Great game-
go Utah!!!
1.) Winner of Florida/Oklahoma
2.) USC
3.) Texas (provided they beat Ohio State).
4.) Utah
I count FOUR TEAMS who could make a legitimate claim to deserve a chance at the National Championship.
…if only there was a way to solve this problem.
Couldn’t we have a 3 round system of single elimination (8 teams) where winners of each round are chosen by voting?
I have to say I correctly predicted Utah beating Alabama in my College Bowl Mania picks on ESPN-dot-com. Of course, I also predicted Penn St. would beat USC. My logic was that Utah and Penn St. beat my beloved Oregon St. and Oregon St. beat USC. Actually, my picks have been pretty bad; I am below the 30th percentile even with the Utah upset. I think that USC and Utah have pretty good reason to believe they should have played in the national title game over Oklahoma. Given the way that Texas Tech got pasted, the Big 12 look bad. Also, USC plays in the undefeated in bowl games, Pac-10, and demolished Penn St.
I think that in future years, teams from the SEC and Pac-10 should get preference over Big 12 and Big 10 teams, if their records are equal, as they are clearly the better conferences, year in, year out. Also, the Mountain West should replace either the ACC or the Big East as a BCS conference.

My own system would have had: Virginia Tech@Florida, Cincinnati@Oklahoma, Utah@Texas, Penn State@USC. Home games for the top 4 seeds.
Winners play in two of the BCS bowls, final two play in a third (rotating yearly). If three more games are too many (despite that it takes 16 to win our state HIGH SCHOOL championship, and 16 for a NFL regular season), cut the season back to 12 games.
+1 won’t work when you still have >2 teams with a legitimate case.
Was wondering last night, how much, if at all, Urban Meyer helped the folks at his old school with scouting Alabama.
You missed the end of my sentence:
“…winner of each round chosen by voting”
It was a jab at the BCS, like maybe a BCS 2.0 that still doesn’t have the teams play each other, you just vote who wins each game.
My feeling is that a 4 team playoff going into the bowls would be ok, and 8 teams is more than enough.
