I can’t stand her in the first place… and she’s fucking EVERYWHERE right now.
Reasons I dislike her:
She looks like an idiot in the sexy clothes she tries to wear. Like a nine-year-old wearing stuff from Mommy’s slinky drawer. She is NOT SEXY! Yuck!
Her “Beautiful” song is a crock of shit. Everyone in it (except her) is physically repulsive. So they’re beautiful despite the fact that they’re fugly? Isn’t that exactly contrary to the point of the song you insipid, whorish skank?
The “Dirty” video sucks ass. She cannot dance, but she does hump large muscular men like a salivating, rabid poodle.
Unlike everyone else I’ve seen on a “We’re following a celebrity around” show, hers did not endear her to me. I found her vapid, brainless and self-absorbed.
She thinks she’s “street” and actually uses this term to describe herself. She talks with an I-don’t-give-a-shit tone of voice that is COMPLETELY affected. Give me a fucking break you idiotic, vulgar, pretentious BITCH!
Actually that is exactly the point of the song. True beauty comes from being yourself and confident. All the people in the video have an “issue” of some sort that they overcome to become beautiful. And furthermore, how can you diss a video that has two guys kissing - with visible tongue, no less?
I’m not a Christina Aguilera fan by any stretch of the imagination but I find Beautiful to be a pleasant sounding pop song. I also find her to be attractive with the exception of the Dirty video in which she looks to be in desperate need of a shower.
In addition Ms. Aguilera has yet to hit the saturation point that the omnipresent Jennifer Lopez seems to have achieved.
She’s anything but pretty. She used to be hot, like when she sang that song from Mulan.
But she’s so contrived. She’s adopted every stupid trend that’s come along in the past 3 years. Her songs blow, her image blows, however her voice does NOT blow, only the way she uses it.
Those vocal rolls (thanklessly started and exploited by Mariah Carey, annoyingly perfected by Celine Dion) are the most blood curdling thing to listen to…Every 2nd bimbo on American Idol uses them and they SUCK.
What were we talking about? Oh yeah. Christina. I saw her on the cover of People this week. She’s adopted a Pure/Skanky look now…the rugby shirt with the belly ring…SIGH…
in Her “beautiful” video, people were shown doing the most self destructive things…but it’s ok, because beauty comes from the inside. Oh and of course, the random boy on boy kissing.
I think the concept behind the song is fine-- If someone else sang it. If she could just get over her pretention and realize SHE’S A POP SINGER, I’d be more ok with her. No act, no trying to be what you aren’t…just pop.
Poor Christina and Mariah, when you guys need a hug I’m here for you. I don’t know why people are so mean. Hate the game, not the player, or something.
>Her “Beautiful” song is a crock of shit. Everyone in it (except her) is physically repulsive. So they’re beautiful despite the fact that they’re fugly?<
My thoughts exactly.
>two guys kissing - with visible tongue, no less?<
You’re trying to eat, then something like THAT comes on…
Has she done a Pepsi commercial? I haven’t seen one, but I don’t see a lot of television since I haven’t got a TV at school. You may be thinking of the commercial with Shakira (who I’d never even heard of before she started hawking soda, but has apparently long been famous in Latin America).
Wait a second. IIRC, the only person in that video doing something self-destructive is the eating disorder chick. Yeah, she’s pretty icky and not a good example for teenage girls. But other than that, unless my memory fails me… there’s a scrawny kid lifting weights and doing muscle-man poses, a male transvestite (I’m not sure what the preferred term is… sorry if that’s a bad word for it) getting dressed and putting on makeup, a kid getting beat up by a couple of other kids, and the gay couple. Was there an overweight kid in there somewhere? Maybe some other person, I don’t exactly recall. But how are these people doing anything self-destructive? I think the point of the video, and the song, is that if you have confidence and believe in yourself, then you’re beautiful, and other people’s opinions ain’t worth jack squat if you’re happy with yourself. Which is a very good message.
I am not exactly Miss Aguilera’s biggest fan, for a variety of reasons, but I really like that song, and I think the video (with the exception of the anorexic girl) is a good show of acceptance and celebrating other people’s lifestyles (thinking specifically of the transvestite and the gay couple), and having self-confidence.
On another note I’m pretty sure Pepsi’s only blonde booty-shaking spokeschicks at the moment are Britney Spears and Shakira (who was so much cooler when she sang in Spanish and didn’t bleach her hair). Wasn’t Christina hawking Coke or something?
Amen to that. I posted just a moment ago in “Cafe Society” about how I love the “Beautiful” video and the song.
I don’t pay attention to pop culture, so this was the first video of hers I have ever seen. I was very surprised that such a video would be made by a popular pop star here in America.
I thought all those people in the video were beautiful.
