2012 College Football Week 4

On that note, it appears that Minnesota is now #1 in the Big Ten. Minnesota. Go Gophers!, but I’m more in shock than anything.

They may move up to #2 this week, with LSU just squeaking by Auburn.

Hey, Northwestern is still undefeated.

Go 'Noles!

2nd half was much better than the first. Two things I think: 1. Good adjustments at the half and 2. depth finally told (and we have depth again!). Still, good game on Clemson’s part. Got away with some holds (doesn’t everybody though), but overall a nice clean game. Clemson is becoming a serious rivalry game for us.

Tallahassee is awfully quiet today. Wonder why?

mkecane, yep, your boys are better than I gave them credit for pre-season. See you in a month! Hopefully we can avoid a “gotcha” over the next few weeks…

Yep, I realize that now. I was actually at a friend’s wedding last night, and just surfing on the bus ride home, so my information was coming from Facebook. Minnesota’s tied for#1, I should say. Beating Wisconsin, though, which is the important part.

How long before Chizik is on the hot seat? Or if he is already, how long does he have to turn it around, before hitting the unemployment line?

Well, OK, I’m wrong. I thought Oregon looked good and apparently some pollsters thought so too.

Anyone buying the Irish? The defense is top 5, but the offense has a lot of work to do.

The Big 10, on the other hand, is gross from top to bottom.

Nope. Tommy Rees, despite coordinating one very impressive drive, is a liability. Golson has a ton of growing up to do, but he’s their best shot. How they managed 6 turnovers and just 13 points against Michigan is mind-boggling. However, their schedule just keeps unfolding in a way that makes it look like a march towards USC in November. Every team on there is beatable.

However, defense can most certainly win a ton of games in college football, and ND’s defense is amazing. I may not be buying a top 5 finish, but I will buy Manti Teo’s ticket to the New York Athletic Club. He won’t come home with the hardware, but he deserves serious consideration.
