2012 College Football Week 3

Alabama-Arkansas is probably going to be less entertaining than it looked when the schedules first came out. Arkansas got upset, and I think their starting QB is out with a concussion this week. Might be a long game for the redshirt freshman backup against that Bama D…

FSU can’t be looking past Wake Forest this year, right?

Given the way things are shaking out, I’m nervous about Auburn’s chances against LaMo.

Dear heavens, I hope not! It helps that Clemson is down (and thus a bit less of an upcoming threat) and that the starters have got to be chomping at the bit. They’ve played, what? Slightly less than one full half of football so far this year? I suspect they’ll at least get to play into the third (even if things are going well) just to get them full-game ready.

Alabama-Arkansas: battle of the two coaches least popular in East Lansing.

Michigan State-Notre Dame: almost guaranteed to be a great game. Look for that Spartan Stadium magic to strike, probably in the north end zone.

UF v UT will go a long way toward defining the wide open SEC East.

52-0 with 4 minutes ago. I think they were focused.

Plus, you know, Wake is really not good this year.

Good call Zeldar, but the Tigers scratched out a win.

UNC football disappointing me. Business as usual

and somehow the almost comeback is more disheartening than a blowout ):

Roll Tide.

I thought I may have been reaching by saying 42-7 a few days ago. Nothing matters for 7 weeks.

Texas is all over Ole Miss tonight.

WKU scores an upset over Kentucky, Miss State struggled with Troy, and Auburn went to overtime against UL-Monroe.

Other SEC games went pretty much as expected.

Roll Tide.

Is it an exaggeration to say that the SEC consists of 2 excellent teams, 2 very good teams, and then a bunch of nobody specials? (including one spectacularly overrated team, Arkansas)

My Bears looked so much better than expected against Ohio State that I almost categorize this as a win. Almost.

Stanford’s dominance over USC is fascinating.

Maybe not. Go Irish!

ND’s defense really impressed me- even rushing only 3, they got through the Spartan line. Unless MSU gets the passing game some confidence, it’s conceivable we might not go to the Rose Bowl.

I am starting to giggle that the Big 10 Championship game could be coming down to a distant 2nd and 3rd team playing each other. Now Michigan State, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Michigan all look very winnable for tOSU.

The SEC currently has 6 teams in the Top 25: Bama, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and Mississippi State. That’s one short of having half the conference being nationally ranked. Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Missouri are all second tier SEC teams this year, but may end up bowl eligible, leaving Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss as relatively soft conference opponents. That’s a pretty strong conference…and one which is likely to produce a 7th consecutive BCS Champion.

It’s a quibble, but given their performance against LA-Monroe…I’d say it’s a stretch to call Arkansas and Auburn “second-tier”.
