Comic books that deserve adaptations

Curse your ability to understand what words mean!

yes.

Zippy the Pinhead
The Appletons (the B.K. Taylor ones)
2-minute batches of 10-second Max Cannon shorts
“Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron” - Daniel Clowes. (featuring, of course, Tina) Maybe get David Lynch or Spike Jonze on this.
Just about anything Drew Friedman does.

Bonus trivia question: Name every comic book-based movie that Chris Evans has been in.Fantastic Four
TMNT
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Push
The Losers
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
Snowpiercer
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Captain America: Civil War

I like this idea, but the main character would be continually spouting stream-of-consciousness ramblings that the audience may get sick of after 2 minutes. Maybe for a Trip Tank-type show.

Ho ho ho! Is that the one from National Lampoon about a JR Bob Dobbs lookalike who cheerfully abuses his family? Again, Trip Tank.

I’m thinking his send-up of the Andy Griffith show where the cast reacts to an actual black person stopping for gas. Absolutely NO ONE would produce that.

“The Adventures of Barry Ween Boy Genius”

Weapon Brown: Blockhead’s War would make an awesome movie, but it would have a hard time making it past the Rating Police and the Copyright Police.

Has anyone asked for Metabarons yet? HBO would eat that up.

Also, Xenozoic Tales. It already had a shitty cartoon adaptation at one point. I would think that the runaway success of Jurassic World would make this a no-brainer. Than again, Terra Nova had a similar premise and it bombed.

Moonshadow

Captain Marvel. The one that gets his powers from the wizard Shazam. I know there was a (really bad) live action version in the 70’s, and a cartoon in the 70’s or 80’s, but how about a big budget blockbuster version of the guy that used to outsell Superman? Just keep Zack Snyder the fuck away from it.

Isn’t that one already happening? Complete with Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam?

And, sadly, Robin Williams is no longer around to play the part. Jim Carrey, maybe?

Booster Gold and the Blue Beetle

It’s time for a superhero buddy comedy.

I came in to post Sandman; but under the category of “totally deserves an adaptation/can’t imagine how anyone could even make it into a miniseries”. Although Starz and HBO have done a pretty good job of turning bloated mega-novels into series…

However, I’m frankly surprised that Death: The High Cost of Living hasn’t been turned into a movie, yet. Both that and Death: The Time of Your Life could easily be done as stand-alones, with plenty of allusions and Easter eggs for the fanboys.

I’d love to see it, but the Big Red Cheese probably will get nitpicked to death, and all the fun would be removed by DC.

I know that Joseph Gordon Levitt currently owns the rights to Neil Gaiman’s Sandman but I haven’t heard anything more. Does anybody know if it’s in development or in limbo?

Some news sites were saying that Gordon Levitt quit the movie back in March.

Good for him. I would rather see no movie at all than a shitty movie.

One I wanted is being developed, the Micronauts. The other is Rom Spaceknight, if they keep the superheroes out.

Cherry Poptart

Holy shitsnacks! I just realized Rom without super-heroes is Critters!

Forget Black Adam. Dwayne Johnson should play the captain!

Grimjack
Grimjack
Grimjack

Though, I see it as more of a series. Each story starting in Munden’s Bar and each episode a new dimension (kind of like Sliders).
