No, what I am is educated on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I’ve met actual Palestinians and actual Israelis. I’ve met Arab Israelis. I’ve talked to them and listened to their opinions. I’ve been to the West Bank and I’ve been to Jewish settlements there. It infuriates me to NO END that you sit there in fucking Kansas blithely spouting these unbelievably IGNORANT things. The more shit like that you say, the more the rest of us confirm our opinion of you as an unmitigated jackass.
Well, I’ve worked with several people from the Middle East for years, and they agree that only brute force will end the conflict.
But, what do they know. After all, youvisited there.
I believe I explained where I got the definition from – the online version of Merriam-Webster. I even provided a link. You do know what Merriam-Webster is, don’t you Clint? It’s a dictionary. That’s a big book that has a bunch of words and what they mean. You may want to try taking a look at one someday. With careful study you too might someday learn to communicate properly in English. I suspect you’d still be a narrow-minded chump, but at least you wouldn’t have these silly semantic problems.
Hey Lamia, are you being anti-semantic?
No, I lived in Haifa for two months, and I lived in East Jerusalem for nine months. I have studied Hebrew and Arabic and I attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I have a degree in anthropology with a focus on religion.
I may not know as much about the Middle East as people who are from there, but I didn’t exactly go on a week-long vacation and decide I was an expert.
I think you’re lying. Nobody from an Arab country would support brute force being used against the Palestinians. Which country are these people you worked with from? In what capacity did you know them? How much contact did you have with them? Specifics, please.
Clint…
Did you pay any attention whatsoever to what Lynn said?
I would suggest you take a little vacation from here before you get put on permanent leave.
By stepping back and looking at things from a distance you might see things with a different perspective.
Futile Gesture - It’s true that people can say anything they want here but you’ve been here long enough to know that expressing certain opinions will either get you invited to the Pit, banned, or both.
The “pitting” should serve as a warning to many that their behaviour is not considered acceptable and that they should review their behaviour.
A wise person would try and see what got them brought to the Pit in the first place and see if there is anything they should be doing if they intend to continue as a member of the greater SDMB community.
I dunno, there are some (a small minority) of Israelis who would agree with these ideas. But you’re right, no Arabs would agree with that “logic.”
I hate to hijack a perfectly good fucktard roast, but if “wishing for the destruction of Israel” isn’t anti-semitism, then WTF is it?
Aren’t Palestinians semetic?
Being anti Israeli.
Note I said not necessarily anti-semitic - I’m sure most of those who wish for the destruction of Israel are indeed anti-semitic, but possibly not all, and anti-semitism may in fact not be the primary motivation of people who are anti-Israeli.
I would take wishing for the destruction of Jews in general, not just Israeli Jews, to be anti-semitism.
But of course the idiocy to which I was responding is idea that someone who supports the human rights of the Palestinian people is someone who supports the political goals of extremist Palestinian terrorists.
If stupid were a colour, Clint would be a rainbow.
NO Arabs?
Talk about being a jackass. You are actually stating that not one Arab could possibly be of the opinion that force is necessary to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?
Talk about pigeonholing an entire race.
Heh, you’re right. There are some Arabs who would be pro-force in ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. With force towards the Israelis, yeah.
There are always exceptions to every rule. There probably are Arabs who think the Israelis should occupy the West Bank and Gaza forever, and bring in more and more settlers. I’ve never met any or heard of any, but I’m not saying there’s no way they couldn’t possibly exist.
Yeah but Kyla, Clint here is soooooooo much more knowledgeable on the subject because unlike you, who has actually lived and gone to school in Jerusalem,** he has ACTUALLY, ya know, worked with a couple of people from the Middle East!** How can you compete with THAT!?!?!?
Clint - You obviously want to go out with a BANG, but you are looking pretty pathetic and stupid. Unless you want people to point and laugh at your SDMB demise, you should take the clue from Lynn and SHUT THE FUCK UP!
Or you can continue committing board suicide and converting more and more of us over to the opinion that you are an idiot.
Your choice.
And of course every Arab Clint has met is pro-Israelki settlement.
I also love his logic that Kyla has lived in the Middle East and studied the languages and politics of the region. Clint has stayed in Wichita and merely talked to people from the area, yet somehow his background trumps Kyla’s. What a champ.
Yes, but are you a jerk here?
Daniel
Expressing an opinion can get you banned? I don’t know of anyone that happened to. Being a jerk and/or expressing a provoking opinion at an inappropriate time, yes, but just for having an unpopular opinion?
Are we talking about behaviour here or opinions? Or, more worryingly, do you view them as one and the same thing? Try swapping ‘opinion’ into your sentence above to see what bothers me.
So the message we should take from you is don’t voice an opinion that goes against popular opinion? I guess we should all just hang out here and heartily agree with each other, pouncing without mercy on those who won’t toe the line.
I’ve no problem with people being invited to the pit to defend their dumb opinions, and/or being called lots of nasty names for holding them. But this thread is just a pile-on. The mob has gathered outside the school gates waiting for the unpopular kid to arrive, daring for him to show his face. Wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t the same mob that threatens to go to teacher when it starts turning ugly.
And, lest there be any doubt here, I am not defending Clint or his opinions. I just believe that bullying, name calling and driving people out of the SDMB 'cos we don’t agree with them is what we’re about.
Nice to see no matter how stupid somebody is, at least one poster will show up to defend them. Every time somebody trots out the time-worn clichés about the Clique and pile-ons and starts acting as if they are the sole defender of the misunderstood and oppressed bigoted shit-for-brains, I despair as to ever completing the main goal of this site. Fucking spare me, mmm kay?
Did it ever occur to you that maybe every single poster in this thread other then Captain Dingleberry might be right?
Of course, that would make your sanctimonious defender of liberty and the oppressed style posts look pretty damn naive, so I doubt it.
Clint, since your obsessed with definitions, I found one that seems to cover you nicely:
dip·shit ( P ) Pronunciation Key (dpsht) Vulgar Slang

Foolish or contemptible.

I do not have the power to stop anyone from posting on this board. If you express unpopular opinions then guess what? You are going to be unpopular.
Clint can continue to post at this message board if he wishes (unless and/or until he pisses off the administration of this board). He can not post here if he wishes. He can continue to post in this thread or not. It is his choice. No one is compelling him to post and no one is preventing him from posting.
And I ask you, just like I asked the faux Incubus, why is it OK for Clint to post his stupid opinion and it is not OK for me to?
