I can find and pound them out. Also, I’ll cheat and marinate the beef in teriyaki sauce instead of making the marinade from scratch. We always have Spring mix for the salad, but since this was unplanned I’d have to go to the store. I’ll just cut up some of the Romaine lettuce we have in the fridge. It’s what they use in restaurants anyway. We have about half of a condiment bottle of the dressing that I made last time, and that should be enough.

Moooooom, RoxStar should have a ball with the Legos. I’ve relegated mine to the rolly cart for the heathen children, but still get them out to play with them myself once in a while.

oopsie, glad Bailey’s home and feeling better. As far as your nephew and the Legos go, I still buy them as gifts for my 22 year old great nephew and my almost 40 year old nephew. You’re never too old to play with them.

Sunday chores complete, a delicious pot of white beans with ham and some outstanding stir fried kale with sweet potato cubes (had a couple of small ones that needed to be used), oyster mushrooms (part of the bounty from yesterday), lemongrass (from the market yesterday too), sesame oil and finished with rice wine vinegar and sesame seeds. Kind of a hillbilly / Asian fusion. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have to irk tomorrow, although it wouldn’t surprise me if they sent us home early. Oy!

I’m doing sloth. Spent the afternoon on the back porch, listening to the Sox beat up on the orioles and reading a book.

Interesting development since no dog around. I currently have 3 bunnies and about 6 birds wandering around the yard.

Eta. I probably should get out of the sun.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, et sammiches, had quality cee-mint pond time (had a little snooze whilst upon my float), et more sammiches, and are now in chill mode. No biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can down to the road because tomorrow is a holiday in the U.S.of A. That will get done tomorrow evenin’. Oh and I have stuff prepped for tomorrow’s soiree out by the cee-mint pond.

MetalMouse “the wives” are a lesbian couple. It stems from a runnin’ joke about the four of us (OYKW, them and myself) bein’ at a restaurant and ponderin’ if we look like two husband and wife couples goin’ out to dinner. Since then they refer to us as “the husbands” and we refer to them as “the wives.” It amuses us.

FTR, I like some frozen pizzas. Let the clutchin’ of pearls commence!

Nellie if from scratch means I doctor up canned baked beans, then, by all means, they are from scratch. However, I consider a thing to be from scratch if I have to use the stovetop, oven, or some combo thereof.

FlyBoy you should definitely put flame decals on the wheelbarrow. You’d have the coolest wheelbarrow in da 'hood!

Oopsie yay for gettin’ Bailey back home! Since we are in the same time zone this may have already happened. I know she will be so glad to be back home with her mamma!

Yay! Please give her extra skritches from me!!

I cleaned, changed the litterbox, swept the sidewalk and porch(I suck at sloth). Got meatloaf in the oven, and I’ll start the mashed potaotes in a bit. Drinking an Old Fashioned.

YAY! :dog2:
: skritches :

When I had Maggie Wonderbeagle, the bunnies would come up to the apartment steps and taunt her.

Also, add nitrous.

Taken shortly after we got home:

I have since removed the bandage.

They told me everything would be ready for her to go at 5pm, but we didn’t walk out until after 6pm. Partly because I had a bunch of questions about her meds (she’ll be on a few for the next several days), but partly because they were slammed today: while I was waiting, I heard them tell someone on the phone that they were at capacity and couldn’t take any emergencies (!).

I gave her a little bit of canned chicken when we got home, and so far so good (it’s been over two hours). She seemed hungry and I’m sure she would have eaten more, but I didn’t want to give her too much too soon. I also knew that she’d forget about food and fall asleep pretty quickly. I’ll give her some more chicken in a little while. They recommend feeding her frequent, small meals for the first day, until everything has stayed down for a while, then I can go back to her regular schedule — but she’ll stay on bland food for 4-5 days.

I have no idea what might have caused this episode. The tech didn’t know, and the doc wasn’t available. The tech said her medical record was still being finalized, but that I’d be sent a copy when it was done and it might have more info. I do know now that what’s going on with her back legs isn’t just age-related muscle weakness: there is some of that, but the xray also showed some bursitis in her hips. So, in another week or so — once she’s off these meds and back on her usual food and everything’s fine — I’ll be talking to my regular vet about what options there might be for her in terms of pain relief.

My one-track posting will end now. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes!!

Awwww! Who’s the pretty girl?

She looks pretty alert, I’m glad she’s home where she belongs.

That made me very happy.
