Christmas Baking in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 55 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 79 and partly N.O.S. for the day. No biggie plans today. I think I shall neaten up the closet in the master bedroom as it has gotten somewhat unruly again. That would count for major productivity. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy.

Sunny hope you heal soonest and are able to figure out how to consume a beerverage whilst flat on your back.

Butters again appropriate/inapporpriate appendages crossed re the ankle and it not bein’ broken.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

You last longer than I do - I don’t even answer if I don’t recognize the number. Caller ID ROCKS!!! So if you ever decide you need to call me, make sure I have your info so I can add you to my contact list. That goes for the rest of you, too!

Are you going to keep that going or sell it also? Yeah, I’m nosy…

Till we have our boat here near us, FCD gets vicarious jollies looking at other folks’ boats on a couple of FB groups we’ve joined. The one he was looking at this morning was something else. To give you an idea, the guy owns a big house on a large lot in Kennebunkport, ME. The yacht has a hot tub… on the third deck… yeah, it’s a small ship. There was a photo of it hauled out to be shrink-wrapped for the winter - it was surrounded by scaffolding and that’s where the wrapping was applied. It looked like a building when it was done! He’s gone back to bed, and I don’t know where exactly he found the pics or I’d link to them… But holy crap on a cracker!!!

Today, I’ve got to deposit a check in the credit union and stand by for the QA guy from our HVAC company to come by. Assuming he shows up this morning, I’ll meet FCD at the gym after his meeting this afternoon. But they don’t give specific appointment times - just a call an hour before they expect to arrive. I understand that service calls can run longer than expected and it’s not like I have a full schedule, but it is a bit annoying not to know if it’ll be morning or afternoon at least. meh - first world problems.

I’m also going to make a big pot of chili for FCD. I can’t stand the stuff, but apparently I make good chili. This will be a double batch, with most of it being frozen in individual servings for easy meals. Other than that, not a lot on my plate today.

Happy Thursday!!

Ugh, ratbag scammers are the worst. My grandpa got scammed multiple times. I’m very glad he never got internet; for a start he lived in Nigeria for several years and had Nigerian friends, and he was one of the people who used to give everyone financial advice… I’m sure that combo couldn’t have gone wrong at all… I hope the scammers get itches in embarrassing places every time they’re in public.

The coat is not returnable, unfortunately; it’s a second-hand one. I’m somewhat, well, top heavy, so most clothes don’t fit well, but there’s one specialist company who have supplied most of my smart/party clothes for years. Unfortunately they’ve just decided to drop the clothing line, so I’m trying to stock up a bit while stuff’s still available. It’s being very frustrating- I’ve bought a few things, all from private sellers so I can’t return them if they don’t fit, because that’s about £10 a pop rather than £50+ new, and half still have tags anyway. About 50% fit perfectly, the rest- all labelled as exactly the same size- are waaaay smaller. I now have a selection of lovely dresses and now a coat which I either can barely squeeze into or couldn’t fit into with a crowbar. I should try and resell them- with a disclaimer about the size being smaller than the label indicates, to avoid this going on for another round- but I haven’t got round to it yet.

Where does all this snot come from?!
That is all.

Good morning everyone.

I’m glad the house spiffing up continues apace, Butters. I hope everything continues to fall in place and that you find the home you both need and want.

G-damn scammers! I’m so sick of that stuff. I’m sorry they got to your in-laws, FCM! I hope they are spitted on a rusty piece of rebar and roast eternally in hell. My spam shield blocks most of those calls, but sometimes unfortunately blocks real calls. It’s a double-edged sword.

As I forecasted yesterday, my day was stupid busy. Today will more of the same, but at least it’s my last workday until after Christmas.

I did see a little bit of chunky rain yesterday, but no actual snowflakes. It’s supposed to warm up slightly through the upcoming week, but they are teasing us with the possibility of snow on both Christmas Eve and Christmas. If we actually get any I’ll be surprised because the daytime highs will be in the low forties.

I guess I should finish my coffee and tidy the kitchen. I need to be at my work computer by 6:00 am for a meeting that I have no desire to attend, but I did volunteer, so I brought it on myself.

