Hafta go to work. Donwanna.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. It’s 13 right now.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 22 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 42 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today is OYKW’s birthday and his last day off before he returns to irk. I shall take him to N.O.L. at Cheddar’s (his choice) and make aigs Benedict to sup upon. He gets an ice cream cake this weekend and probably Sunday we shall use his half-off birthday coupon at the local good seafood place after deheathenization. So, pretty much today is all about the birthday boy.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then at some point purtification must occur as we shall be goin’ about the public.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Back in the office. Where did my time off go?? <sigh>
It was about 9° when I let the dog out. Thank goodness for the garage - it stays in the 40s in there, so my car was considerably more comfortable than if I’d had to park outside.
Much paper piled on my desk. I remembered my password to log in - now, can I remember how the drafting software works???

Happy Tuesday!
It is 5 right now. If this was Canada it would be -15. Somehow even though its the same it seems like it would feel even colder then.

Irked. Dintwanna. Bit of a shambles. Everyone who knew what they were doing was off, leaving me and another newbie to mess up and annoy the boss.
Think I only slept about an hour last night, for some unknown reason, and I just couldn’t brain at all. Fighting the temptation to just go back to bed and sleep until tomorrow, but I think that’d just get me even more temporally bewildered and mess up my sleeping worse.
At least it’s not as cold here as what you all seem to be stuck with.
OYKW decided he didn’t want to go out for N.O.L. because it’s way cold out, well, for here. Thus we brunched on aigs Benedict and steamed asparagus. It was also his choice to have a birthday brunch, spoiled brat! Suppage shall now be chikin noodle soup and corn bread. I took the soup outta da freezer and the corn bread is leftover from yestiddy’s feast, so easy-peasy!
Busy busy - I’ve overshot lunch by almost an hour!
The day is zipping by!
HOWDY. Have not read but will. Happy New Year everyone.
Laugh all you want but it is 62F and misty. Damn chilly for here.

Fine. :dubious:
A blustery rainy day here. Been that way since before sunrise. The temp is OK at least for the next 36 hours or so. Then we’ll crash into the 40s. Which can be cold for the thousands of people who live in in houses that have windows that don’t close and heaters that don’t work. And whose “winter coat” is a windbreaker.
Fed, purty, and heading out to the groc stores. Was going to go an hour ago but the rain was really pouring then. So I filibustered here until it slowed down to a drizzle. TTFN.
Still with you; after I came out of the water, ran up beach & made snow angels! ![]()
Parts of the bay were frozen & today the Ocean temp is down to 30° & there are ice flows just off shore.
But…but…but…sparkly jackboots! You need to spend more time here.
BTW, if you’re gonna post here, you need a nickname. I propose Sparkly.
It was 12° / wind chill of 2° when I went out for this morning’s walk. Toes got a bit cold; mebbe I could use a bit more than old running shoes. OTOH, my jacket was about 2/3 unzipped for most of the way because I was so warm. See, I really do know how to dress properly.
Caligula was nicknamed “Little Boot”. Let’s show some class in a nickname for a change.
I believe I set a record this morning. I stayed up way late (about 1:30am) Moanday, for no discernible reason except I didn’t feel tired. Took my medicine one more time and laid down tired but not especially sleepy. Woke up a couple of times but had no bathroom needs and with nothing in particular to do today, saw no reason not to go back to sleep. Finally rolled out of be at 12:18PM today. Only other time in my life I can remember sleeping that late was in a hotel in Amsterdam after a long flight and a longer walking tour of the city. At least this time I didn’t startle the housemaid.
Need to get some sustenance shortly and do enough activity to get to sleep at a regular time.
Good to be back to work. We had a four-day weekend for Christmas. I worked Wednesday the 27th. The company I work for isn’t exactly up with the times, so our vacation is ‘use or lose’. (Also, you have to work 10 years before getting three weeks of vacation.) So I took my remaining two days of use-or-lose on Thursday and Friday. Got bored. Then we had a three-day weekend.
Much has been accomplished today. Too late to start a new project, so I’ll tidy a bit before leaving.
Pretty good way to start the new year.
Happy Birthday to OYKW!
Today has been the first day without obligations since leaving the hospital after my surgery. I took advantage to sleep until 11:30. I’m thinking about going back to bed soon. The doctor said I would be tired for several weeks. Guess he wasn’t kidding. I’ve been powering through on college-level amounts of coffee.
Low 30s this morning. Low 40’s as the high. Rain starts again Thursday.
Dinner tonight. Hmmm. Maybe enfrijoladas. Husband and I love them. 'Beamette eats the tortillas, and 'Beamer complains that we eat them all the time, and then eats all of them.
Beamer, FTR, is 12 years old and 5’6". He has one maternal grandparent who is short. All of the other relatives are not. The males in particular tend to 6’2" or taller. Of course, I have that one relative who tells me all about how some people are done growing at 12. I’m just extremely happy that he is a strapping young lad who is happy to help out with sick Pooka Bear, and heavy groceries.
Home after a busy day. I’ve got homemade chickie noodle soup simmering on the stove. Wish I’d stopped on the way for crusty bread. Oh well, I think we have crackers.
And before I forget again, Happy Happies to OYKW!!!
Clearly Johnny L.A. is having some sort of mental breakdown.
I have the remains of a batard that I bought on Sun. At this point it’s crusty outside & inside. I could take a picture of it & email it to you. ![]()
Just why does bread go so stale so quick when other baked goods (muffins, cakes, etc.) don’t? Lack of eggs/oil?
So Sparkly it is.
Speaking of MMP names, what is Johnny’s?
What you have here is a great opportunity to fondue.
I am 100% certain that I do not want to know what the dog rolled in. He loves me so much. So much that he creaks along wherever I go. Great big stinky Pooka bear. :smack:
