Chronos, Why no warning for AK84 in the Black Panther thread?

I get that **monstro’s **warning is valid, “Fuck you” is never OK (in fact, it’s very similar to my own only warning for responding to race-linked taunting) but why was AK84, who you acknowledge was being deliberately provacative, not given a warning too. *Especially *seeing as he was basically going against the spirit of earlier mod instructions (hell, a fucking warning!) to keep politicking out of CS?

But beyond that, I think he should be warned just for the “being a jerk” aspect:

It would be nice if another Africa-related thread doesn’t get crapped on, too, like so many in the past…

Or, if monstro felt that AK84 was being sufficiently provocative monstro could have exercised restraint and hit the report post button and let the mods do their job.

I already acknowledged in the OP that monstro’s warning was valid, so your threadshit is a non sequitur to my actual question, thanks all the same.

Of course she should have. That was stated right in the OP just one post ago. The question wasn’t about her though.

It’s not a threadshit. And you are not qualified to judge it as so. It’s a legitimate answer to your question. People have agency, in theory at least, and should be able to respond to stimuli in appropriate manners. AK84 posts being provocative is pretty subjective. Monstro’s post being against board rules is objective. That’s the difference.

Yes, it is. It in no way answers the actual question.

I’d say I’m uniquely qualified.

No. The way my question is phrased, only one person can *legitimately *answer it, and that person isn’t you.

Never mind that it actually answers a *different *question that nobody outside your head asked.

No, it’s in fact a matter of outright moderator declaration, which is now objective truth.

Short answer? I’d forgotten that it was that same thread that I’d already given a warning for politicking in.

(on moment, please)

There, fixed.

Asked and answered. Thank you. And this thread may be closed, in light of that.

It wasn’t so much a threadshit as just a stupid and irrelevant comment. The OP acknowledged that Monstro made a mistake allowing herself to be provoked and getting a warning when AK84 was actually the one disrupting the thread and deliberately provoking her.

AK84’s comments were far more offensive and disruptive to the thread than Monstro’s 2 word reply. Fortunately Chronos reviewed the situation and evened out the scales of justice.

It has been warned. Yes. But it still was warned under a subjective catch-all clause of jerkishness.

In ATMB, as in GQ, I’d say a first reply that’s stupid and irrelevant *is *a threadshit. Not after 25 posts, but as a first reply?

You say that like it makes a difference. The jerkish *behaviour *was politicking and provocation and ignoring mod instructions. There’s no such thing as just generic jerkishness.

It makes all the difference. Which is why you aren’t qualified to make the judgment if my accurate answer to your question was a threadshit. You are confused about objective and subjective with regards to warnings in these forums. Even Chronos had to rethink his position because the answer wasn’t clear cut. Thus he had to invoke the jerkish catch all clause.

I’m not saying anything about any of the posters. I’m just saying that “provocative” oh noes! and jerkish are almost intrinsically subjective in nature. That is not stupid nor inaccurate and is why you’ll have discussions about why such and such is moderated or not.

It’s also rather jerkish to post an irrelevant response to a question (as your first post was) and then persist in arguing about it when this is pointed out. So knock it off.

Agreed.