I hate smoking even though I used to be one. Coming up on my 5th anniversary being a quitter in May. My son smokes on the porch but I can still smell it. He also smokes pot which I can’t stand the smell of either but he can’t smoke that on the porch lest I get busted and apparently he can’t do anything without being stoned. He does really good work but I can’t wait until this job is finished so he can go stink up his own space.

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if I decide not to sell at all once everything is nice and pretty? Even though I signed with a realtor I am under no obligation and it’s not listed yet. But, I am ready to be on a flat ground house due to stairs and have a nice big fenced in yard for Buddy and maybe a friend for him.

As far as the A\C company it can run without me as I don’t do anything anyway. I’ve already had them move 95% of the stuff to a reasonable place for $700 a month (business expense). The guy can run it as long as he wants to as long as I still get my paycheck every two weeks. I have told him I will leave it to him when I die. Should he want to venture out on his own he can but right now he is still operating from the reputation of my husband. He is also still answering hubs phone. Should he want to buy my vehicles, tools and inventory I would give him a hell of a deal. He is so well paid that I don’t know why he would venture out on his own. He will never make what he is making now working for someone else.

Yesterday’s storm was much needed rain and snow. Now to go out and play in it!

Happy Thorsday!

A not so bad 43 degrees at the park this morning. Supposed to get into the 60s today.
Echo’s booboo looks worse than I expected, but still nothing to worry about.

Happy Belated Birthday Unknown

I’m sorry about your aunt Doggio

If it wasn’t for scam calls, I’d have almost no calls. Most everybody I know wants to text instead of talk.
I do think phones should come with a button to push that will send bolts of electricity into the scammer’s ears.

I’m FCM and I endorse this message!

I’ve showered and dressed. There’s a biiiiiig pot of chili simmering on the stove. FCD is going to deposit the check for me, so I don’t need to go to the Credit Union. Higgs is being excessively noisy. Just another day at FairyChatEstates…

I like this idea. Of course, in my own call center experience, I’ve often wished for the ability to administer small electric shocks to callers. Nothing harmful, just “BZZT! Do I now have your attention, and have you managed to get more than about four brain cells firing at the same time?”

Scammers, of course, get extra-high voltage.

Yesterday’s cursing was absolutely alongside each other, and not at each other, thankfully. Don’t worry, ratty - no impending trips to HR.

Hugs to you shoe.

Today is sunny and cold. I wish I could say things are good, but my dad was admitted to hospice yesterday. They’d like him to be able to pass at home, so at least he won’t be in a facility. He can’t walk independently anymore and has trouble sitting up in bed without becoming exhausted. When he’s lucid he’s afraid to sleep because he worries he won’t wake up. But he does look forward to eating, which is good. This sucks so much.

Yeah. I can’t decide what’s worse - sudden and unexpected, or gradual decline. My dad had a massive heart attack, and he was pretty much gone before he hit the floor. My FIL has been deteriorating, but lately it seems to be accelerating, and I almost wish he’d just not wake up one morning. But it does suck, especially knowing there’s absolutely nothing you can do. Hugs to you and yours!

I believe that I need an emotional support honey badger (or wolverine).

I am going to post a query with my online disabled group. There must be something that lets a person drink liquids on their back. At the hospital they gave me a straw and hovered over me. It wasn’t great, but it sorta worked. I just chugged a cup of coffee, which was interesting. I guess I need a sippy cup. :woman_shrugging:

May I ask where this is? It looks like Southern California.

talky I’m sorry about your dad. I know this was expected, but it’s still hard. I’m sorry he’s scared. I hope hospice makes him comfortable and you can feed him his favorite meals. {{{hugs}}}

Day 2 of lying flat is underway. Husband is taking it as a personal challenge to find me a way to drink while flat. I think he’s decided that the cups they use at hospital - the big ones that have the markings to measure water consumption - are the best bet. Go figure - maybe medical folks know what they’re doing.

Pixel has thrown up twice and won’t eat. I’ve left a message for his vet. Hopefully they can switch his medications around again. I think the new regimen is hard on his kidneys. Poor little guy.

