I am speechless. I am heartbroken. I am a Rams fan.
[No mere frownie face can possibly express the ocean of dispair within my soul right now so why even try?]

I’m no NFL scholar, but had there ever been a 2OT playoff game in NFL playoff history? I know there have been scads of multi-extra inning baseball playoff games, and of course multiple OT hockey games and similar in basketball, but I hadn’t heard of any 1+OT football playoff games.
They said that this was the 5th longest game in NFL history. Or NFL playoff history. I’m too depressed to know or care which.
It would be both, as a regular season game can’t extend beyond 1 OT.
<------- Panthers fan.
Neener neener neener.
Sorry…I couldn’t help myself.
As a Vikes fan, you know I can commiserate.
Whoda thunk it would come down to a kicking battle, and then end in OT with a 69-yard pass play?
Chin up, dude. The Rams’ll be back.
Depressed Rams fan here.
But you have to admit, even though they lost, that was one hell of a nailbiter. Even though I thought it was over in the 4th, I’m glad I kept it on, because I know how they are with comebacks. And they sure gave it a hell of a go in OT.
Ah well, next year, there’s always next year. After the Cardinals and then nothing for so long, even the losses are still good.
Hahahahahaha.
Uh, I mean, at least you don’t have to look far for a new head coach. Everyone else is trying to hire Lovey Smith (sic?) and you’ve already got him.
Seriously, though, the Mad Professor ™ kicking an unnecessary field goal is like Fred Taylor playing all 16 games in a sea… wait, I mean like the Bengals finishing with a winning re… uh, you get the idea.
Wow, this has been a pretty damn surprising season.
I’m not a fan of any of the millionares that play the pro sport, nor their teams, but I thought it would be a crime if the Panthers lost.
Outplayed the Rmas then kicked a winning field goal (I was in a restaurant so didn’t catch the sound,so I’m guessing that winner was nullified by a motion penalty (5 yds.on the offense.)
I felt so bad for that kicker and the coach.
From what I saw (again no sound) it looked like the coach went for it on 2nd down (the initial gamer) and I thought it was good strategy, not wanting to risk the fumble/errant handoff for another couple yards.
Now he has to come back and gain back those yards since the penalty apparently left the kicker near the top level yardagewise of his kicking proficiency.
Naturally the 2nd try (in reg.)hits the post, confirming,at least for me the coach knew what he was doing.
Great gameplan from a team that sports what looks to me less than worldbeaters in the area of offense. And beating the offensive "genius"the erstwhile coach from the LA Pac10 thru the Eagles?.makes it even better.
The cold may bring them back to earth next week, tho whoever they face, unless a quick weather turnaround in the frozen tundra north of the 40th parallel warms them up.That NE game was brutal.
Weep for you?Suck it up,you can’t win them all,and you lost to a better team today.
The Panthers kicked their butts all over the field. It would have been a shame if they would have lost.
I had no interest in either team, but I did enjoy following the Rams with Kurt Warner. Martz’s benching of a two-time NFL MVP was a slap in the face.
And I hate Martz. He is another in a long line of coaches that play not to lose instead of to win. As a Steeler fan, I’ve suffered through Bill Cowher’s coaching. He can’t win the big game because he coaches not to lose. Always. And he ALWAYS loses the big games. Just like Martz.
It was delay-of-game.
(BTW: I was rroting for the Panthers.)
Wot a game. Kudos to John Fox, taking the team from 1-15 2 years ago under Seifert, to this.
Coach of the year, I say.
