Tonight, Chuck tries to save his dad from the clutches of evil software magnate [del]Emmett Fitz-Hume[/del] Ted Roark. Will he succeed? We’ve seen enough of the show to know that, of course, he will! Exactly how he does it is another matter, and should be interesting enough.
Did we actually see Chuck’s dad other than in flashbacks from last week’s show?
Poor Big Mike. I wonder how the Buy More is going to be run under Emmett.
I loved Big Mike kissing Morgan. The allusion was hamfisted, but it was still great.
Heh - Uncle Bernie. I should have seen that joke coming.
One of the weaker episodes, I thought. In a show that revels in its hamfisted cliches (like Big Mike kissing Morgan full on the lips), there was a marked lack of tension and conflict in the Jill/Sarah dynamic. It seems they were just making time from the last episode to the next episode. At least letting Jill go probably means that we’ll see more of her in the future, which is fine by me.
Yeah, even my daughter asked, “Is that the ‘Kiss of Death?’” But really, what options does Big Mike have? Morgan is practically his son, but he did betray him. Family ties cannot stand in the way if they make you look weak. If he let Morgan live he, and the others, would see it at as sign of weakness. But he cannot have blood directly on his hands; he’s risen too high in the Buy More hierarchy for that. He must find someone who would do it gladly, but has no ambitions of his own.* I am sure Casey would be happy to so it.
Note: Sarah is achingly beautiful but you could cut glass with Jill’s dimples. And brunette with a nose with some character…

- Beyond killing Chuck and nailing that blonde from the other week. Casey, like Jayne, is a simple man with simple needs. Brutal sex and a chance to kill annoying people is all he asks.
Was I right and thinking that Morgan’s speach in the Home Theater room was a homage to “The Princess Bride”? Still love this show, although I heard rumor somewhere that it might not be renewed. This really needs to move to a different network if NBC isn’t going to keep it. It would do great on USA next to Psych or something.
I heard a rumor that CW was interested if NBC wasn’t. I can’t remember where I read that though.
Big Mike kissing Morgan was great! Right out of Godfather II - awesome
It started out being, thats for sure…
If Chuck gets canceled, I’m blaming Jay Leno.
Law & Order? Really? I figured it would still be airing even after the cockroaches took over.
I don’t get the Jay Leno connection exactly. How is he killing five hours of TV slots/shows?
Anyway, I had to check the listings to make sure this wasn’t the season finale as it kind of felt like it. I suppose Chuck & Sarah will somehow find dad and convince the general their insubordination was justified and they should stay a team, but I don’t see how.
I just knew Emmet’s diabolical scheme was even more devious than it seemed. Poor Morgan. Don’t ask Chuck for moral/ethical dilemma advice when he’s on a mission.
Will Casey hunt Sarah & Chuck?
Leno’s show is moving to 10PM - that’s five hours of primetime programming gone.
Casey is so bad ass. I’m surprised he was willing to go through with the tranq’ order. If I recall correctly, last time he got the orders he was having second thoughts.
This episode he seemed to be really annoyed with Chuck. He works off of anger. He did call Chuck a twerp when he asked to take him down.
Did anyone else find it odd that Scott Bakula had a promo advertising his appearance and then didn’t show up?
Maybe he got stuck in a time machine.
Oh boy!
Re: The link about blaming Jay Leno if Chuck gets canceled. Why should it be? Kings, Life, Knight Rider and Kath & Kim are to be canceled and ER is done with it’s run, that’s 4 1/2 hours of programming. That means only a half hour needs to be cut so Earl should be on the chopping block. Are they taking chances on that many new shows that they would toss aside established shows? And for that matter why is Friday Night Lights still on, I thought that shows ratings were in the toilet?
I saw a couple of episodes of “Chuck” while traveling, found it amusing enough, so decided to watch the first couple of seasons on DVD. Unfortunately I have a taping /ratings problem conflict with “The Big Bang Theory” and “House”. Why are all the good shows on Monday night? I hardly record anything the rest of the week.
Back to the point. In the first season, at one point, Morgan’s last name is Baretta. Big Mike makes a point of it after the sales contest, on how he couldn’t really fire him because he is the only hispanic on staff. Then, an episode or so later, his last name is Grimes. The actor’s last name is Gomez, fwiw.
Now, later in the same season, Lester is apparently Jewish. Okay, I screwed up with Netflix and got the fourth disk before the third, so it may have been explained in there somewhere, but it seems kind of out of the blue. I’m not going to watch the rest of the disk, but am I being whooshed? Or do they just sort of play fast and loose with this? The character’s name is Lester Patel, and the actor is Vik Sahay. Do they explain this as the mother is Jewish or something?
Should I watch for other stuff along these lines, or just let them go?
I don’t know what the deal is with Morgan’s name changing, but Lester’s really Jewish. I don’t think it’s been explained how or why, but it was referenced again in this week’s episode in some throwaway line.
