Comedy in LA

I just moved to the UCLA area, and I’m really interested in seeing some live comedy, possibly on a regular basis. The only comedy stuff I’ve ever seen in real life has been an improv group at my undergrad. I have been a fan of stand-up and sketch comedy all my life, though. My most recent favorites have been Mr. Show with Bob and David, the Comedians of Comedy (Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, Brian Posehn and Maria Bamford), Eugene Mirman, and Mitch Hedberg. I haven’t been exposed to a lot, but I really would like to get out there and see some interesting performers (not necessarily anyone I’ve ever heard of.)

I’ve been looking online and there are a ton of venues, some expensive, some free, and a bunch of people I’ve never heard of, so I don’t know what to see. I’m thinking of going to the upright citizen’s brigade theater tonight to check out a show there. Can anyone recommend good performers or consistently good clubs I should check out? (Ones close by would be nice, but I don’t mind going across town.)
