Comedy Central Schedulers Should Die Like Pigs in Hell

I dunno. I’d say you’re more basic than acidic.

Actually, blowero, I agree with you on Upright Citizens Brigade, Strangers with Candy (despite the presence of Amy Sedaris), and Crank Yankers - especially Crank Yankers. But MST3K?!

Other shows I lament the passing of:
Exit 57 (also with Amy Sedaris, funniest American Sketch Comedy Ever)
Vacant Lot (why are Canadians so good at sketch comedy? “Hello! How’s are everybody? We are Porridge and The Biscuits”)
Another show thankfully canned:
The Sweet Spot.

Acts that should be given a show:
The Bert Fershners (if for no other reason than the Sing up High song.

Bring back The State!

O.K., MST3K was funny at first, and the robot puppets were cool, but after awhile, didn’t you notice that the jokes got REALLY lame? I mean, my friends and I could come up with better comments off the cuff than the ones on the show. And then I heard that they were scripting the whole thing out, and that was still the best they could do?

Sorry, but I’d take Dr. Katz over that any day.

And how come everyone seems to like the really campy shows, but they hate the bowling thing? That’s about as campy as you get.

This thing–it types like a man, but the words it types…could it be that it comes from an alternate, Bizarro universe where up is down and black is white and MST3K is not funny?

Hold me, I’m scared.

God, I hate nerds.

Dr. Katz - Squigglevision is evil. Maybe that show should have been done with puppets.

Apparently new episodes of The Man Show will end (thankfully) when Jimmy Kimmel starts his new talk show on ABC. Then it will be the worst of both worlds, endless reruns of his old show on CC and the untalented little fuck being smug and crude on network TV.

::takes aim at his TV with 12 gauge shotgun::

I was just joshin’ ya, blowero. To each his own. I’m sure there’s something you love that I’m totally indifferent to, too.

Oh, geez - I was kidding also. Sorry, should have used the smilie.

How about Absolutely Fabulous? I hated that fucking show, mainly because when they first started running it, they ran it into the ground. It had some pathetic number of episodes (maybe 10?) that CC played over and over and over. Absolutely Fabulous marathons every other fucking weekend, every morning, every night, every time they had time to fill. Then the hid it for a few months and did the same thing again. Like there’s people out there who can watch that stupid fucking show more than 30 times per episode and still like it.

I quit watching altogether years ago aside from the occasional Who’s Line. I try and watch it once every 2 months or so in the hope that it might be an episode I haven’t seen (not likely).

I caught a Daily Show about the time John Stewart took it over and stayed hooked. I watch at 11, so the time move doesn’t bother me much. But I still refuse to watch anything else. Most of the programming SUCKS ASS, features people with little or no talent, and is reruns.

As long as people keep watching though, they’ll keep shoveling out the shit.

Hmmm, whatever happened to Win Ben Stein’s money. That was a pretty good show, at a convient time (7:00); then it tottered off to 5 or something, and then they replace Nancy with that guy from the Man show, and then they shuffled it around, and then I lost interest…

Why did they have to fuck with the only decent hour of TV? I love The Daily Show and now I can’t watch it, since I don’t get home until 6:00. They also moved Beat the Geeks to 5:30. Hubby and I loved the new host!

Jimmy was the original co-host, back in '96 or '97 when it was original and clever. That’s one show that lasted too long.

** There are people who can’t?

[Oxy gazes heavenwards]Sweetie, I’m chanting even as we speak!

Just wait until scott evil catches that post…

Just got a really weak reply to my e-mail:

"Dear Eve,

Thank you for writing Comedy Central. We appreciate your comments and are pleased that you are a fan of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. There are a number of factors that inform our scheduling strategy, and we occasionally make changes to our program schedule. We are excited to add Late Night with Conan O’Brien to our weekday night programming. We feel Conan O’Brien’s humor combined with his guests compliment the rest of our programming and will allow Comedy Central to remain dedicated to bringing our viewers the most fresh and provocative comedy programming available. Although The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’s early evening repeat time has changed, you can continue to catch new episodes of the show weeknights at 11pm, with replays at 12:30am, 10am and 5:30pm. Thanks for watching Comedy Central!

Sincerely
Comedy Central Viewer Services"

—Oh, bite me. You obviously didn’t read a thing I said, you smug mealy-mouthed asshats.

What did you want them to say?

Somehow, I’m not surprised to read this here.

Since no one’s mentioned it, I’ll assume few here are BattleBots fans, but it too, saw the scheduler’s axe.

First CC declined the option to produce Season 6 of BB, and the following week, unceremoniously stripped the show from it’s Tuesday evening timeslot where it’s been for two years plus, and dumped it in the catbox of Saturday afternoons where only the heavily medicated or institutionally restrained watch TV. And with no warning or advertising- Fans tuned in this past Tuesday only to see The Man Show, went to online directories on CC.com, Yahoo and others, most of whom continued to show “BattleBots” listed for that time slot.

This, for Comedy Central’s self-described “third highest rated show”.

CC may be lame now but I’ll always give them credit for one thing: years ago when they were airing Monty Python’s Flying Circus they had the foresight to air the episodes in their entirety (with only one commercial break) by alloting them a 35-minute slot. In the past, commercial stations had massacred the MPFC episodes in order to fit them into the traditional American 28-minute slot.

God bless the Comedy Central of old.

Huzzah!

It looks like Comedy Central is moving the reruns of the Daily Show back to 7:30 pm.
