College football bowl game thread

Ladies and Gentlemen, that’s what I’m talkin bout.

After K St lineman moved on 4th and 1, announcer says “they were clearly just trying to draw Oregon offsides”

I doubt a lineman would go early if there was no plan to hike it.

One point safety, wow. I love watching K State get whipped… and scored upon in new and exciting ways. Baylor and Oregon both made the experience quite enjoyable.

This just reminds me how much Yahoo Sports sucks. It’s reporting the game currently as 31-17 (YMMV), and it’s got a completely effed up box score for the conversion safety (which is what I assumed happened, as I’m not watching the game and other box scores seem to corroborate). It shows the score going from 31-10 to 31-12 (instead of 32-10) after that safety. But it shows the Oregon scoring 9 and Kansas scoring 0 in the 3rd (when it should be 10 for Oregon, and 0 for Kansas, or 9 for Oregon and 2 for Kansas if they’re following their own messed up box score.) Just a total mess. And these sorts of errors have happened several times this year when I’ve checked scores on Yahoo! Sports. What is wrong with them?

I always assume there is someone in Mumbai who doesnt understand the sport doing the updates.

Good thing I added YMMV. Believe it or not, somebody fixed it in the interim. That still means that for an entire quarter, the score was off.

ETA: Actually, the scoring summary is still incorrect. This is what it says as of right now for that safety:

“Alejandro Maldonado missed PAT. Safety. 31 - 12” Where that should be “32 - 10.”

OK, I give up now. The big score on the top of the Yahoo page says 34-17, but the scoring summary says 35-17.

Why does Yahoo sports still have these dumb errors?

ETA: Awesome. They just corrected it. To the wrong score. They corrected the scoring summary (which was correct) to 34-17, to match the big score on top. What idiots run this show?

ETA2: Getting closer. Updated the top score to 35-17, now the scoring summary is off with 34-17.

OK, they seem to be back on their game now with 35-17, AND correcting the 31-12 error that persisted. However, in the interim, they somehow managed to give a score of 35-19. (And I have screen shots of all these errors.) This is rather impressive.

That last long drive was pretty impressive. Made KSU look pretty weak, the Ducks just shoved Kenyon Barner and the ball down their throats to peck at the clock.

Where does this put Oregon, do they have a shot at #2 if Monday’s game is a blowout?

I’d say they have an excellent shot, especially if ND wins. I don’t expect that to happen, but if it did, Oregon would have one loss to Bama’s 2.

It is very, very frustrating that they couldn’t kick a damn field goal against Stanford. I think they would easily beat ND, and I like their chances against Bama.

If the Tide roll on Monday, that would leave the top 3 tied at 12-1, right? That is how I like my college football, fuck certainty.

Ya know, this whole season was completely fucked up by Stanford. They shoulda beat ND (like they were until OT), and they shoulda lost to Oregon (like they were, until OT).

Then we would have had a wonderful Bowl season, without ND in a championship position, and a champion outside the SEC.

Fuckin’ Stanford!

:stuck_out_tongue:

And this trouble all started when Michelle Wie left campus. Just sayin.

This is one thing on which we agree.

I think that they will be #2 at the end of the season, and I think they have the best college football team. As a Bama fan, I am so glad that we play ND in the NCG instead of Oregon. Oregon scares me.

I was very much looking forward to Oregon - Alabama: great offense vs great defense. Freakin’ Stanfurd had to go and ruin everything.

Rucksinator, don’t let any other SEC fans know that you admitted to harboring any doubts. Your secret is safe with me.

Well, I don’t have any doubts about Bama vs. Notre Dame. And in about an hour everybody will see that Bama’s one loss had more to do with TAMU’s abilities than 'Bama’s.

My Aggies are up 7-6 on OU right now in the Cotton Bowl. OU’s been moving the ball well, but A&M’s been shutting them down in the red zone. Manziel’s made some big plays, but he just had a pass into the end zone bumbled by his receiver (should have had it!) and then intercepted by OU. Sooner’s are on the attack now.

14-13 and yeah, hella game.

That frikkin’ Manziel is quick. And you know, pretty as Erin Andrews is, she got a really annoying voice. Just sayin.
