TCU will get a bid if they finish in the Top 16 in the final BCS rankings and ahead of one of the AQ Conference Champions (in this case probably West Virgina). Boise St would technically be available for an at large bid, but I doubt they’d be chosen this year with so many other better choices (eg Michigan and Stanford)? Houston’s loss today does open up another at-large bid though.
Who is the Fox announcer who is screaming at me! with that circus catch by Wisconsin?
I am glad they don’t cover many games.
Ha, I just switched over to that game too and thought the same thing!
Ok thanks Diver. That makes sense.
IMO, Arkansas deserves a bid over Michigan for sure.
Twitter is lighting up tonight with a lot of pro Ok State propaganda.
Dick Vitale wants voters to take into account the plane crash of the Womens B-Ball coach right before the Iowa St game.
Oh, Sparty! Not Running into the Kicker!
and nullified an incredible runback.
someone tweeted “Highest scoring game in B1G Championship game history”
Well, we came close to the Rose Bowl. Damn that 4th down pass. Damn that roughing the kicker.
The Iowa State loss looks a teensy bit better, given how close they played K. State today. I’m good with an OSU/LSU BCS game. Alabama had their shot (even if, I agree with all those who say they’re pretty much the #1A in the country)
Lol’ing at the Cougars right now. Especially after all of the “UH should totally be in the BCS! We’re the best team in Texas!” stuff I’ve had to read in the local paper this last month. How do you get rolled by 21, at home, when you’re favored by 13.5?
There is no doubt in my mind that Oklahoma State should be in the BCS title game over Alabama.
Alabama lost their conference, and on closer inspection only beat an embarrassing 1 out of the top 5 teams in their own conference. That’s amazing to me. SEC schedules are routinely overrated due to the fact that they play less conference games and less road games than any other conference, yet draw on the reputations of teams they didn’t even play.
I don’t bump Alabama ahead of conference winner Oklahoma State just because LSU rolled into Alabama’s stadium and didn’t beat them by much. Great teams have been known to stumble in conference road games. Losing close at home is not a resume builder.
SEC plays 8 conference games, just like the B1G, and ACC, and up until this year, just like the Big XII. they went to a full round robin when they ended up with 10 teams.
PAC12 plays 9 games, and Big East plays 7 (only 8 teams).
and the SEC plays more home games than other AQ conference is BS.
Tell me how many home games Wisconsin had this vs Alabama?
The SEC Hatred is going to get ramped up tonight!
Like Mark May said earlier tonight, at least the SEC will now be losing a BCS game now!
I was a strong opponent of the potential Ohio State vs Michigan rematch as well.
A team which not only gets creamed in its own conference, but can only manage to beat a pathetic 1 of the top 5 teams in that conference, has no place in the national championship game.
Selective memories:
Bama beat Penn St, and was the only loss on Penn St record until the scandal.
Who knows what effect the scandal had on their football team.
Creamed?
I agree OSU should go to the BCS championship, no question. But, they were the ones who got creamed in conference, not Bama. You’re doing a terrible job of making the argument for OSU. Let someone else do it for you.
Losing on the road, in the 2nd overtime, in a back-to-back road game only 6 days after the previous road game, is getting creamed? (Alabama did not play back-to-back road games this year)
Oklahoma State beat 4 of the top 5 teams in the Big 12 (all but themselves).
Alabama beat 1 out of the top 5 teams in the SEC, lost the conference, and already lost at home to LSU.
Right, because losing by 3 in OT to the #1 team is getting creamed, but losing by 6 to a shit team in OT isn’t? What is this, amateur hour?
There are better arguments to be made. Back-to-back road games is not one of them. In fact, it’s laughable.
While we’re at it, who do you consider to be the Top 5 teams in the SEC? You know it’s impossible for Alabama to beat themselves, right?
How does my team look?
Looks like they’re going to the Rose Bowl.
This I would love to hear. Who do you think they are?
The top 5 teams not named Bama are LSU, Arkansas, UGA, SC, and Auburn.
You can’t penalize Bama for not beating themselves. It’s sad that I even have to point that out.
FWIW: @Florida and Tennessee were also part of Bama’s schedule this year. Together, these two two teams have won 3 of 13 BCS Championship games. Bama played @ Florida, winner of 3 of the last 5 BCS games.
Dislclaimer: I know neither team were not very good this year, but when these two teams were on the schedule, Bama had no way of knowing that these two teams would be as bad as they were.
UGA is the one who had the scheduling gods are their side this year. They missed Ark, Bama, and LSU in the regular season.
SEC teams have one rival from the other division to play every year:
LSU/UF
Aub/UGA
SC/Ark
Miss/Vandy
Miss St/Ky
and Bama vs Tenn.
Up until a few years ago, Bama was getting one of the shorter sticks by playing Tennessee every year. Obviously that has changed, as the Vols are playing really badly these days.
Who knows what happens to the yearly rivals when the SEC expands to 14 teams next year.
TAMU joins the West? to make it the South-West division?
Mizzou joins the East? to make it the North-East Division?
If this happens, I hope the SEC adds another conference game, and Mizzou plays Arkansas every year. Since USCe loses Arkansas as their West rival, they would play TAMU every year.
