College football fans: how's your team look?

BCS rankings are not released until Sunday evening, Eastern time.

Well the next two weeks should be interesting for Michigan. They are really playing with house money at this point. 7 wins guarantees a winning season, and I’m pretty sure enough to save Rich for another year. Everybody knows they are really over-matched, and the D’s just can’t stand up to Wisc, and OSU this year. It is honestly the only time In my life of following the wolverines that I can remember them going into a game without lots of pressure. It could turn into one hell of a circus if all those young kids go in there loose with a big “what the fuck, lets have fun” attitude.

Like they’re throwing lot’s of monkeys off their backs.

9-1 in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year!

After a pretty sad-looking loss to Arkansas last week, my Gamecocks looked like they were doing their usual late-season swoon. But then they walloped Florida last night, 36-14, in the Swamp. That gets them a ticket to the SEC championship game. They’re one of several teams that Auburn squeaked by, so the rematch has potential to be interesting.

My heart dropped when UF ran the opening kickoff back for a TD, but I felt better pretty quick!

My Spartans must have had a lousy week of practice- they dropped 1 place in the poll and the BCS despite having a bye week.

As much as I despise Nick Satan, I’m pulling for Alabama to beat Auburn and their unsavory QB, then have South Carolina dump Auburn in the SEC title game, setting up an SEC-free BCS title game.

I switched over when the Texas-OSU game got boring (as in, late first quarter). Cal-Oregon was a MUCH better game. I was kinda pulling for Cal at the end, they were doing so well.

Bama tanked (at least, by the standards of this season’s expectations). Not a big deal, though. Last season was so incredibly magical; it had to end sometime, and it’s really, really difficult to repeat as champs. I was proud of the Tide Saturday. Nothing in particular to play for (besides, perhaps, spoiling Auburn’s run in a couple of weeks), but they came out and played with pride, and stomped the bejeezus out of Mississippi State.

Thats a red hot negative… that dude is a BEAST!!! 6’5 250 and every week Cam is getting better and better… and nothing but hate to that shitty little sewer school called Miss State… they’d have to pay my son to play for the piece of dung school too.

Cam will kick Bama’s ass… he runs for 175… and racks up another 5 td’s

IIRC, the Strength of Schedule component in the computer calculations is cumulative, rather than averaged.

In other words, if you have an off week, your SOS is standing still while other teams are going forward.

It is a reason why a Conference Championship game is important. The extra game helps your SOS.

Why oh why is Oregon still number 1 after this? Those thugs on BART need to be taken down a peg.

It’s going to be awkward in Boulder next Saturday. Last home game, senior day - all the seniors are honored with their parents before the game. One of the seniors is a quarterback named Cody Hawkins.

Pac-10 teams faking injuries against Oregon.

Video of California player allegedly faking an ankle injury.

Cal’s nose tackle gets up after the play, takes a couple of steps, looks at the sideline, and then goes down, apparently in excruciating pain.

Yeah, Oregon fans haven’t stopped whining since Saturday. Call the waaahmbulance. If it’s illegal, throw a flag. If it’s legal, shut up & deal with it.

I believe SEC fans refer to the behavior exhibited by Cal as “tryin’”.

And Oregon’s high-powered, up-tempo offense committed a half-dozen unflagged false starts and illegal procedures. There was one play, immediately following a first down, where they snapped the ball before the ref gave the “start the clock” signal, and before the chain gang had even started moving the chains.

What would happen if some of those D linemen who found themselves in the backfield just took their sweet-assed time getting up and getting back to the formation? Would they be flagged for being offsides if Oregon lined up quickly?

Yes, once the ball is placed it can be hiked (on a first down they have to wait for the refs signal, but the ref doesn’t wait for the defensive players).

I don’t blame Cal or Oregon for calling attention to it. It is smart, by Cal, but it isn’t exactly the way I want to see football played, so I think there should be some clarity or additional rules. I wouldn’t mind a rule that said an injured player must sit out for two or three plays, instead of just one.

I think I read this earlier in the thread.

A false start is illegal; faking an injury isn’t. I think Oregon moves too quickly for the officiating crew.

It will be very interesting to see how Oregon reacts to their near-death experience, how their upcoming opponents (especially in the BCS bowl) leverage what happened, and whether any officiating changes or points of emphasis come about.
