West Virginia was not in the mix for any National championships at the time of the BCS formation . It was only after Miami, Boston College and Va Tech left the Big East for the ACC in 2005 when West Virginia became a “contender.”

Well the rumor mill is big in Southern Michigan these days. Scuttlebutt says
1.Making a bowl was the requirement, and Rich Rod is safe for another year.
OR. He need a win tomorrow to keep his job.
OR He is gone either way and Harbaugh will be the new coach by Tuesday.
They say Jim is getting pissed that even with a decent team, nobody in Palo Alto cares. So he wants to move up. Personally I think he would prefer to go to the NFL, but if UM puts an offer on the table who knows. Of course this is all in addition to the rumors several years ago that he opened his mouth one too many times and had been blacklisted from consideration forever.
I think Harbaugh would be a great coach, and an improvement on Rodriquez. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rich might be able to get a championship at a school with lesser academic requirements.(ie SEC). I don’t he is a good fit for Michigan, but Other than Harbaugh I can’t see anybody else out there I would switch him with right now.
My guess is on Monday… absolutely nothing happens and Rich comes back, but I have been wrong a lot lately. :smack:
I think your guess is right in that nothing will happen on Monday. I don’t think the coaching carousel gets going until after the bowl season.
Meanwhile: holy crap, does Auburn look bad/Bama look good. If Heisman voters were looking for a reason not to vote for Cam Newton, they sure found one.

The next best thing to the amazing comeback was the respect that Bama players gave to Auburn. No Georgia horseshit but genuine respect and admiration. Goes a long way to undo some hate. At least the bragging rights won’t be as vicious this year, I suspect.
That said, it’s going to be fun listening to Finebaum on Monday! 
Actually, I have a feeling the players aren’t nearly as bitter about any given Iron Bowl as the fans. I remember after last year’s Bama win, even as heartbreaking as it had to have been for Auburn, all the AU and UA players were out in the middle of the field, hugging, laughing, and joking around. Lots of these guys know each other from high school, and are good friends. Fierce competitors on the field, yes, but there are lots of old friends between the two teams.

Take a well-deserved bow! Can’t believe Nevada has chinzty short goalposts. I’m not 100% sure that attempt at the end of regulation was wide but the officials had a better view than the camera. BSU is like the schoolyard bully that beats up on the weak kids and takes their lunch money. Then they find a kid that fights back and all of a sudden they aren’t so tough anymore. Glad to see them lose. Props to the officials for not being in the tank for BSU, there are conferences that seem to give all the breaks to teams in the hunt for the title game.
