is it true that the car insurance companies paid to have those short metal railings installed next to the canals because after the bars and clubs closed the kiddies had a hobby of pushing parked cars into the water and it was getting a bit out of control for the insurance companies?

As part of my job I get reports from the police, and let me tell you Coldfire, your experience is not unusual. I have got two large ring binders full of examples of police (and criminal) stupidity. “I arrested him because he looked suspicious.”
Mind you, it’s not just them - one of my colleagues noticed recently that her shower curtain was dirty and in need of a wash, so she bought a spare one to use whilst the old one was hanging up to dry…
90G’s? Hmmmm. I don’t suppose you read about the guy in the US who locked his bike to a tree, everyday when he went to work, for 20 years & then one day recently the cops gave him a ticket for being not nice to a tree.
Guy had to hug the tree every day for months…really.