Afternoon all. Tried to post here this morning and the system blocked me. Exchanged the car cover I bought last night (actually looked at them and did some shopping) and saved $5.65. But when I got to the storage place, it was closed until 1:30pm, so I assuaged my disappointment with a couple of Krystal burgers (first ones I’ve bought in quiet some time) and am now waiting for the clock to wind. Temperature is 70F outside, you couldn’t ask for a nicer December day.

{{talky}}. My dad lived (if you want to call it living) his last several years in a ‘old folks home’ and it was pretty miserable…for him and for me visiting. (the place was OK, mind you; just the atmosphere of people sitting around waiting to die). I’m hoping I can go fast and quietly when my time comes (in 20 years or so, got things to do…)

Butters, never smoked but my Mom was a regular chimney, so I grew up in a house that smelled constantly of cigarette smoke. Been so nice the past 40 years living pretty much without that smell being present.

OK, need to digest and do some internettin’ before the great car coverage. Y’all take care.

@Buttercup_Smith When do you find out about your ankle? Is some driving you to the dr, or are you driving yourself?

Squeeze bottles, like they have in diners for the ketchup. Easy to fill and clean as well. If you want to get fancy try tattoo wash bottles.

The wash bottles look good.

Those are the bottles all the breweries around here use to rinse down the outside of beer glasses before they give them to you, to rinse off the overflow from the taps.

I ordered a bunch of stuff as well, but new. Unfortunately I bought mostly dresses which are suitable for nice weather, and the weather turned worse immediately after the box arrived. I did get some nice winter tops, which are going with me on holiday. I hope the company changes their strategy in the future, when things get back to normal.

Friend of mine is posting pictures from London and I want to go. Hope things get better - maybe I’ll go in March to celebrate my birthday. Having a third pandemic birthday does not appeal. Going into a shop to try on clothes sounds like something out of a history book.

Nothing too exciting today, just work, grocery shopping, made lunch (sloppy joes) and went for a brisk walk in the just above freezing weather. Could do with some sunshine, but probably won’t see any soon.

{{talky}}

They remind me of the water bottles that they show boxers drinking from in the ring. Like this.

My daughter texted me a photo of the pasta she had for lunch, so her tummy troubles have abated. She later texted me a photo of a cannoli. She said, “Yours are better. This one tastes like it came from a supermarket.” It probably did. This was at a restaurant in Bologna. She visited a cathedral and lit a candle for her gramma, my late mother. I love that kid.

I am still trying to find out WTH is going on with that contact lens. It’s been almost 8 weeks, and it usually takes 2 weeks. Eight days ago, the contact lens folks told me it was arriving that day, and they’d call to confirm. They didn’t. I’ve called twice since then, but nobody answers, so I’ve left VM’s. Once I get it, I have to get it checked a week later before leaving for my sister’s in early January. With the holidays, time is of the essence. What do I have to do to get answers? I’d go there, but it’s $50 round trip in Uber fees OR 90 minutes via bus w/transfers.

Also working on trying to get the monthly shots locally. I finally found a place that’s taking new patients, but they won’t set up an appointment until they get a referral and my records sent by the Seattle doc. Then–sing it with me, boys and girls–they’ll call to schedule an appointment. (Spoiler alert: they won’t. I’ll have to call them, and more than once.)

I seem to have developed the unfortunate tendency to miss stuff in posts. I don’t know why that is but will try to do better at it, so if you said something to me that I didn’t respond to, please don’t think I’m rude, just spacey or something.

Scammers should be called scummers, as they’re scum of the earth. They’ve gotten wilier and wilier. My friend T. got hit for over $100,000. They kept getting her to send more money so they could get her “$400,000 government check available to all U.S. citizens!” and somehow, she fell for it.

wordy, so sorry about your father. It breaks my heart that he’s afraid to go to sleep. I hope he and the rest of you can get some serenity. Not that that makes it much less sucky.

butters, yikes on the ankle. I hope it’s not broken. I also hope it’s not some other injury that takes even longer to heal. Dang it, you’re due smooth sailing for awhile. Fingers are still crossed for the housing situation.

sunny, hope your husband finds a good cup for you. How are you coping emotionally with having to lie in bed?

shoe, we lurves ya around here and would gladly give you happiness transfusions, if only to tether you so you don’t blow away in those winds of confusion and despair.

Big hugs all around.
