College Football Ectasy

Ok, it’s one o’clock in the morning and I’ve been drinking Evan Williams and Diet Coke for the last 4 hours…and I just finished watching maybe the third most exciting football game I’ve ever seen.

LSU 35 ASU 31.

I did my undergrad at LSU and I bleed purple and gold. I have my teams in several sports, but nothing, NOTHING, compares to LSU football (LSU baseball is a close second…but it is still second).

This game was amazing. If you saw it you know what I mean. If not, well, you missed a good one.

As time was winding down, I would still catergorize this one for my memory even had LSU lost.

Great game!

I just had to post. I’m high all the way around!

The major downside being that you missed the best game of the day on the other channel. What a hardcore awesome game, and I am indifferent to both schools.

Nah, I was flipping on commercials and the OSU / Texas Game was over by the time the LSU game was entering the 4th quarter.

That was a good one also, but since I didn;t care who won that one it was an “academic” great game rather than an “emotional” great game.

Buy, yes, you are right. If you were just a fan and did not follow any of the schools on tonight, either way you were in for a treat.

I almost had a heart attack with the LSU game. I especially wanted us to win because with either Ohio State or Texas losing + Michigan’s loss, we were bound to jump to the top three. I’m not too worried about our WR’s dropping balls, they’ll fix that, but our defense had trouble putting pressure on Keller and our secondary was horrible. We will need to make some major improvements there if we want to beat Tennessee.

My PSU team won again, but they still look like they have to work on fundamentals. Notre Dame had another surprising win and I enjoyed watching it in between watching the Lions. I love the autumn!

::ssssnnniiiffff!!!::

I LOVE the smell of football in the morning! You smel that? That’s the smell of victory!

The Iowa/Iowa State was pretty, too. Really enjoyed the ND/Mich and OSU/Texas games.

I’m also happy that the damn Sooners AND Auburn both lost their openers last week, so we don’t have to hear all that crap again. And yeah, I’m kind of a Sooner fan myself (when it doesn’t conflict with my real love, the Buffs.) OU/Texas is going to hurt a lot of my friends around here, but oh well.

What crap did you hear from the Sooners? They got in The Game. Auburn didn’t raise as much hell as most BCS teams that went 13-0 would have raised if they didn’t get a chance to play for the championship.
A couple of my good friends that graduated from LSU (a serious failing on their part, but…) have remarked to me: “Y’all didn’t raise near as much hell as we would have!”

Let me clue you in, NoClueBoy: Three teams with perfect records after the regular season/conference championship games is not likely to happen again, but, if this year there are three teams with one loss each, you’ll hear another bunch of noise from what ever team gets left out.

(bolding mine)

This is a great reason for not having polls start before, say, October 15th. The annual rash of early season “upsets” is a clear indicator that nobody knows the relative strength of teams until several games have been played.

My favorite game of the day: ISU puts it on Iowa. Nothing personal here, I just love it when an underdog wins. This game was no fluke either, it was a serious ass-whuppin.

Other things noted:
Steve Superior can still coach college football. He’ll probably get the Lamecocks in a bowl this year.

Vanderbilt is a MONSTER! Beat Arkansas on the road. Two wins and the season’s only two weeks old. Go 'Dores. (Everything’s relative, right?)

LSU: Enjoy the inflated ranking while you can. Auburn and Florida are coming your way. Don’t worry about the wimp-ass Vols. There ain’t much there.

I asked Hubby the Hawkeye if he thought Iowa played badly or if Iowa State played well. Of course he wouldn’t give ISU any credit. “The first string didn’t play long enough last week, they were rusty.” Ha!

Clue me in!

Clue me in!

Waaaay in!

The “crap” was the whole situation. Remember how I lamented for a playoff of any kind? Last year should’ve killed the BCS for good. But, still here it is.
