The game was pretty fun to watch, but my favorite part was this line by the announcer near the end of the 4th quarter after a fumble and recovery by Iowa St:
“that would have been an Ok St ball, if they had come up with it”
As an Alabama fan, i have a pretty huge smile on my face right now.
I’m sorry; what? Not about the Hawkeyes? NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH
::exits thread in a whiff of immaturity::
If it creates any controversy for the ridiculous system called the BCS, then I’m smiling also (in the hopes that someday, the teams can get to the finals by playing games instead of having people vote).
But I don’t want to see LSU and Alabama play again (and I don’t want to see LSU Oregon again either) - I enjoy watching 2 teams that haven’t played already.
I’m no fan of the BCS, and I’m a Bama homer, but I also happen to think that Alabama and LSU are honestly the two best teams in the nation, as judged by the Nov. 5 game.
I agree. As I said in another thread, what I’d like to see now is LSU lose to an unranked team, and Bama vs Oregon in the title game.
Go 'Clones!
twicks, who has no idea what this thread is even about, but who taught at ISU for a couple of years
Well, it would’ve. And all of tonight’s games are under the lights.
It is a rotten time to be attending OSU. I would have been happy to hear we’d have one (or maybe two) losses this season at the beginning of it, but after seeing the first ten games and climbing through the ranks, it feels terrible. We finally got close! “Squinky” (the name given to our sports-dream-crushing imp by an article earlier this season) didn’t wait for Bedlam, but for the worst day of the year:
As a school, I think a win was hoped for to take our minds off of things, even just for a little while. Ten years after the first plane crash there was another… and sure, it sucks to lose a football game, but things like “It’s so much worse to lose people” and “Keep it in perspective” have been floating around facebook. Westboro Baptist has announced that they plan to picket the Monday memorial services (for 2 coaches, and the pilot and his wife - OSU alumni) and I can only hope enough of the community shows up peacefully but can keep them out.
Sorry to be a downer. I bet this was the most exciting FB win in ISU history. I think the Cowboys are just trying to reframe their ideas right now: 2 months ago, the championship was an impossible dream, and 2 days ago, losing that dream felt like the worst thing that could happen to us as a fanbase instead of something that now shouldn’t be important at all.
Thanks Yogi.
