I don’t think they’re bad. They looked like high school players out there the last couple years in terms of player development, and they seem to have their act together. A few too many poor plays doesn’t make them look good, but they’re certainly not bad. They won’t be nearly as painful to watch as they have in the past.
I am from Memphis, so I can talk about our local teams.
I went to the U. of Mississippi, and the Rebels are not very good this year. Lost to a subdivision team. The team at the last minute got a 23 year old kid named Masoli, who played for the Oregon Ducks for 4 years but was kicked off the team, so he is playing in Mississippi. The NCAA actually barred Masoli from playing in 2010 and then reversed themselves after an appeal. If Masoli wasn’t there, the Rebels would have no quarterback. Then they lost their first game at home against something calling themselves Jacksonville State. That was embarrassing. They beat Tulane. Of course, a couple of girl scouts could beat Tulane too. I really can’t see them doing shit this year and will be lucky to win 6 games. Alabama is going to beat them like Mike Tyson on Betty White. If you are a fan of legalized homicide, tune into the Ole Miss/Alabama game.
University of Memphis is historically a bad team and this is probably the worst squad ever. I honestly do not see this team winning one game. They are in the C-USA, a crappy second tier football conference. Interestingly, the owner of FedEx, a one Fred Smith’s son is (or was) the Quarterback, but he sucks like a French prostitiute, with some grumbling that he got the position because of his daddy. Maybe not. Since I am from Memphis, I do cheer for them (except for the Rebels) and want them to succeed since Memphis is such a hard luck town. U of Memphis cannot compete for players in SEC country.
Univ. of Tennessee at Knoxville, Tennessee’s second professional football team (joke, but not really) is looking at a hard year too. Their stock has come down a few notches, with them losing badly against Oregon in their stadium, which holds 100,000 people (I’ve been there, and that fucker is huge)
They have a new coach. Their pervious coach was some punk from California with a girl’s name who split after one year to run back to his daddy and to U$C or some other dope smoking California school.
Arkansas Hogs seem to have a good team, but Alabama is going to kick everyone’s ass and play in the big game.
well i think this saturday will be a humdinger. ut doesn’t seem to have it’s offense in gear and tuberville is much more defense minded than leach. but ut’s defense is still pretty highly regarded and i’ll be interested to see how they do against the tech offense that still is geared to move the ball rapidly.
I went to USC (and root for them foremost), but live near Reno (and my wife is an alumus of UNR), so I watched the game with much Joy.
DUDE! What happened? I know The Pack is a quick and slippery team, but MAN! I never saw that coming! I figured a 62-45 win by the Bears, with Nevada scoring 20 of those points in a last ditch futile effort, but…
I spent some weeks during football season in Reno and damn, is that offense good. Colin Kaepernick might be able to make it as a receiver in the pros. For now, he’s a human collegiate gazelle.
Boise State will have its hands full when they play Nevada, but I think Kaepernick will be denied the WAC championship he’ s been working on for four years, despite racking up insane yardage.
hehe, well it looks like a damn good season for University of Michigan QBs so far , 8-0 this year and a good chance to hit 9-0 the way the Wisconsin game is looking
Moichigan’s defense is as bad as advertised. They might play games with basketball scores this year. The offense can move the ball. U Mass is not exactly a high powered team, but they put a scare into Mich. by moving up and down the field.
Damn, I wish I knew. It’s like we never saw any film on the pistol offense. I just walked in the door, so I haven’t read the online forums ranting and raving.
We were without all-Pac MLB Mike Mohammed, but I don’t think he would’ve single-handedly shut down Nevada. We were completely clueless on defense, and shot ourselves in the foot too much on offense. I thought it would be a shootout, but we fired too many blanks.
We had such high hopes for the Virginia Tech Hokies, and they haven’t met up to the hype…its been extremely disappointing…now they finally won their first game of the season…GO HOKIES! They still haven’t played an ACC game so far, that will start next week with Boston College.
Well, I only kinda watch college, but when I do PSU is my team. Although they have won two this year, I am thinking that they aren’t looking as strong as I would like. The D seems to be good, but offense needs some work.
I am a Badger fan. We are 3-0 (most likely 4-0 after next week). I am not worried about margins of victory (as long as we win), because we often seem to play down to the level of our competition. I am worried about losing LB Chris Borland, because he is one of those rare players who has the ability to make a great play out of absolutely nothing.
Least they won, but yeesh – I’m starting to look grimly at my Red River Shootout tickets and wondering if I’m just going to have a very depressing drive back to Austin.
