2012 College Football Week 4

Some real snoozers in the afternoon slate, but things heat up in the night games.

Missouri at South Carolina is probably the best SEC matchup this week. Hoping it will be televised in my area.

LSU at Auburn is probably the 2nd best SEC game of the week, but I don’t expect it to be close. LSU should handle the War Damn Eagles easily.

Michigan at Notre Dame might be a good one, but they’re all a bunch of damn yankees, and I hope they both lose.

Oklahoma hosting Kansas State has some upset potential.

Florida State hosting Clemson is my pick for game of the week. I expect the Seminoles to get the win, but they’re going to have to work for it.

Watching the Baylor-La Monroe game. LaMo has a pretty good team, and played Baylor tough.

I guess they played the game in Monroe, La and the football field looks to be saturated.

Checking the Radar at 10:30 central time, just as the game is concluding there doesn’t appear to be any rain within 400 miles of Monroe. Strange.

Yeah, there’s some good ones out there. My feeling about FSU/Clemson is that we will handle them, the big questions are:

  1. Can our defense stop their offense? There was a funny tweet about that from our local sportswriter - he said that “FSU has to be only team in the country that has a scout team version of Sammy Watkins that’s actually faster than the real Sammy Watkins.” Our defense has looked stifling up til now, but this is the first real test (sorry Wake, you don’t count).
  2. Can our offense keep the pressure up with the run? We’ve looked good so far, but again, first real test.
  3. Can we avoid the injuries that decimated us last year? (Injuries are something every team has to worry about of course, but last year was just brutal for the 'Noles).

As for your games, Oak: I’ll take SC, LSU*, Michigan, Okalahoma (I don’t see any upset happening here), and, of course, FSU.

*straight up. If we’re covering spreads then I want Auburn. -21 for a division game. Wow. How far Auburn has fallen. Hope that tainted Nat Champ was worth it boys.

Wow, Big Ten looking weak as the cupcakes take all the early games to the 4th quarter close.

Gamecocks looking good against Missouri, up 14-0 in the 2nd…

I’m watching Northern Illinois vs Kansas. I guess Kansas should stick to basketball.

For the Love of God…WHY?

Mizzou and USoCar are playing!

31-10. Guess that “Old Man football” is harder than it looks…

Mizzou is finding out that there is not 8 different flavors of cupcakes in the SEC.

Miami opens with a 19-0 lead against GT.
GT responds with 36.
Miami finishes with a 23-0 run (6-0 in OT).

I’m doing the happy dance.

I don’t want to talk about it.

Auburn up 10-9 on LSU at the half. Didn’t see that one coming.

More like Ramblin’ Drek, amirite?!

Seriously, though, I just love how 1) Miami is playing a TON of freshmen (Duke Johnson had a “quiet” 200 all purpose yards), and 2) the seniors are still going all out even though this is a season to build for 2013 and 2014. Mike James ran like a mf’er. It’s nice to be 2-0 in conference with 2 road wins. Maybe the Canes will finally get to the ACC-CG after 8 years.

Michigan is moving the chains, but they are giving Notre Dame the game. Literally. 6 turnovers so far.

LSU survives an old school SEC war, 12-10 over Auburn.

Rutgers beat Arkansas. Ouch.

KSU over OU. That 52-13 loss for Miami to the Wildcats is still bad, but looks a tad better right now than 2 weeks ago.

FSU looks this close to running away with a win tonight. I want this game to end so I can switch to Oregon/Arizona.

EMAW!

  1. They pounded a ranked team but have their campus located on the wrong side of the Mississippi. I say this with tongue firmly in cheek. It’s all just part of the Autumnal fun.

Go 'Noles!

Clemson fans were tweeting stuff during the 4th quarter praising FSU; it’s still early in the season, but it looks like the Garnet & Gold are the real deal again (finally)!
