HECK no, I love and adore Tedford. I don’t even boo Riley! But I’ve been at this a long time and I know when a season looks hopeless. The season is half over and there are no more Colorados to kick around (except Wash St.) If it rains, the home field advantage over Ariz St will be a wash, and we are coming off a humiliating loss.
Don’t get too fired up. If Illinois had anything resembling a competent QB you’d have been in trouble in that game. The Illini defense is no joke and they run the ball well, but if they play like that against more well rounded teams you could be in deep trouble.
Love the downers, here! My team is doing fantastically well at this point in the season. We’ve won one more game than I thought we would at this point and we’re winning the weird tough games that we lost last year. 11-1 is an actual possibility (although I still think 10-2 is more likely). Go 'Noles!
Really though, it was somewhat inevitable. Take the fact that Urban focused your entire game plan around Tebow, but then didn’t have Tebow Jr. to take over and add in some serious motivation for payback and this was gonna happen someday. Add in some key injuries on the o-line and someday just came a little sooner than I (and obviously most pollsters, Florida fans, etc) expected. With that said though, I’m starting to wonder if Addazio isn’t Urban’s version of Jeff Bowden.
And EVEN WITH ALL THAT, you guys are the 2 in my 10-2 prediction above…
On the other hand, in the past 6 years the only teams to have beaten Cal at home are USC and OSU, neither of whom are on the home schedule. (I fear Oregon is going to end the streak, though)
I am going to enjoy Wisconsin’s victory over Ohio State all week. I’m not going to think about the very large chance that the Badgers will fall flat on their face in Iowa.
Iowa has a way of destroying Badger dreams.
I am glad I’m not a fan of Purdue. Ohio State is gonna be locked and loaded this week.
Remember the old days when Notre Dame and Navy played thrilling, down-to-the-wire games? It’s a shame the old Catholic institution can’t keep up with the recruiting capabilities of the service academies anymore.
Oh, and ON WISCONSIN. Bret Bielema just earned himself an extension this weekend. And I might just be okay with that.
