Well, I’m finally back from getting my Fabulous Electrostatic Breasts recharged so that must mean that it’s time to arrange a CinciDope!
As I mentioned in the Cincy Dopers? thread, I know of a great pub where we can all meet. It’s within walking distance from my house, it has Guiness on tap, decent burgers, an outdoor seating area, and for the brave / talented/ drunk they also have Karaoke. I’d like to advise everyone that this is a great blue-collar pub. I would not recommend bringing children. It should also be noted that there is no such thing as a “non-smoking” section at this establishment (although we will hopefully be sitting outdoors so it may not be that big of a problem).
Gundy mentioned that he/she may be able to make it if it is scheduled for late May. I’m not sure what particular weekend is good for Gundy but late May is good for me. Let’s say we tentatively schedule it for either May 25th or June 1st.
I’ll have to check with Mr. tevya but I should be able to accomodate a few people at Chez tevya should anyone need to spend the night. Be forwarned that I have 2 medium sized rambunctious dogs – you will be jumped on, sat upon and licked (by the dogs, not by me).
Oh no! Those dates are just tentative. We can bump it up to May 18th (although I have to go to Columbus on May 19th for my brother’s graduation) or we can delay it until June 8th. Let’s see what the consensus is before we count you out!
I just have bad timing. My trip is from early 24 May until late 15 June. I’ll be in Thailand the first week and in Korea the rest of the time (approximately).
And don’t listen to Gundy… she’s going to be in Columbus.
June 2nd, from Noon to 9:00 at the Miami Whitewater (Park) Harbor, there’s a Celtic Fest going on. Just so’s everyone knows. (It could tie in with the CinciDope.)

Actually, you kids get together whenever you can. If I am in the country I will make it. If not I’ll make the next one. Soon as we start to build a little local comraderie I figure these things might occur more often.
As long as Rue can make it you’ll get people gathered around the campfire to hear his tall tales.
Wow! I’ve never planned a Dopefest before but I suppose I should have known it would be fraught with difficult decisions from the get-go!
If we don’t have it on the weekend of May 24-26th then we exclude Gundy. If we do have it that weekend (and pretty much every other weekend suggested so far) then we exclude Shib. The June 1st/ June 2nd Celtic Fest tie in that Rue mentioned sounds great but it conflicts with the great cooking of the pig that thinksnow brought up! Decisions, decisions…
Maybe we should push it in to late June. That will allow Shib, Rue, and whoever is going to Porkapalooza to attend (it will also give me more time to plan). It will still leave Gundy out, however. <sigh>
Tevya, don’t get too caught up in the who can make it/who can’t thing. I’d be a bit more concerned with May 24-26 as it’s Memorial day weekend, but so far no one but me seems to have vacation/family plans.
Since you’re organizing pick a date that works for you and go with it. Whoever makes it, makes it. If I don’t make this one, then I’ll make the next. Maybe I’ll even send a proxy a la FCM. Alternatively set a minimum number of people that you’d like to have attend (5-10?) and if you can get that many on a given weekend you’ve got your date.
And I really, really, really want to give you back your Cranium. We can have dinner or a beer any week you suggest. Cause I already know how much fun you and Mr. Tevya are!
I will take Shib’s most excellent advice and settle on the weekend of May 31[sup]st[/sup] - June 2[sup]nd[/sup]. I like the idea of doing the Celtic Fest thing, too, as that can accomodate non-drinking, kid wielding Dopers.
However, I refuse to plan this if I can’t get at least 250 Dopers to attend! [sub]Ok. I’ll settle for 10.[/sub]
Hey Tev, if you have the gathering on Friday the 31st, I can’t make it.
If it’s on Saturday the 1st, I’ll more than likely be there (plus I’ll be bringing along the Little Woman).
But the Celtic Festival (even though I was the one who brought it up) is a shakey “maybe”. (See, there’s also this Terrier Trial up in Dayton, and I want to see if they give the little bugger the chair.)
So, for Saturday the 1st we’re up to 4. (Or 2 if you only count Dopers.)
