The “must see” game of the week is Alabama @ Texas A&M. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I expect Bama to get revenge for last year’s loss. Saban has had two weeks to game plan this one, and he’s dangerous when he has that much time.
Other games of particular interest to me include Mississippi State-Auburn and Ole Miss-Texas.
On the mini PAC-12/B1G Ten challenge, I fear a humiliating day for the B1G Ten. At least Michigan’s playing Akron this week to pad their video game numbers.
What the crap is Michigan doing? They look they have a ton and a half of rust on them. 3 series ended as missed FG, fumble, interception. They might even end the half down to Akron.
A&M went up 14-0, then Bama came rolling back with 28 unanswered, and they get the ball to start the second half. A&M getting some real home town officiating in this one. A phantom false start stopped Bama’s first drive, and then the refs tried to eject a key DB on a completely bogus “targeting” call. Glad the booth did the right thing and overturned the ejection.
Oregon was blowing out Tennessee last I checked. Think it was 31-7 or so.
Wow. What a game. Big road win for Bama. They beat A&M, Johnny Football, and the refs in this one. Blatant block in the back on that last long pass to Evan that set up the TD. A&M got the benefit of every doubt this afternoon, but it wasn’t enough.
You are correct, it was one heckuva of a CFB game.
But A&M didn’t get every benefit of doubt.
Bama’s DB was headed to locker-room after the targeting call. And then the replay booth overruled it.
Not sure if I like the Targeting rule, but I think that fit the definition. The Analyst said he was going for the ball and I say BULLS*** to that. His back was turned to the throw.
Not sure what to make of Johnny Football. That one interception in the endzone was a terrible decision by Manziel. But 400+ yds passing is hard to ignore.
The game that I’d like to watch now is Ol’ Miss vs. Texas. From what I can find out online it appears that this can only be watched on the Longhorn Network. We have Dish Network that has hundreds, if not thousands of channels. (Seriously, there are channels with 4 and 5 digits. The channel redundancy is ridiculous. If you think that it’s impossible to have too many channels, you should get Dish Network. I kinda hate it.)
So, is this game on (real) TV? Or does the Longhorn network have a monopoly on every game that Texas plays?
UCF beats Penn State. Shouldn’t have been close; we owned the first half. I’ll take our first win over a big Ten team though. 500 yards of offense against linebacker U.
I disagree. He was simply trying to catch the ball. The BS part of this rule is that, even after it was (rightfully) overturned, that only meant that he wasn’t ejected. That (false) call still cost Bama 15 yards.
However, things got evened out when an equally BS rule cost TAMU 15 yards. One of their defensive players lost his helmet, but, like a real man, he kept working for the tackle. He got charged with a personal foul for not curling up in a ball like a pussy.
I normally roll my eyes at people who complain about the pussification of college football, but these two rules are bullshit.
I only see it on the Longhorn Network too. Right now Texas’ Phillips was charged w targeting too but overturned like Bama earlier. Penalty did put Ol Miss in fg range.
