You, sir, just hurt my feelings. Didn’t we have fun at the Bait Shop? Didn’t we? I know I did.

I drive, and I’d love to go (and take anyone who needs a ride from the Denver, Boulder, anywhere under an hour away area).
I’m a loser newbie, but I’m cute :). ok, that may be a lie. I’m fun! That may be a lie. I’ll show up! Yup, that’s all I can promise.
I will try this again…please know that my nerves are short so I don’t mean to sound like a snot…the SDMB has not been kind to me today.
Having put together Dopefests in the past, I have a date. I apologize to those that can’t make that date, we can always have future Dopefests even make this a monthly thing. So I am picking August 9th as the date to eliminate any confusion or it will be discussed at length and nothing will get done. What we do need are some ideas as to what to do.
So, ideas that will fit into most budgets (meaning cheap) are in the bag.
Bars/restaurants are always good. Basically anywhere we can hang out and shoot the sh*t. Minature golf, maybe, thought that’s unamangeable with lots of people. Can’t talk during movies. Hiking’s probably out for the less athletic of the group.
Dunno, sounds like a restaurant meet is probably a good, safe, boring choice.
I guess it would help to know the ages of people attending, especially if a trip to a bar is desired. Im 23 myself, I don’t drink but I still go to nightclubs/bars so I wouldn’t be opposed to one.
I’m 55 and my wife is in her 40s (I forget exactly what it is, but she appreciates that) and both of us drink and love strange food. Something like Matam Fez (Moroccan food in Springs) would be great (belly dancers and eat with your hand) if it weren’t so darned expensive.
I 2nd/3rd/whatever the bar/restaurant idea. I don’t know of a specific place 'cause I’m in Denver.
Loved your sig, Lynne. Can’t wait to meet you.
Some place where we can eat, drink, talk without screaming over (insert extraneous noise here) and where the waiter/waitress won’t get mad if we’re going to be there for at least a few hours. I can’t suggest anywhere specific, as I’m not familiar with Colorado Springs…
I would prefer if we met at a place that at least has the options of a non-spicy dish on the menu, but if everyone wants Mexican (or insert other spicy food place) I’ll just eat before I come. (I have Crohn’s disease, and try to not make my innards hate me too much.)
Noted: Don’t buy any apples from the dragons I’ll encounter.
Sounds rockin, - the bar idea, cause I can’t drink, and bars tend to get grumpy when I order a diet coke each round, even though they wouldn’t serve me anyway. Anyway, count me in!
PS, Thanks Yellowtail, I enjoy my sig. AHHH! When the hell did I break 200?!
Here’s a wacky thought…
There are a ton of restaurants/bars on the north end of town and nearby is Chapel Hills mall, where those of us that would like, could meet at the mall for ice skating before we go to dinner/drinks.
They have a restaurant at the mall, but don’t reservations and do have outdoor seating if the temps aren’t blistering.
I can go through my brain and list the restaurants along that part of town, mostly chain type places like Olive Garden, etc…
If the idea of meeting at the Mall for ice skating appeals before we become food filled buzzed people, etc…let me know.
Also, I can get rates at the north end Embassy Suites if out-of-towners want to stay the night.
Dicuss…
No problem, C Springs is a pretty family friendly city so non-drinkers are welcomed. I think we should think about a place that has a bar and a restaurant.
Ack, more thoughts…
If we agree to meet for ice skating (hehe, those will make for some fun Dopefest pictures) we could head down Academy Blvd. to Old Chicago. I am not big on Italian but they do have good food and have pool tables. We’d probably want to get there early as a group…
Old Chicago is the perfect combination of bar/restaurant, at least for a chain. Don’t know about the ice skating though, I haven’t done that since I was 12.
Damn you! I fly down the 18th of August! I will soon be residing in Greeley, but for now I am stuck in Ontario (I know, weird. What can I say, I’m half Canadian) Not that Ontario is bad, but there are no Dopefests being planned, and y’all are planning one RIGHT before I come down. What have I done to deserve this? You all suck! And I hope you know I’m just kidding, I love each and every one of you
With recent events in my life (my animals) financially speaking I will be unable to attend a Dopefest until things gel, however, if anyone wants me to continue making plans, by all means I am all for making it happen.
Okay okay, I’m here. Nobody bother to say anything to the little Pueblo chick huh, thanks.
August 9th, if I don’t have to work, I will try to make it. It’ll be a toss up though unless I can get that day off, because I will be coming back from vacation from Ohio on the 5th, and probably staying up in Denver with my boyfriend for a couple days after that. But if I don’t have to work, then I will definitely be there.
The ice-skating/mall idea is fine by me, just so we all understand that I’m underage so bars will be out for me.
Whomever would like to resume planning, just let me know so I have a secret contact to email when necessary to keep me in the loop.

Sure that was a great time, but there were only 3 dopers there. When I say “decent Dopefest” I guess I’m talking more quantity than quality. Of course when your talking about Dopers, how can you be talking about anything other than quality.
BTW, looks like I’m working the 9th. I try and do some shift shuffleing or if not, I have tons of vacation. I’ll keep ya’ll updated. Also ** monster ** ya didn’t say if you were going to make it.
Somebody pick up the ball with this thing please…I would, but I don’t think anyone wants to come this far south.

As I said I will be more than willing to continue the planning but wont be able to attend sooooooooo, if y’all want it to happen I will go forth with the activity planning.
