I must say that I am thoroughly ashamed of the behavior of these “visitors” who blaspheme my Lord by invoking His holy name for their own purpose. It is painfully obvious that nothing I say will cause them to denounce their arrogance and humble themselves before God.
So instead I just want to appeal to the regular posters here: please understand that I find nothing Christlike whatsoever in their boorishness, and please do not identify these people with people like Poly, Tris, and me. Jesus was humble; they are swelled with a foolish pride.

Don’t worry about it, Lib. One of the things for which I’m most grateful to this Board is that I re-learned that not all Christians believed in an evil God. You and the others were a big part of that. I’m not going to unlearn it because of these mopes. I trust that to be true of others, too.
I give them the half-life of SaDkOrNyGuy, or whatever his name was. Then they’ll return to their hateful shell to reassure themselves that with sufficient begging God will spare them from the evil fate He has in store for the other 90% of his children.

As an atheist who did not have too much respect for Christianity, you all have helped me to see Christians in a new light. Had my enlightement been left up to the fundies, I would have no doubt ended up thinking all Christians were ignorant, rabid, hate spewing hypocrites. It’s funny how you, who they probably don’t think are a proper Chirstian, has done more to honor Christ than they have. Warped.

I say give them a break. I personally am agnostic, but I can understand their point of view. Think of it thus:
A good friend of yours is playing in the street. You yell at them to get out, but they don’t. They also tell you to stop bothering them. Do you:
A) Go away and stop bothering them
B) Tell them to get the heck out of the street before they get hit by a car
If it were MY friend, I’d say B. Now, substitute "being about to go to hll" for “playing in the street”. No matter how much you protest, if they care about you, they’re going to try and convince you to do what’s best. They are, IMHO, doing right. The only good solution is to try and explain to them that heaven and hll don’t exist and that they’re holding on to some archaic concept from the middle ages.
And if that actually works, then be very, very, afraid.

Do not worry. Whatever disagreements we may have had I in no way associate you with the kind of behavior these individuals have exhibited.
Although it does point out the downside of any self-identification with a group. If it helps, I have on more than one occassion been embarrassed by the garbage spewed upon the world in the name of atheism.

I would sponsor publishing and dissemintaing the Book of Lib to all fundies, but I fear the common-sense knowledge contained in it would bounce off their anti-thought forcefields.
This fundie-flood is not as bad as I feared when I heard the threats; it’s actually pretty darn funny. Some of the responses have been priceless.
