That’s not a drinking game. That’s suicide by alcohol poisoning.
Not sure if there are any other Florida State alums on here, but I’m glad Bowden is going to retire tomorrow. I was at FSU during the early part of the glory days from 1987-1991. Ever since the Oklahoma loss in 2001, this program has been a disappointment. Part of it isn’t Bowden’s fault, other schools in Florida have built up their football programs and they’re getting a lot of recruits that FSU would have gotten 15 years ago. Bowden’s style of going into the houses of players from small Southern towns and talking Jesus to the parents of the recruits isn’t nearly as effective as it was in the past.
Bowden hasn’t had control of the program for the past ten years. The academic scandal really hurt the team and the endless battles with the NCAA make him look obsessed with the Paterno record.
Both Miami and UF have had quite a few coaches over the past 20 years. While Miami has stuggled to get back to the powerhouse they were, UF has survived the loss of Spurrier and is now the best program in the country.
I don’t know if Jimbo Fisher is the answer, but it is time to find out.
Well, I am not technically an alum, but I am an Oregon State drop-out. The Ducks denied us the Rose Bowl last year at Reser; I really hope we can return the favor at Autzen. Bonus is that we would go ourselves.
Hey…just like Ochocinco!
I’m surprised no one’s bumped this for the Civil War. That was a lot of fun to watch. That last drive - going for fourth down twice - was fantastic. I liked that they were playing like they were behind.
Rose Bowl should be fun, depending on which tOSU team shows up.
Yeah, this was a fun game, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many missed tackles in my life (this side of a Pee-Wee football game, at least). Oregon State looked like they were going to pull out the upset until the Ducks finally got some pressure on Canfield, who then imploded.
I’m biased, but I think Ohio State should win pretty handily in Pasadena. They’ll run right through Oregon, rack up 200+ and maybe even 300+ yards on the ground (depending on how much Pryor tucks it in and runs). I think Oregon’s offense might give OSU some early hiccups, but they’ve got the speed on defense to make up for it. Plus, they already played Navy, with their bastardized, Paul Johnson-less triple option shenanigans, so Oregon shouldn’t be completely novel.
Ohio State 35 Oregon 24
I was really rooting for the Beavs. It’s pretty amazing how much rival fans in the PAC-10 are willing to come together to root against Oregon. I’m pretty certain Oregon is the most universally disliked program in the conference.
With that being said, though, if anybody is going to represent the PAC-10 by putting a titanic sized ass whooping on Ohio State, I’d have my money on Oregon. Represent us well, Ducks (then come down with a massive case of diarrhea at the post game dinner).
Just out of curiousity, why all the hatred?
I’d assume it’s the new toys from Knight-ke, and the attitude that goes with it.
Thought I’d think that everyone would be able to root against USC too.
Bingo. USC has retired the trophy for Most Despised Program, but Oregon and their gigantic rumpus room and silly uniforms is up & coming.
Oregon’s uniforms were a lot easier on the eyes last night. It was a lighter shade of green for the jerseys and the pants were white.
The monochromes that they wore against USC were horrid.
Those were throwback uni’s. Except for using the “O” logo instead of the enraged Donald Duck, they were otherwise the 1990’s color scheme.
Nah, I think USC is still the leader in that category. It’s dominance in the Pac-10 during the 2000s, its obnoxious band and the stupid little ditty they blare out over and over, the arrogance, the whole Trojan thing.
But Oregon is well-hated for having some really obnoxious fans. Donald Duck is irritating, and he’s their mascot.
I know people like to laugh at Oregon’s many uniforms, but it appears they were onto a good thing. Nowadays, lots of teams seem to have different uniforms every week, too. For instance, Florida, Missouri, and Texas last week, Tennessee and Georgia wore black.
Now even NFL teams are doing it. IIRC, the Broncos wore uniforms earlier this season that had NO orange or blue!
Is it really in the hopes that some fans will buy the one-game jerseys and make some money?
Another reason I love Bama. I have no problem with other teams switching uniforms (especially if they try the Black Out. Mwaaaahahahahahahaha), but Bama’s home uniform is just so perfectly classy the way it is. Crimson jersey, white pants, crimson stripe, crimson helmet with white numbers.
Sweet.
Common opponents:
Ohio State vs USC = L 15 - 18
Ohio State vs Purdue = L 18 - 26
Oregon vs USC = W 47 - 20
Oregon vs Purdue = W 38 - 36
Based on this, Oregon’s offense is way better than OSU’s offense, and Oregon’s defense is somewhat worse than OSU’s defense but not way worse. It’s a limited sample and anything can happen in the bowl game, I’m looking forward to that game, hope it’s good.
In a shameless plug for my Heisman Poll, please vote for your favorite. Thanks.
Just de-lurking to say two things:
-
U$c always has been and always will be the most despised Pac-10 team, forevermore, no exceptions, I can’t hear you la la la la la!
-
I, personally, will be at Husky Stadium cheering for Cal tomorrow. Pray for me in those frigid temps. GO BEARS!
If there are 5 unbeaten teams (after the SEC game) tomorrow evening, I’m sure we’ll hear a lot of BCS complaining. You could argue that Texas played in a mediocre Big XII (no Top 20 teams), and that Florida and Bama had some surprising close calls (Arkansas, Auburn). And Cincy, TCU, Boise played the hands they were dealt
But in the end, I do believe that the BCS title game will match up the two best teams. I don’t see any of Group B being favored over Group A.
A:
Florida
Alabama
Texas
B:
Texas Christian
Cincinnati
Boise State
OMG a fellow Bear fan!! <exchanges secret handshake>
