While Aguilera and Spears started out around the same time, I always thought that the best comparison to Aguilera was actually Madonna. Both singers may have done some outrageous things but they were consciously choosing to do them - they were controlling their own public image. And both of them have repeatedly changed their public image which gives them the ability to walk away from anything that isn’t working.
Spears, on the other hand, I see as someone like Marilyn Monroe or Anna Nichole Smith - she’s being overwhelmed by her public image and is no longer in control of it (if she ever was).
Cristina was in some pop cover of lady marmalade with a bunch of other female pop singers, now I hate the genre as a rule but when that came on I sat up and listened, then I wished all the other girls would shut the fuck up.
Christina can sing her ass off, 99% of female pop stars (as was posted up thread) couldnt even sing mary had a little lamb without production.

Yes, that is sort of what it looks like to me.
I often have heard the comment that Christina did things the normal way – first you’re a playful teenie, then you go through a Girl Gone Wild phase from 18 to 21, then you get on with having a life and settling down.
And similarly, when it comes to public exhibitionism, posing for professional nude photo shoots that get published in magazines vastly outclasses going around in minis with no panties getting in and out of cars straddle-legged.

My theory is that watching Christina *looking like a million bucks * while knocking a *James Brown * cover out of the park on *THE GRAMMYS * is what pushed Brittney over the edge. I think her head shaving flip-out was shortly after.
I can’t name or hum a single Christina Aguilerra tune, and that is all the observation I need for pop stars. Add in batshit crazy and I’m a fan.
I still think Britney Spears is sexy and I would still sleep with her. Actually I prefer the way she looks now to how she looked when she was younger.
